OK. Had already noticed that there was something funny about this rule. But since I didn't knew the driver, all I did was copy as it was on you tube.
Thanks

Polish same as all Slavic languages have different noun endings for different cases.
It's not the same in all Slavic languages, at least not in Bulgarian, Russian, nor Serbian. There is similar rule in Hungarian, but I don't think it belongs to that group.

It's amazing how quickly M-Sport packed/assemled R5, while PSA has numerous problems with it - engine, cooling, who knows what else.

Indeed, although I guess having worked with the Fiesta already gave them a head start.
They've done a good job, but I don't think we'll know how good until we see some cars from different manufacturers in competition. I don't believe PSA would homologate a bad car.

Yeah, I also think PSA won't homologate bad car, they want to be a winner, though a predict heavy fight with Skoda :D M-Sport looked very quick to build their car with some various standard parts (some parts they use from AUDI, Porsche if I'm not mistaken), so I guess these parts take time to try and test for durability. I wonder is the same approach with PSA and Skoda

It's nice promotion for Ford that M-Sport use VAG parts ;)

there are no VAG named parts in Fiesta. There are for example some Bosch sensors that maybe are used also in some road cars from VAG, but nothing with vw, audi, etc names. Turbo hot side for example is from BMW M5, but it's made by Garrett and that name is written only.

I'm sure someone has mentioned it, probably it was this one - http://www.motorsportforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=98&t=135772&start=760. I think Wilson also was talking about it somewhere, but I can hardly find this video.
PS: BTW I didn't mean parts are manufactured by VAG, but used in standard road cars, no need M-Sport to make them, so it's not so expensive

Would hope so, 8 weeks or so until Portugal and official homologation date is still March 1st, if not delayed so would think there is plenty of time to sort any cooling (or other issues out) but...........
Would like to see it on the CoI too, middle of April.

Thank you very much my friend...It seems to me a little bit plain...like somebody "googled" design of Barros from last years, did some small changes and send it to contest. The second place is in my opinion better. And 3rd place is also better than winner. But it is my personal opinion. Maybe I just expected much more from such huge international contest. Maybe I am fool. Everybody knows I am dreamer and perfectionist. :)

Yes, it seemed weird that it would be there as well as the "Vision C" Coupe.
Anyhow, if Skoda want to start testing the Fabia R5 with the new bodyshell soon then they will have to have it heavily disguised. Although maybe it is not so important to use the new body yet if the platform is not much different.

This press release is maybe official, but for sure is not 100% correct...
still it gives much more info than you
Only confirmed events of Bruno are Acropolis, Acores and Ypres. Other three events are not decided yet. Everything depends on money, like usual. Peugeot Portugal is not partner of the project. And this direct speech was not made by Bruno. Ok, I am telling less info, but my info is not bullshit ;)

Is it possible to move the homologation date? AFAIK The first few cars should be ready in the middle of February and wait 2 weeks for homologation, so I belive the cars are ready, but FIA is full of bureaucracy so I don´t think it is so easy to change the homologation date.

I think You don't understand what homologation mean. It's not a pre-event scrutineeering. It doesn't take one hour. It takes maybe more than one month to check everything. The process can be finished earlier (or even later - Fiesta S2000) but the date in papers will be one of those four.
liposh
12th February 2014, 11:48
...so it means homologation process could finish this weekend BUT in papers there will be written 1.3. and Peugeot can´t use that car until 1.3. , right?
Mirek
12th February 2014, 12:00
Yes. That's exactly what happened in Barum rally two years a go when Vizin with Polo S2000 was not allowed to start. The safety door foam and plastic windows were homologated right before Barum rally but for homologation date 1st September which was the date of second leg. FIA stewards didn't allow the car to start.

Mirek

I guess that it's for them to be able to plan their activities. If anyone could come at any date it would be a pain in the ass for FIA.

I think the homologation tests and paperwork verification can be arranged throughout the year, but the 4 dates where the cars are approved for use from, are set for the manufacturers to be able to plan the homologation process with FIA, to meet one of the dates.

dampers are the same (only front/rear stroke is different, springs different), but struts are different left/right.
uprights are the same all 4 corners.
arms (TCAs, compression struts, tie rods) are different front/rear
brakes are almost the same - disc same, calipers different slightly left/right
also there are other small differences.

Yes, it seems to be low. If I have good information Fiesta R5 has circa 300 Hp so the information is either wrong or the engine is significantly weaker in peak power. Anyway I take the official numbers with a pinch of salt. Remember Škoda keeps saying that Fabia S2000 has 270 Hp which is just ridiculous.

Yes, it could be a red herring. It just seems like a strangely specific thing to say if there is not some truth in it.
Anyhow, it might not be too bad a thing if they have done that in trade for some driveability low down the rev range.

Seriously, not. Of course any result can be shown on dyno if You set it for that but I don't believe in real 320 Hp for a second.
By the way I know about one interesting case from here. It was with Punto S2000 engine. It was brand new delivered from FPT and measured in factory for 275 Hp. After delivery it was brought to one local engine tuner and put on dyno again. The result was 287 Hp. You can choose which number shall be trusted :)

I saw few different S2000 engines with 315, 317, 318hp. Of course more power always was meaning less torque... Belive me or not, but last spec engines were really, really powerfull! Also don't forget evolution of fuels, etc.
Even now there are few R5 running on E85, so their figures should be higher also.

Top S2000 engines had around 320hp, Fiesta R5 should have around 300hp, so it looks to be true in case of Peugeot.
yes I knew that skoda last engine spec was 320hp.
Fabrizio Fabbri , racing lions team boss said 208t16 has 20hp less than 207s2000
I am curious to know what torque figures the S2000 cars were putting out? I have never seen it mentioned anywhere.
The Fabias are/were remarkably "violent" out of very slow corners.

As for interesting fact - S2k engine without air filter had 3hp more than with filter:)
I still don't believe but I admit last time I spoke about the figures with engineers was some two years back.
On the other hand there may be some logic in it. I know that 2013 evolution of Fabia engine was some +8 Hp. If hypothetically they found 8 Hp every year and started on 280 Hp in 2009 they must be around 320 Hp by now.
br21
1st March 2014, 19:07
Fiesta had torque around 300Nm if I remember correct (in top engine evolution).
Fiesta started with around 280hp and during 4 years of evolution it gained over 30hp. There were some mapping evolutions, some engine updates, some exhaust updates, also during those years fuel evolutions gave also few bhp. Similar with Peugeot. With Fabia I've got no experience, but I think it should look similar - it should have gained some bhp during the years.
Thanks br, 300nm is quite impressive without a turbo.

EDIT for 320 Hp @ 8000 rpm the torques is 281 Nm (at 8000!). So either 300 Nm and 320 Hp is true or both is exaggerated by circa same percentage.

Yes, Jakeš will drive DS3 R5 in Czech International Championship. His car will be ready at the end of March but next MM?R event Rallye ?eský Krumlov will take place only in early may (as Rally Šumava was moved to late may from April because of joint ERC Historic Rallye Vltava). Jakeš was said to drive several Austrian events "close" to Wienna as well as his sponsor is active there.
The article says that Gekon Racing team of Tomáš Pletka is one of the very first to receive training how to build and maintain DS3 R5 and shall serve as a technical support for other teams.
Also Slovak Igor Drotár shall drive DS3 R5 and if nothing changed another Czech driver as well...

The look is great (despite those strange holes in the front bumper), sound is nice but somewhat empty (missing more anti-lag or louder blow-off valve). The car certainly looks more powerful (torque-vise) and much better in suspension (rear axle) than when I saw it in Ypres. Still I can not help myself but I feel like something is missing there. I don't know what maybe it's just general feeling with the R5 cars (except the Škoda testing videos about which we don't know how much real R5 the car was).

5speed box is a rule written in regulations... I think they make it to cut the costs (not much) and to differ R5 cars from WRC/RRC.
Top speed is similar like medium/long in S2000, 177kmh in Fiesta for example.

I imagine it's not that simple. Yes, it is more simple mechanics and less prone to defects, but I wonder in what degree it affects engnine mileage durability - with 5-speeds engnine spends less time in high revs (probably depends on the stages charecteristics anyway), the acceleration curve is not that agile, thus it is "gentle" to the engine and rebuild costs of it decrease significantly. Just my guesses :)

I tend to disagree partly. Bigger steps between gears are not so good for gearbox and transmission durability (hence why Citroën kept using 6-speed gearbox in C4 where it wasn't needed at all for the engine characteristics).

hard to compare as R5 is quite new, and we still have some kms to engine rebuild. and what's written in manual about costs is different thing than reality. in general engine life mileage seems to be quite similar, cost of r5 engine rebuild is smaller, but you need to change turbo then, so... (MSport says turbo life is 1700kms which is hard to believe). Gearbox parts are a little bit cheaper in R5 comparing to S2k, but I already know you need to change them way more often, so... Similar situation with other parts - driveshafts, prop, etc. Those parts are cheaper in R5, but their quality is "cheaper" also... plus in S2k more parts were "rebuildable" while in R5 you need to buy new... Clutch is the same, brake parts similar price.

Thank You both. It looks faster than 208 but it might be just my impression...
I love the turbo whoosh under braking on the Fabia :)
If I were Peugeot I would be worried that the Skoda already looks/sounds more refined in terms of power train than the 208, 8 months ahead of homologation...
Nice to hear some proper turbo sounds after the boredom of the Fiesta.

The March 2015 is more possible as homologation date for Fabia R5. Raimund Baumschlager said after Janner :"Hopefully we will receive the Fabia R5 next April".

I hope they can deliver these cars sooner than later. M-Sport has pretty much filled the market and many entry lists of many events.. and all available Fiestas are sold in days (if you look advertisments). I hope to see even nicer WRC2 and ERC lists in near future.

Pluto, does 3 orders from CZ mean 3 different customers?

It looks like homologation of Peugeot 208 T16 by FIA was refused. Andreucci will start in Ciocco with national homologation.

Another video of the Fabia: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pssM55rLYQc
Three days of testing this week - they are going to have a lot of miles on it by the time homologation comes around.

Thanks, looking really good in this video. If I have good information the car has been tested very extensively, there are only no videos or photos from most of the tests...

Any info what ECU, transmission, etc is used in 208T16? I know Ohlins dampers are there, Alcon brakes, maybe 3MO box/diff but that's not sure.
