Nice picture..

Yep, in some angles it really is a nice car. :)

We don't know, neither here in Italy, nor in Portugal, how hard the drivers really are pushing. Maybe it is just a big shakedown. In Italy the car has just been delivered, maybe even not al the foam has been removed ;)

Hope to see a lot more from this car and also hope a lot of S2000 will be adopted with new motor.

Don't forget he was once an official Mitsubishi Ralliart Italy driver. But do we count Lancer as a "proper racing car"? ;)

Chentre is increasing his pace at Ciocco and his aim is 3rd by the end of event :bounce:

Elwis said at 1000 Miglia next month he will have the 2011 spec. 207(the current one is the older version) ;)

Oh yes, Chentre is really pushing hard. He was second on SS7, SS8 and SS9. He is now only 2 seconds behind Scandola!

Convinced and deserved win for Paolo Andreucci&Anna Andreussi at Ciocco! Rossetti's second place was expected, but in the future he could have troubles on the tarmac with Chentre and on the gravel with young Scandola.
About others: the old guy Cunico is still pushing very hard, Perico will be definitely a man to watch, on the other hand I'm disappointed with both Mezzogori and Griotti with new Megan RS.....Clio's R3 are very much faster, not to mention evoX.....

I think he's still quite fast! Start number is just a matter of priority (he has none) and class of the car.

Not so many entries this year in Adriatico but quite good quality.

As I have already stated in one of my previus post, this year TRT will be the most competetive ever. Many different brands, some top drivers&legends...it will be highly interesting to watch this event!!
I hope Navarra will not disappoint (and his co-driver is after few years again his wife, Simona Fedelli).....

Ronde Alto Friuli-very important rally for both Slovenian crews with S2000 cars. I hope one of them will win the general classification as this would be first victory in Italy from Slovenian driver. For me personaly R.Turk is the fastest as he has some previous experience with S2000, Humar will sit for the first time in this kind of a car.....

Awesome and unexpected performance of Mini. Ok, it's a turbomotor against S2000's, but it has restrictor of 30mm.

With this result, would other Italian teams like Peugeot and Abarth consider turbomotor in their S2000's?

Surprice this unexpected performance from Navarra, for whom we all gave up any hopes that he will repeat his best results from ten or even more years ago.....Maybe his wife as a co-driver helps him, who knows....And also Mini looks very competetive, it is true that this car is not allowed to score points in Italy in CIR and TRT, but Skoda&Peugeot&Ford are definitely worried-thanks god for them that Mini will appear in this season not often at the stages.....

I think the championship organisers are right not to allow the 1.6T cars to compete for the title until more are available than just Mini. 'Equalising' two totally different types of engine is a difficult task.

Yep, and add the R4 Evo en Sub to the same class is even a bigger challenge. But I like the idea, if they are almost equal some might have advantage in specific domain to others, which could make interesting championships not always the same car winning.

Ucci

Oh my god-if somebody told me yesterday that Navarrone will ever win, I would laugh at him! I know very well the past of this some years ago world-class driver (2004 CIR champion, 4th place at WRC Sardinia in an old Impreza, few times TRT champion...), but as he moved in 2006 to Abarth, this was a way down for him...I was a big fan of him, but I was so many times disappointed, that I gave up any hope on him...
And to be even more important this victory is also the first ever victory for new Mini !!! What an honor for Andrea Navarra! About Mikkelsen-as already posted, this championship will be a good learning path for him. Not to forget Andrea Aghini, he is still a master of driving...
Than again, sincere congratulations to Navarra and his wife Simona Fedeli.

Maybe Navarra was really good, but we have to remember that he had no real opposition on this rally. Aghini was out of competition for many years and Mikkelsen, as far as I know, has never won anything...

But congratulations to Navarra anyway! It must be the first ever victory for the new Mini, isn't it?

Mikkelsen is norwegian champion in N4(2009) and he is runner up-champion in A8(2008), he is also the youngest driver to score points in an WRC-event(2008)..........and now he is only 21 years old.
Aghini is a great driver, but what had he won in the age of 21.......??

Just came back from Rally Adriatico: great fun!
Mikkelsen lost the rally on SS 2 where he spun losing about 20 seconds.

Jarek Z

Aghini is a great driver, but what had he won in the age of 21.......??

Most probably nothing. Because Aghini started rallying when he was 21. Then he had to climb the ladder from small cars to the strongest rally machines. He was rallying with a small group N cars for several years before he finally signed a contract with Lancia. You can't compare Aghini to Mikkelsen, because Mikkelsen never had to climb this ladder, that most young drivers have to climb. He drove WRC cars already in his first year.

I don't question Mikkelsen's skills, because I don't know how good he is. I just don't remember him ever winning any important rally. But who knows, maybe it will happen this year?

Yes, his father had lots of money and helped him in the start of the career..............but for two years ago he totally stopped funding him.....
Mikkelsen had to start raising money and find sponsors himself. And I think he has done it fairly good so far!

That is true , and he is doing very good so far in my opinion . However , it is still a fact that he drove a Focus WRC 05 when he was 17 , which is what most teenagers these days cannot afford ;)

Inferior?? Why?? If you would read an interview made with P.Porro two years ago, he admitted that they all (gentelman drivers-him, Re, Silva, Pedersoli, Oldrati...) are using yust app.70 to maximum 80% of potential of these vehicles, so there is still some ''gap'' for improvements....When you are driving on a full, using last atoms of vehicles capacity, then you can complain over unequal position, but until they are yust ''crusing'', it doesn't matter if you drive Focus '06, Xsara, C4, 307.....
Did you already forgett situation two years ago-Elwis Chentre with an old P206 WRC won two rallies in the start of the season, he moved on Xsara later in the season. Or Luca Rossetti in the same season-Valli Pordenosi with S2000 car, less than 30 seconds behind winner in WRC!! Or P.G.Deila three years ago-also with P206 WRC, all the rest with 307, Xsara, Focus...he won two rallies, but was forced to quit due to lack of money....
I respect all those gentelman drivers, I'm a big fan of Re, but they are really yust Sunday drivers....Chentre was a champion in 2009 for several races before the end of the seson. The same story in Italian IRC, two years ago Cunico ''destroyed'' competition (Lucciani, Sora, Oldrati...).

Mirek
30th April 2011, 13:10
Hmm, still driving a car A on 70% is still faster than driving car B on 70% if car A is faster. So if drivers are quite equal the machinery counts, no matter how good drivers they are. Even if they drive both their cars on 20%, still the one with better car is faster ;)

Ucci
30th April 2011, 14:09
Two more stages to the end of Aosta; Pede is in a lead by yust 5,7 seconds, Re is second. All others are ''second league''.....

urabus-denoS2000
30th April 2011, 16:49
The Focus is slower than Citroen on tarmac , and his spec is 2006 , while I believe Pede and Re got 2008 version C4s . It doesn't matter comparing them with good drivers because all 3 of them are gentelamn drivers . Now the difference between Porro and Pede&Re is realistic ;)

Ucci
30th April 2011, 18:47
Congratulations to Pedersoli&Romano, also a very good performance by Felice Re (mistake on stage4 cost him a victory). Both Re and Pedersoli won all stages, they really dominated this rally.

Are the stages exactly the same as used in WRC ?
They are the same, look at the distance of each ss.

So is the speed difference just down to clean roads ?
If there is any difference in road conditions, than CIR drivers have worse surface.

What happened to Mikkelsen? He should be on finish of ss4?

I wasn't comparing Andreucci with Loeb on a character side-this is not important to me, for me yust driving skills are what it counts....Anyway-Andreucci won third time in the row this season!!!! Hurey !!
But the star of the rally is definitely young Simone Cempedelli !! Yust look his final position-fifth place with DS3R3T, in front of very skilled driver Perico (207S2000), Dettori(FiestaS2000), both top N4 drivers Gianfico&Angrisani...Bettega was second in 2WD class with Clio R3, but almost five minutes back!! Dear friends, to achive such a result on a gravel.....respect!!!
Yet DS3R3T is still at the beginning of the development, so what kind of surprises can we expect...???

Yes , but a little dissaponting that there are only 65 cars . There are almost no enthusiasts with old homologation cars , it seems that TRA is turning into a playground of very wealthy people . The entry fee is a little less than 1000 Euro , which is almost what you pay for a ERC rally with more than twice as much kilometres .

On the bright side , I am very interested to see what Bruschetta can do in a 206 . Also , note Scopel in a C2 S1600 , this a driver who used to beat WRCs in a Padoan Clio Williams FA7 ...

I've yust arrived back from Marca. And what a rally, really exceeded my expectations! First of all-Felice Re was driving (almost) like last year's driver of his C4, named Sebastien....No kidding-he was really pushing, making no mistakes, the car was perfect, in the first morning loop right tire choice (it was wet), so deserved victory. Also very positive race for Rudy Michelini-first time in WRC, he can become later in the season ''pain'' for Re, Pede, Porro....Not to forget-Uwe Nittel-first time in s2000 and already quite faster than Italian drivers with the same class cars. He had one ''moment'', damaged a front left part of the car, but nothing seriously....I was talking with him and he was positive surprised about overal performance of Fiesta, except driving uphill, put it midly it is sad.....
At the end-Mini Countryman WRC: seeing it for the first time on the stages and in the pits-it is ugly !! Very tall, long, five doors, this is no WRC, sorry guys.....The sound is the only thing, which drew my attention. For the moment Re&Pedersoli&Michelini have nothing to be afriad of (speaking for Mini).
Again, congrats to Felice&Mara.

I also just came back and I will just quote you , because you said it all ;) Re and Michelini were the fastest by the eye . Cavallini was very good , but I didn't imagine a time difference as big as this . Where ever I watched , Pedersoli was much slower than them . About the Mini , it's extremely ugly , really a pain to watch , but the sound is very nice :) I'd prefer to watch this than a Focus . Also , I must say a very good drive by Roberto Scopel in a C2 S1600 , wherever I was he went really fast . Tagliapietra went very good . I don't know if it's because I saw it for the first time , but the DS3 R3T really FLIES . Was a fantastic Marca , when you have 11 WRCs with really great drivers , you can't go wrong :)

As far as national championship goes , there is no better than Italy , which is a fact . However , they are so used to drive the same stages every year that the don't know how to drive on stages they don't know . Look at 1000 Miglia : you had Simon Jean Joseph , a world class tarmac driver , in a works Clio S1600 and he was fighting for positions 5-10 ... That doesn't seem right to me ...

Speaking for last ten years-all non Italian top drivers, with no expirience on italian tarmac fighting against top Italian drivers were eaisily beaten by Italians. Yust one exception last year-Hanninen's victory on Sardegna, but later on San Remo Andreucci showed him, who the Nb.1 is...Italian drivers are used to their home stages, very clean surface (less cut-cornering), very abrasive tarmac...If you turn round the situation-Italian drivers abroad it is the same story as with other drivers...normaly you can not compare to top drivers, who knows every corner of the stages....it very simple.

Italians are hardly beatable on their home soil but there were more exceptions than You say. Kopecky won Rally del Salento (I think) in straight fight, was second in Costa Smeralda and Como and third in Sardegna. Mikklesen was dominating in Sardegna this year before he retired. The Sanremo last year was won by Andreucci by 4 seconds which can hardly be considered as dominating victory over a Finn on Italian asphalt ;)

And with Neuville's performance in Corsica he'll be an outsider or maybe a nice favorite for San Remo! I think he'll maybe be faster then even Loix who got third there last year.

Salento was for the first time in CIR I believe ( it was TRA before ) so it was new for everyone . You see that , in those conditions , Kopecky can win ;)

Mikklesen was dominating in Sardegna this year before he retired.
0,7s advantage is domination? :) And the rally was Costa Smeralda not Sardegna.

Few years back Italian drivers were fastest almost everywhere in Europe (Travaglia, Basso, Rossetti), but currently it is different. Thanks to IRC mainly.

Luca Rossetti on his FB told something probably about the thing of CiR and stuff. Need an Italian to help to clarify it.

It's great that such a pilot expresses his feelings a bit to the fans. When I asked him if Ypres is a possibility, he said maybe and with that I still hoped on it although some said there's no chance he'll start. But U see he got the budget and will normally start! I was already a fan of him but being so friendly and social makes me even more a bigger fan! Hoping that Travaglia now start would be a nice battle, Fiesta or Fabia is better than Punto but Rossetti loves Ypres and is very fast there!

Interesting , how many DS3R's are already in Italy, it will be an interesting fight between Gasperetti, Vescovi, Bruschetta, maybe Cortinovis will join them.....Anyway, good luck to Felice&Mara !!

Indeed Tom, Felice Re and Roberto Vescovi are from another planet!! Felice is usually strugling with Pedersoli, but today he has a comfort lead after yust three stages. Vescovi is showing his and DS3's potential-already more than half minute in front of first Clio R3!

Rally Lanterna is finished, Felice Re&Mara Bariani won. Congratulations to both of them! But R.Vescovi is definitely the driver of this rally-sixth place in DS3R3T !!! And finally Ferrecchi was beaten-until this rally (he was present at yust one or two rallyes per season) he was always in front of F.Re&Co, but apparently those times have passed....Re is making progress, that is for sure!!

Tom206wrc

My translation from italian:
Rox lost 37s due to technical problem (he even stopped on the stage), Perico had problems with hand brake, Scandola had a crash but continued, Rendina crashed into Crugnola and later crashed again, but this time out of the rally.
Very slippery ss3 was won by Pisi. Hitchcock stage :D

Stage stopped?

[Madeira-Rally]
17th June 2011, 10:03
Yes... stage stopped...dure to accident between Rendina and Crognola, etc...

Rox lost 37 sec. because he a had a problem with seatbelt and had to stop to fix it.

So end of day one
Pisi ahead of Ucci(+12")and Perico...
Rox 5th, Angrisani(1st GrN)6th, Campedelli(1st GrR)7th and Scandola 8th...

Note the nice battle in GrR/Junior as Nucita is only +5" behind Campedelli ;)

Ucci
18th June 2011, 09:17
Today's first stage is over, fastest was U.Scandola (interesting-8 seconds slower than last year fastest stage time, made by Kopecky), four seconds behind Umberto was Andreucci. The overall leader A.Pisi made a small mistake, lost almost 13 seconds. I think after next stage we will have a new overall leader...

[Madeira-Rally]
18th June 2011, 11:02
Maybe the conditions are very differrent... yesterday the stage times were also much slower then times made by Basso las year or two years ago..

[Madeira-Rally]
18th June 2011, 11:06
Ucci is pushing a lot... I think that in the next stage he will be the new leader :)

Also ROX or Scandola should be in front of Cunico at the end of the rally..

In the Jr. really interesting battle between Campedelli and Nuscita... yesterday Campedelli was faster.. today.. Nuscita is on the lead!!

Tom206wrc
18th June 2011, 12:46

18th June 2011, 15:45
Yes, Andreucci again !!! His sixth title is almost in his hands! Well done Alesio Pisi, deserved second place. Cempedelli again clearly the fastest in 2WD (after the Nuscita's retairment). Pitty for the old guy F.Cunico, he should stand on the podium.....

Complication after the Salento rally: Elwis Chentre and his team Vieffecorse gave an appeal to the responsible persons of the rally because Elwis hit a stone on one stage, by the inspection of the inboards from the crews driving in front of him and after him, nowebody from others encountered this stone.....As Vieffecorse got no positive reply from the race director, the team & Chentre decided not to attend CIR 2011 anymore.

Rally Appeninno Reggiano next event of TRA this week-end ;)
No Felice Re(present at the Rally Ticino counting for swiss championship)and no Luca Pedersoli :(

They have new rules this year for this championship.
Rally Appeninno Reggiano is for class B (http://www.rallylink.it/pdf/classifiche/2011/tra_conduttori.pdf).

Drivers will participate in all the rallies of a group and the two finals. The lack of participation in a race will result in the loss of the right to acquire scores.
They can use only two results per round, in which the score will be awarded for overall and for each CSAI Cup scheduled according to the following
ladder: 10,8,6,5,4,3,2,1.
Final rallies will have access to all drivers who have received scores of three events and have participated in a round of rallies in the two finals will be scheduled
the following ladder of scores: 25,18,15,12,10,8,6,4,2,1.

I think Mikkelsen have control, but he has been first on the road. In the second loop it will maybe be more equal. Mikkelsen wants full pointscoring in this event and Travaglia are not competing in the TRT so I dont think they think so much of Travaglias stagetimes.
