Some people says that some championships are boring to the domination of two marques (WRC: Citroën & Ford, IRC: Škoda & Peugeot), but C.I.R. is only a Peugeot cup this year.

Have the impression that level is a lot lower than other years, still the same competitors (without Basso maybe).

What is the reason of retirement from Umberto Scandola?
Defect on an oil pressure sensor.

I can't agree. There is no Basso and Travaglia. Last year there were also Kopecky and Signor. We lost Navarra for gravel championships, Longhi has budget problems (and he is not so fast anymore - like Cunico). Perico and Perego are just the drivers that can take the 3rd step of the podium.
The main problem is there are only two "new" drivers (Scandola and Chentre) with enough speed to catch guys that are on the scene for a long time. I remember that few (two or three?) years ago I hoped Michelini or Signor (after their battle in s1600 class) could be dangerous, but they failed.

There is still some fire under the bonnet of Punto Grande S2000-Rossetti is leading after first day. Andreucci is close to him, third Perico almost 50 seconds behind. But surprise again-young S.Cempedelli with small DS3R3 already in the fourt place. And we are talking over CIR race!!! No ordinary village rally....But on the other hand this also shows the competition level of CIR today. One or two years ago it was unthinkable to have yust a front driven car among first ten position....Anyway, Cempedelli Nb.1 !!

Partly you are right! But if you look closer, there are few N4 cars behind him-and still N4 car is much superior against DS3R3, and even more important, Cempedelli was all the time doing same or even a bit faster times than Perego with Mini JWC RRC.
But I agree with you (and I wrote this earlier), the fact to have 2WD car so high in the classification is not to be proud of (speaking from organizer & ACI club perspective).

True there are a few N4s behind but Simone Campedelli is a high class driver :) As for Perego , he is the biggest dissapointment for me this year . He was a god driver in my opinion with the Evo , but the times with the Mini have been very poor throughout the whole season .

I think Crugnola is "at home" on this rally explaining why he's so fast

16th September 2011, 18:06
Nothing new in Italy, as it almost look like a surprise with Scandola;a destroyed engine in Umberto's Fiesta interrupted his excellent driving..... but is always a big ???? how fast was Andreucci really pushing.
Anyway, Andreucci leading after the first day, yust nine seconds behind him Roxsy; Pisi is almost two minutes behind on the third place-that shows real skills of Andreucci and Rossetti, they are from ''other planet'' compare to others.
Both DS3's are again showing their superiority in the 2WD class. Well done Citroën !!!

Tom206wrc
16th September 2011, 18:06
That's not over yet: Ucci has only 9"2 advantage over Rox for 5 stages left tomorrow ;)

Strange the puncture of Crugnola in SS10(+ 3' lost to change a tyre) :s I suspect a kind of team order from Citroën in order Campedelli to be "safe" winner of GrR and get junior title

4"4 is the new gap between Ucci and Rox with a superspecial and a 13km long stage to run this afternoon :D

wwbroe
17th September 2011, 21:03
So, Andreucci wins once again in front of Rox with Cunico in third step of podium.

Ucci
17th September 2011, 21:15
It is over: Andreucci won this event, although Rossetti managed to close the gap; at the end the gap was yust 4,7 seconds. Still, deserved victory for winning this event to Andreucci-and not forget, he is sixth time national champion.
But for me personally the hero of this rally was definitely the ''old gun'' Franco Cunico-he pushed to the limit and overtook Alesio Pisi. Nice to see old guy on the podium; by the way, he won the title in the ''Indipendenti category''!! According to the rumors this was his last season in CIR. He will be soon 55 years old....
Congrats to young S.Cempedelli, as I predict he ended this rally among first ten drivers and also won the title in the category of young drivers.
Season 2011 is finished, what will happen next year??? Will there be a driver who will finally be able to fight whole season against Ucci??? I'm not sure.....

Yes, I think of the same. When I started watching rallies, both Snijers and Cunico were already top names in this sport. Now, 20 years later, they are still there and still fighting for top positions. Amazing! It's only a shame that Cunico didn't make any international career. But still... to have such speed being 55 years old is unbelieveable! Congratulations!

And what's even more impressive is that Snijers entered Ypres rally for the 33th time on a row and was still a big contender if u see he finished 4th in his debut with the Mini against a top field of International contenders! Snijers is the only Musketeer who's very active Duez and Droogmans u probably see only in the Legend Boucles de Spa and Ypres Historic but if they enter it's to win and be spectacular, Robert won once again there against all Historic contenders who have rhythm :D . They all still got it and all those Musketeers u can put them in every car they'll be always fast and spectacular!

Yesterday finished Azzano rally, a gravel event. Andreas Mikkelssen won six out of eight stages, he won with a huge advantage over Luca Rossetti. It is obviously that Grande Punto has no chance on the gravel against Skoda Fabia, it must be very frustrating for Rossetti to lost a fight on the home soil.
At the moment Rally degli Abeti (valid for I.R.C) is held, Manuel Sossella (last year's champion of this series) is in comfortable lead in front of D.Oldrati (both with C4 WRC), the third position has Eddie Sciessere with Clio S1600.

Maybe Punto isn't the reason ? :) I think it way too optimistic to expect Rox to compete against Mikkelsen on gravel even in a Fabia so there's no reason to be frustrated . Just look how slow he was in Poland . The only Italian who can maybe do that is Ucci ;) Note a greta 3rd place for Andrea de Luna ;)

How do you explain his performance in Poland ? 4 and a half minutes behind the winner Kajetanowicz . I'm sure Mikkelsen would fight for the victory even on his first Rally Poland , at least he wouldn't get 4 and a half minutes . For me , it's much more realistic to see his perfomances a few weeks ago than a few years ago to see his form on gravel .

Yes indeed all about the money and the fans and vips who're there. Only difference between a Criterium after Tour de France is that the winner will be the real winner and not already chosen before the start.

Not a bad first rally(in fact ronde on gravel)in "new" cars for Stefano Albertini and Luca Gheghin at the Prealpi Mastershow :)

Both discover their new cars and both are leading their class after 3 passages :)
Albertini is leading S2000(4th overall)and Gheghin took the lead in R3/2WD(32nd overall)

The regular driver hasn't been chosen yet, but among candidates are Luca Rossetti and Bernardo Sousa. I keep my fingers crossed for Rox. Only he will be able to show if the car has potential or not. The car is going to be homologated in March. The debut rally may be Mille Miglia. Good luck to this project!

Rally del Carnevale-as I predict an easy and convincing victory for Matteo Gamba. French guest M.Guigou showed a solid impression, unfortunately he recived 40sec time penalty, but even without this penalty he was not able to match M.Rovatti in Clio R3.
Look at the first minute of short video-Gamba (Nb.2, yellow 207), what an attraction:

The black livery and main sponsor Pirelli, had to use the Rally of Radicofani - Val D'Orcia, but in the end Paul was not the course, because delayed by one week from initial date, due to difficulties in reaching the small town in the Apennines (was the period in which half Italy was below 2 meters of snow).
So that was a test livery, then do not even know if the CIR.
Other riders at the start, the Sicilian driver, Fofò di Benedetto on Peugeot 207 S2000 (only run on asphalt), Gabriele Cogni (Peugeot 207 R3T - we talk about all the CIR), Max Rendina (Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X). A few more news about others as Alessandro Perico (ERC or CIR), Renato Travaglia and Andrea Navarra.

In the Land Trophy (TRT) some protagonists are Fabio Gianfico (Italian Champion of Group N in 2011), Sardinian driver, Giuseppe Dettori, who will almost certainly at the start of a Fiesta S2000. Even in stand-by other drivers like Teemu Arminen, Daniel Batistini, Mauro Trentin.

In TRA, now only certain Vellani and Spartaro Peugeot 207 S2000, the rest just rumors, as Felice Re and Claudio Addis of Citroen C4 (but almost certainly will become official soon), yet unknown Luca Pedersoli (WRC or American Championship)

Welcome to this forum. About P.Longhi: one is almost 100% sure-he will drive Mini Cooper (by Twister Corse). But it is still not 100% clear, wheather he will drive in C.I.R (for this national championship he will be forsed to use RRC specification) or in a T.R.A (tarmac championship), where also WRC cars are allowed and therefore he can drive WRC specification.
More will be known in this month as the first round of C.I.R starts on the last weekend.

Well guys, it is not so bad after all!! What did you expect?? 150 entries??
If you look for the past few years, Ciocco never offered something special regarding huge number of entries.
About drivers, which you mentioned Jarek: Rossetti will drive in Turkey, Basso is conected with Proton in SWRC, Longhi will obviously drive Mini in TRA, Travaglia was not present in CIR for the last two seasons, Cuncio retaired, Dallavilla is almost forgotten name in CIR, Fontana was never seriousley present in CIR (he is a gentelman driver in TRA). The only two who I miss are Andrea Perego & Elwis Chentre. I hope they will join CIR already on the second race.
The real question is : will be Scandola able to give some fight to Andreucci?? If he can not do that, then we can expect yust an easy walk towards seventh championship crown for Andreucci.

Indeed, Paolo Andreucci put things were they belong....he won with a solid margin against his biggest rival, young Umberto Scandola. Third, Mauro Trentin already more than minute and half behind. Again very solid result from DS3 R3T driver Cempedelli and also astonishing performance by Finish driver Pajunen in Twingo R2-tenth place, in front of much stronger opposition with front driven cars and even some N4 cars....
