Anyone on here been to Rally Legend before? What are your impressions of the event? I'm thinking of going next year for sure.
How easy is it to meet the drivers and get autographs for example?

Never been there but I know some friend who did. Everyone says the same: spectacular.
It is also easy to meet drivers etc, everything (SP and stages) are relatively close to each other

I have only been to the stages (which is something I highly recommend)... I am not so much of a start struck person and most of the people competing were active before I was born so... even if I was star struck I don't have that much connection with almost any of the drivers.
The machinery though, that's something you can appreciate for sure! Bring ear plugs! ...and visit San Marino the city while you are there, it is very intesresting :)

I've visited Rally Legend many times (last year last time....it was so hot...), sometimes I stayed for two days. It was always a spectacular event, stages are close, the teams are located around the centre of the main stage "the Legend"...
Definitely on my schedule next year.....

Not usual for Ucci to do these kind of mistakes. I've seen the onboard, it was a slight left before the hairpin in the right. Not an easy section because after the left turn you have the car balanced to turn left but if you are an experienced and winning driver like Paolo you know what to do.
I think it happened because he already won this year and the concentration can't be the same but also because manufacturer title was not yet sure even if it was enough for one between him and Tassone to stay in the top7 or 8. Anyway when the goal is too much easy it can bring you to drive with the fear to make something stupid, and this is when it actually happens.
Or maybe these are just too much words and he made just a mistake. :)

Still not an official news but in 2016 championship there might be a change in the points system and format of the rallies. It could become like Australian championship with Heat 1 and Heat 2 (or like WTCC, if you want), so 2-days rallies with drivers scoring points for each day, treating the days as different rounds. And the points given would be 7,5-6-5-3,5-3-2,5-2-1,5-1-0,5 per day...
I hope this isn't true, anyone knows more? So sad...

Even with day points it would be idiotic. Rally events in CIR are barely more than 100 kms. Giving bonus points for a 50kms day, most of the times in a couple of stages repeated also 3 times, is for dumb people. This new point system is even worst, actually I don't think we should call him rally.
Really, these people needs medical treatments.

Monza Rally Show is a joke. Valentino Rossi will be there with "modified" Fiesta and with his fans pretending he would be at the top in the WRC because he will beat other WRCs unless, hopefully, Neuville.
And a "Rally" hosted in a circuit with balloons that design turns is a circus more than a rally. Can't understand what is interesting in all this but maybe it's just me that can't appreciate it.

That's Masters Show stage, buddy.
Maybe because that's Italian version of ROC (even predated ROC, since 1978), and some of the WRC, F1, & MotoGP drivers are participating there.

It is just you.....Monza rally show is a great event. I've participated many times and has been always great.
It is the same for all and if Rossi wins, it is just a shame for regular rally drivers to be beaten by him. Imagine a show vice-versa, would let say Longhi be faster on motorcycle compare to VR? I doubt....

No particular problem (apart a 5s penalty for cone overturn). He's just complaining "with these tyres it's not possible". It seems Pirelli are more fitted for Monza.

seems like that.
Thierry Neuville: unfortunately the court evidence we can defend ourselves is a sin, but unfortunately we do not have the tires that let us not waste time on lengthy trials
Tony Cairoli: all right, we went well, the second time
[To report that Tony uses the Michelin and Pirelli in court evidence in the trials long. In this test, however, he has used Pirelli]

Well it was quite an easy win actually. I have to correct you btw, he is not popular at all in Italy, he's popular in the rally niche, which is very little nowadays.
It has surprised me also the result of the "rally surprise of the year". I think Andolfi should have easily won, and Tempestini should not even be second because also Tassone has been more a promise/surprise than him.

It will be messy following Race 2 tomorrow... maybe here http://rally.ficr.it/default.asp?p=Ym9keV9sZWd0aW1lcy5hc3A/cF9Bbm5vPTIwMTYmcF9Db2RpY2U9MzE2JnBfTWFuaWZlc3Rhem lvbmU9NiZwX0dhcmE9MSZwX0xpbmd1YT1JVEE

Some thought about my day at Rally del Ciocco.
1) The rally. Il Ciocco shows another time why he deserves a safe place in the italian championship. Spectators come in high quantity every year. you see a pretty good organization (no one is stucked on access roads etc), and there are not stages repeated three times and that kind of stuff. A pity the stages are almost all the same every year. But that's it I don't think they have too much possibility to change the itinerary in a more drastic way.
Now let's go with top 5 drivers.
Tempestini: in the last 3 years this guy has spent more time driving a rally car than a normal one. Neverthless he is still not impressing anyone. I didn't expect him to be at the pace of guys who have driven these roads dozens of times but not to be so slower. Ok it's just the first rally of the year, maybe the surface is not his favourite, but there must come a moment when these kind of stuff will not count if he wants to impress.
Perico: he's doing his job. Not that it is an easy one. He is a very good tarmac driver, he's not the same pace of the other three but he's playing on a different league. Very nice that sometimes he manages to be amongst them in terms of timing.
Scandola: he has been a bit unlucky but also a bit under what we would expect from him. Actually I find it hard to criticise him. He was by far the most spectacular driver today. From where I want he showed great speed, control, skills and yes he was amazing to spectate. He looked faster than he actually was.
Basso: Very pleased to see "Giando" in great shape. Only 14s from Andreucci in Paolo's home rally is not easy outcome. Looked on the limit when I saw him. Great drive.
Andreucci: Guys, I don't know what to say about him. 50 years and still kicking asses, more hungry than a young gun. He is a pleasure for the eye. He wasn't spectacular, was actually quite smooth and clean but this man is a real champion. You could really see a different style, different lines, I would say different planet. I suspect he wasn't even pushing too much.
I think his attitude, at his age, and his love for what he does is an example for everyone. It is a tragedy he could not measure himself with the world best rally drivers.
Next to me there was a guy filming with a pretty professional camera. Hope he will upload some videos on youtube so that you can see what I'm talking about. :)
See you tomorrow for day2.
P.S. I say it again. This shit of having to rankings and two races in one weekend is not rally and someone should put an end to this farce.

I'm expecting also fearless fights in the R2 class.

Indeed, nobody expected that Roxsy will win-this is extreme success.
But still one WRC driver showed huge progress-young Alex Re, still learning DS3WRC (he has very limited expirience with WRC) , was pushing very hard from stage to stage. At the end he missed just 0,3 against Roxsy.

Andreucci was opening the road yesterday and he’s probably doing the same today. CIR rules takes independent leg results but leg 2 running order is the same of leg 1.
Yes, I forgot to point that out but of course it is the main reason he is not among the firsts.
As said, today is Colombini's turn to shine. Good job!

Yes, according to local rally sites GPL car for Campedelli and petrol car for Basso on this event (both runned by BRC team).

Grande Umberto Scandola! Won both events, he showed again his speed, I think he will be first favourite on gravel stages around San Marino. Also very good race for Denis Colombini and Simone Cempedelli. Both "veterans" Basso and Andreucci couldn't cope with their younger rivals.
By the way-no technical troubles for all five crews. That is good to hear.
Did Ucci have problems or have the other drivers/manufacturers caught up?
I'm used to him winning always and now he's down the order....

He cleaned them just on the first run. That why it is strange that he did not try to push on the second run. Listening to Ucci's comments-he didn't have any particular problem...not his day. Shame....but it is not the end of the world.

I was checking results from Ronde del Ticino and saw the winner -Kevin Gilardoni.
I've never heard of this guy, it must be his first drive with WRC and already a victory. He was faster than some gentelman WRC drivers (like Felice Re), so now I am wondering if WRC is so simple to drive that a guy with some talent (and a lot's of €€€, of course) can be so fast in first attempt??
Felice Re has to be the best name ever... "Happy King"

Clearly a rally to forget for Andreucci; one retirement due to his error and "just" 4th place on the second day.....and all this on his favourite surface. He contiouned his bad driving from Adriatico. If he does't win on Alpi end of August, the 10th crown will be difficult to catch...
Huge congrats to Basso, also a very strong performance by Cempedelli and Colombini.

Rally Casentino will be held on friday and saturday here in Tuscany.
No intenational guest this year but still a very very nice entry list:
9 WRCs, a dozen R5 and 119 entries in total.
Among them:
Luca Rossetti with R5 (he won in rally del Taro a month ago with a R5 against WRCs), Andrea Nucita with Fiesta R5, first time at Casentino. Alessandro and Felice Re from Messeri Team (father and son) with a DS3 and a Focus WRC.
Rudy Michelini finally in a WRC, then Sossella, Chentre and many other. Also d'Aste, who is a race driver, will be there. He just did some rallyshow but never a proper rally. Curious to see what will he do.
Very difficult to guess a winner! I will be there on saturday and will keep you up to date if possible.
Perhaps, for the first time in my life I will take some videos, since now I collaborate for a website here in Italy, but just with my phone and with no clue on how to do it properly lol.

Kubica's impressions after the rally:
"It was nice to put on a helmet again and get into the rally car, even if Clio1600 will become a historical car soon. We have reached our goals. Checking the gear selection system was one of them. We also did it for fun, but it is normal that everyone wants to do well. It was not a lot of driving, about 70 kilometres on 7 stages, but still it was fun, though not easy. Especially behind the wheel of a front wheel drive car on the dirty roads.
Not everything went perfect. Unfortunately on the last stage we've got a puncture. It was a turn everyone was cutting and we hit a sharp edge of the road, 8 kilometres before the finish. Two kilometres later the tyre came completely off the rim. It is not easy to drive a FWD car like that, especially on a long downhill section. We lost a lot of time.
I would like to thank people who helped me in the preparations, the team and also Maciek Szczepaniak, who have found some time just before Rally Finland to sit with me in the car."

Rally Valli Cuneesi (I.R.C), started yesterday and already on the 2nd stage bad luck for the Rossetti-he punctured and lost almost four minutes. Rally is lost for him and probbably also the championship (if Alessandro Re does not retire...)
At the moment Re yunior is leading the rally, the only who is close to him is Elwis Chentre.
BTW-yestreday also punctured Rudy Michelini and according to his interview he was so ''disappointed'', that he even didn't change the wheel and retaired???!! Pussy...

The new I.R.C champion is Elwis Chentre !! He won Rally Valli Cuneesi. Luca Rossetti managed to get to the 5th position, but unfortunatelly this was not enough for the final victory. But in my eyes he is a moral winner, no doubt about it !
Alessandro Re was leading the rally, but on the last stage lost more than six minutes due to flat tyre....

Sorry guys - another Rally Legend question. Where is the best place to get tickets from? You can order them online but it's only letting me pick them up at the rally. So I'm thinking maybe I'll just buy them when I get over there?

Hello all sorry it is a fast weekend and we back to Eid Kurban holiday.
Eskisehir is a tough one for us. We had 3th Place over all with DS R5 because lost alot of time due to headlights didnt work properly at night stages. Any way it was good points. Also Ds R3t has the 4th place overall.
Next one is at Istanbul at ex WRC stages all gravel at 23th of September.

Big pressure for Basso and Andreucci, who are very close in championship. Unfortunately Andreucci has ''worst cards''- to be competetive with PSA R5 car against Fiesta or Škoda is illusion...
