True, to beat Italian crews on their home stages, is definitely success to be proud of it.

Aftera summer break, the Italian WRC championship is going to be contiuined this week-end around Friuli.
The list for modern cars looks more than promissing:
http://www.rallyalpiorientali.it/A18%20Elenco%20Iscritti%20Moderne.pdf
This time Rossetti has no chance for overal victory, Albertini & Corrado Fontana and Manuel Sossela are to strong with their WRC machinery. I hope that Perico will be at least a bit up against Rossetti, otherwise Rossetti has nobody to fight with in R5 class.

This event has a coeff.1,5, therefore special atention for Cempedelli and Scandola is required-they can not afford retirement. Andreucci will sweep the stages (Nb.1), so he can only dream winning it. Scandola is a clear favorite, this time he has even advantage in tyres (D-Mack).

Classifica CIR assoluta ad una prova dal termine:
1. Umberto Scandola 57.5 punti
2. Paolo Andreucci 57.0 punti
3. Simone Campedelli 52,0 punti
4. Andrea Crugnola 45,0 punti

My god, I can't belive-Andreucci lost control while driving on the last stage, damaged the car, lost a lot of time, lost places.....luckly he finished the stage....stupid....
As I predicted Umby Scandola won the event, now he is in the lead of the championship!
The only relief to Andreucci is a fact, that on the last C.I.R event (Due Valli) Scandola will be without any chance to win because he is driving on D-Mack.

The last round of Italian rally championship, Rally Due Valli (Rally of Two Valleys), will be held on October 12-13. This event will decide who is Italian champion for this year. Four drivers still have a chance for the title - Scandola, Andreucci, Campedelli and Crugnola.

C.I.R. 2018 is over. The champion again Paolo Andreucci. Deep respect for this achivement!
This year Paolo was lucky, after the first half of the season it looked that the crown is going to be ''a piece of cake'', but than came accidents & retairements and Scandola was leading. In addition it must be said, that Simone Cempedelli is faster than Paolo, althoug a lot of ''strange'' technical troubles prevented Simone to fight for the championship.
About competitiveness of P208R5 compare to Fabia and now even i20 is not worth to discuss (almost like a chariot to a car). So, a very tactical approach in the last race made the 11th crown possible.
So, Andreucci's aaccomplishments will remain forever in the history of Italian racing, no doubt about that.
IMO-I hope Paolo will stop with rallying, at his age (53) he has nothing to prove anymore; if he say ''goodbye'' at the peak of his success, it would be best decision.

Cempedelli - Rally Roma Capitale: broken rear axle-shaft already on the 1st (city) stage, without touching anything

Crungola (also Fiesta R5): - Targa Florio: broken wheel hub on the 4th stage

Let's not be conspirationists. Campedelli has never proved to be faster than Ucci which is 52yrs and drive an inferior car and still was faster.
Campedelli and his team manager have moaned all year long but the fact is that they have been slower and they should first blame themselves.
I really don't like all these polemics every year. CIR could have been a wonderful show but it's ruined by people trying to sabotage each other both in the stages and outside the cars.
Organization should think how to revive and innovate a sport and a federation who is stopped at 20 years ago (hell even 50yrs old driver are still faster. Rossetti won the rally and Ucci the championship, this must mean something...). Instead they are only good to keep their chairs safe. It's a pity because in terms of athletes, roads and show the championship is one of the best among the nationals.

No, it's not strange.
Broken driveshaft or any part of the drive-train mostly happens during starts from zero or 1st gear acceleration. If a part is deffective (espceially if it's a new part) it can happen already in the first stage. That's nothing strange. In fact it happen pretty often and a city stage is exactly the place where driveshafts get extremely loaded.
Electrical problems is something what happens. don't see anything strange here.
Broken wheel hub was a pretty common issue for Fiestas during the summer. Some wheel hubs were defective. The same happened all over the Europe. For example to Pech and Černý on Barum.
Dimviii is right. There is absolutely nothing strange to be seen here. Just take down the tinfoil hat.

First, I follow C.I.R very close for almost 20 years and in the last two seasons Simone was always faster than Ucci. Which is normaly because of the car(but technical problems and drivers errors hampered his standing in the C.I.R)...and I'm not going to proof you with checking the 2018 results(do it by yourselve).
Second, of course was Roxys faster than Ucci....Ucci was driving for thr championship, it would be very stupid to fight with Roxy. And even i20 is a space shuttle (Roxy drove all last modifications; he admited that the car progressed extremly) compare to old P208.

Me too I watch it closely and for sure last year he wasn't faster. This year Ucci was still generally faster on tarmac (except maybe rally elba) which is 70-80% of the championship. You told me to go watch results but I highly recommend you to do it yourself as well. Look at stage results on Ciocco, Sanremo etc...

THat stone was there 4-5 cars before Campedelli and they were fallen from a wall from the side of the road. These kind of things happen in every rally of the world, I will never understand all the noise they've made.
The team manager also said that Ucci already knew Adriatic itinerary because he made a sort of spot about the rally talking about the stages before the stages were official. I'm not informed on this though...

It will be interesting to see how fast the car is on Your really twisty asphalt stages. Polo has very long wheelbase for a modern rally car and together with no center differential it might be a disadvantage.

Some event have a 1,5 coefficient because they love to make things complicated without any sense. And also they love tarmac very much since 6 events are on asphalt and only 2 are on gravel.

There has been a lot of debates on this forum (and in pub's discussions...) over Rossi's skills at Autodromo Monza. One is for sure-this is no rally; it is a circuit racing, with some obstacles & artificial chicanes (I was many time participing it). But anyway-they are sitting in pure rally cars and man would expect, that one werks-driver (or one Italian rally star, like Perico / speaking just for drivers driving WRC cars on this event) wolud be much faster than Rossi, not to mention Cairoli or Salucci, who are here just for fun....
I don't know how is feeling for example Suninen, who is already half minute behind Rossi....beenig a M-Sport driver and loosing time on tarmac against ''nobody'' like Rossi, can not be something proud of it....
On the other hand, this is a 100% proof, that modern WRC cars are very easy to drive on this kind of stages, with some training you can beat top rally stars....so, hat down in front of Valentino.
Enough of fastest guys-Polo R5 must be awesome car (with plenty of power/in this event power is Nb.1 fact) as young Alex Re is fighting with Rosseti. And gives me tears in eyes, when I see gap from 11x times Italian champion behind Re...P208 R5 is really piece of crap....the car is mature for a museum.

He was among the most rumoured candidates for the drive together with Basso and Scandola.
I'm happy for Rossetti because he deserves it but it's also kind of sad that Italy is no more capable to deliver higly competitive young drivers.
Imho no one is at the level of or has the potential to become like Rossetti, Ucci and Basso at the moment. and don't know if someone will ever be.

AFAIK it will be a different team but there will be some former member of Ucci's staff into it.
Ucci is waiting for some offer from Peugeot. He said in an interview he would have liked to try something outside Italy. He's waiting for them, if they are not capable to give him a program he will have to decide if try to find something from other manufacturers or retire.

11 times CIR winner Andreucci will retire from CIR along with his co-driver and partner Anna Andreussi.
He will stay at Peugeot to develop the 208 and maybe he will run some rally here and there.
Andreucci and Andreussi have been a legend and kept winning despite the inferior car and their age. They were really in love with the sport and I think they are an example for every driver and codriver.
We will miss them, I wish them the best for their new challenges.

Well done to them for their illustrious, should I say legendary careers, obviously it was a tough decision for them, but to have the choice to bow out while still on the top is something not many have the opportunity to do.
Do you know which 208 will he help with? The new R2T or R5?

Basso seemed a bit lost on Sicilian tarmac, but I do not doubt that he will push again for the victory already on next event.

Last round of Italian championship round (C.I.R) is ahead of us-Tuscan Rewind (gravel). As the event has a coeficient 1,5, many scenarios are possible.
Entry list: https://www.tuscanrewind.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/elenco-tuscan-rewind.pdf
Nice to se Paolo Andreucci and Renato Travaglia back! Special guest: Tony Carioli (multiple MXGP champion)
So, here are some scenarios for the champion crown:
- Basso: if he wins, he is the champion. He will be a champion even on the 2nd place, but Cempedelli must not win.
- Cempedelli : if he wins, he is the champion. Even if he is at the end on the 2nd place, he will be a champ, but Basso and Crungola must not win.
- Crungola: he must win and Basso must not be at the on the 2nd place-in this case he is the champion!
- Rossetti: if he wants to open a champaigne, he must win, but Cempedelli and Basso must be on 3rd position (or lower..)
So, an intensive weekend in front of us!

Nails of Montalcino: please silence
in Editorials, Rubrics / by Gianni Cogni
The news of the statement presented by Simone Campedelli before and then by Luca Rossetti regarding Montalcino nails, with the delivery of the incriminated tires, inevitably generated discussions, even with misplaced interpretations. Basso and Granai won and they did it in the clearest and most deserved way (they made more points and won more races than everyone) and there are no complaints against the winner or against the verdict.
The Campedelli and Rossetti teams have chosen to point out the incident by delivering (it had already happened with less clamor to the Two Valleys) to the technical commissioners as it leads to the suspicion of sabotage (aka drilling caused by nails intentionally positioned by unknown persons).
Thus asking ACI Sport for any evaluation of the incident in the approval of the Tuscan Rewind result, an act that takes place for all rallies to endorse the regularity of the performance after the examination of the dossier. The precedent of San Martino di Castrozza 2012 is a rarity, perhaps even a unicum, but it exists.
No one has pointed a finger at anyone in particular, neither explicitly nor undercurrents. But the objective fact remains that this story of sabotage and in particular of nails (but there are also brake hoses cut in Guglielmini) is becoming a sort of haunting refrain that only damages everything and everyone, above all the same specialty.
This is the problem, not the fantastic victory of Basso in a season where he has had to beat not only his opponents but also the difficulties that have gradually developed and of which the change of the racing team was just one example.

With very small differences, the first special held yesterday left Dani Sordo and Carlos del Barrio as best representatives of the South Korean firm, with Breen fifth and Andreas Mikkelsen even out of the Top10. Andrea Crugnola was at the top of the classification with the Volkswagen Polo GTI R5, ahead of Marco Bonanomi and his Skoda Fabia R5. The Varese rider would get his second consecutive scratch, already in the 20.5 kilometers of the Roccolo, while Sordo settled in the third, just after Andrea Nucita, while Breen climbed to the fourth, in his second participation in the test.
We had to wait until Saturday to see the true rhythm of Dani Sordo, author of the best time in the longest special, Grand Prix, of 44.83 kilometers, while Crugnola clung to the first place, holding four seconds of rent over Sordo . It was time to start managing traffic on the track, especially with the slower competitors, who lost precious time to the head men when they were found in the chicane and hairpin areas of the finish line. Precisely at one of these points there was the misunderstanding that would leave Piero Longhi out of the race, a regular test, which had a touch with Alessandro Bosca.
Ahead, the last two sections of the day, with Dani Sordo leading the way after the penultimate tour of the day in which Andrea Crugnola would have a touch with Craig Breen that would lead the Irishman to cross the finish line with a visible anger. Those 2.3 seconds of advantage of Sordo in the head of the race seemed to be the necessary change of trend for the Cantabrian couple, however, engine problems in his Hyundai i20 R5 would lead him to mark only the 23rd clock in the last leg , falling to third place (+9.3 seconds), while Andrea Nucita is second to 5.6 of Crugnola, back to the lead.
There would also be a change of order between Breen and Mikkelsen, taking advantage of the fact that the Norwegian was gradually gaining confidence with the R5 of the South Korean firm. A tenth separates the two futurists from Andrea Adamo. Luca Rossetti on the other hand had to say goodbye after experiencing brake problems during the morning and suffering an afternoon contact with Matteo Beretta that damaged the suspension of the Citroën C3 R5. For his part, Valtteri Bottas is the leader of the Rallycircuit in Paul Ricard with almost 20 seconds over Robert Consani.

Think you are mixing it up a bit. The final you are referring to was the Masters show after the rally where Hyundai motorsport didn't start in the R5 category but instead ran their own 4vs4 between their drivers in WRCs... with Adamo commenting. From my Italian he sounded quite happy (for him):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhpjGW9qRhI
They used 2 cars so drivers were constantly swapping, also note that the cars were the "old" spec with old air intake and rear diffuser.
Round 1
1 Sordo 4:13.25
0 Mikkelsen 4:13.56
1 Breen 4:12.05
0 Neuville 4.13.54
Round2
2 Sordo 4:11.1
1 Breen 4:14.36
1 Neuville 4:13.0
0 Mikkelsen 4:13.64
Round 3
2 Neuville 4:11.11
2 Sordo 4:11.94
1 Mikkelsen 4:12.81
1 Breen 4:14.11
=> Sordo and Neuville 2 wins each, Mikkelsen and Breen 1 each
Final
Sordo 4:11.36
Neuville 4:12.18
