So, Rox is doing great and taking 3 stagewins, Andreucci is little bit disappointing to me, as is Longhi in the Fabia. Rally is still long, but very good results for Abaths untill now. :)

1. Rosetti
2. Andreucci at 8"7
3. Travaglia at 10"7
4. Scandola at 13"1
5. Medici at 46"4
6. Perico at 51"2

So, I'm back from vacation and what do I see: my favourite driver Mr.Andreucci leading the rally!! I saw in the morning Rossetti spun and lost the lead, but now is Travaglia very close to Ucci...Longhi needs still some time to become competitive to Ucci,Roxy, Trava...on tarmac! And Cantamessa will be BF-Goodrich driver on this year San Remo. Nice, he deserves!!

[Madeira-Rally]
29th August 2009, 15:11
2 stages to go and 1.6 sec separating Ucci and Travaglia... impressive batle for the frist place... it's a pitty that Rox made a spin and lost a lot of time.. this could be a a 3 drivers fight for the first place...

Especially I'm happy that privat 207 won so important race-this is a think, which makes also CIR and IRC much more atractive than WRC!! Therefore no excuses for privat S2000 cars in IRC-yust driving skills, courage, good tyre choice, some luck and throtle to the bottom! Look Travaglia.....

Paolo Andreucci-genius on gravel ! Again he proved himself and others that on this kind of surface there is no competitor, which could keep his pace...With this result he also climbed to the top of the national championship table. Fully deserved and fair! Once again-excellent job Paolo&Anna&Peugeot !!

With all due respect to Travaglia(especially his devotion on searching the finances), but we must admit that Andreucci deserves the title the most. Do not forget his convincing victories on the gravel, where novebody can not compare with him and on the tarmac he is always in the play for the win (even with tyre disatvantage-Pirelli is not working well on high temperatures).

Fantastic display of adaptation to brand new car from Serkan Yazıcı. As you may know, Yazıcı started the season with Grande Punto S2000 with Lassa Rally Team, which is regarded as a practice year for the Turkish Tyre Supplier for the global market. Yazici is definitely a hero of rallying in Turkey, and after 2 year-break, he returned to the stages with the team last year in Turkish Rally Championship. For short, I'm satisfied with his maiden season in Italy, and belive in Lassa as a good brand for racing tyres as well. I can't end my thougts stating that, I wonder how could the season be for Yazici if he could have used 207 S2000 for the whole!..

Jarek Z
8th November 2009, 20:24
Thanks for your impressions. I remeber Yazici very well from his Corolla WRC days. But as far as fantastic adaptation to brand new car is concerned, in my opinion it is something that has to be said about Michal Kosciuszko in his first outing with Skoda Fabia S2000 :)

All right, Michal is more active in Rallying lately, but Yazıcı I meant did not even have a chance to test new car properly. I'm sorry but I'm just not getting it,this is what it says it is , a SHOW...

Yes there are 26 WRC in some great colors, but they are driving between tyres and spectators are on stands.

I was at "local" Italian rally ,Carnia Alpe Ronde and I had a perfect rally. If I have to choose between a local rally with a few WRC and maniacal drivers in small cars , against gentleman drivers (there are exceptions) in WRCs and GTs,I will always choose Carnia Alpe Ronde ;)

I'm sure I would change my mind if I would go to Monza but right now I dont have a huge motivation ;)

By the way, after two stages Monza Rally Show, Rossi leading overall in front of Capello and Re, and Ucci leading in front of Rox and Colombini in the S2000 "cup"

D'Aste in his Lotus GT is ahead the S2000s among the WRCs after leg one :D

With just one long stage to go on the Monza Rally Show, Capello gets 20s advantage over Rossi ;)
"Bosse" Grönholm is just 0.8s late over podium position :p :

In S2000 class 8s between Ucci and Rox :)

Again unforgettable and unrepeatable event in Monza-and the weather was also on our side...From the morning to the late afternoon-all the time the adreanalin at the peak! It is interesting, how the evo9,X&subys gr.N become unspectacular in a few years here in this particular show, Clio's from gr.R3 are much more interesting, louder, the drivers are pushing, crashing into the rear bumpers (a lot of broken plastic is lying).
But the most surprising fact for me was the folowing fact: how easy are the modern WRCs to drive, especialy for the first time. Salucci, Capirossi, Simoncelli and maybe some other guy-they were for the first time in a WRC and they were driving-seeing from the spectator-as fast and spectacular as other drivers in the same machinery...

Kris Meeke once said that modern WRC cars are like playstation - easy to drive for anyone.

]Kris Meeke once said that modern WRC cars are like playstation - easy to drive for anyone.

Hopefully this will change over the next few years. There's a difference between being nice and easy to drive and having the car do all the work for you. Hopefully they can find that balance under new regs. And hopefully bring back a bit of driver skill.
