]Kris Meeke once said that modern WRC cars are like playstation - easy to drive for anyone.
But you have to remember that while the WRC cars have become easier to drive, the speeds have increased. Risto Mannisenmäki was onboard in JML's tests and he described the speeds as "very significantly increased from my active days".
Mikko has said that modern cars are indeed easier to drive, but the increased speed and precision needed brings totally new challenges.
But maybe Meeke could show us how it's done and win WRC next year. Playing Playstation is so easy for everyone. ;)

Of course, on the highest level, it is also about skills of driver. Good drivers from WRC will be (or should be) fast also in S2000. But not lot of "average drivers", who can fight for podium, top 5 or top 8 in WRC...

Great news for all Marco Zannier fans !
Zannier was invited for the traditional Vallelunga Rally School at the end of the year alongside 5 other drivers. This is an invitation by the Italian Federation for the 6 young drivers who showed the most during the year and of course Marco was one of them :)
He is currently finding the budget for an Fiat 500 R3T for next year

The final act of last year all Italian rally championships and cups (CIR, TRA, TRT, Coppa Italia....) was selection of the best rally driver and the greatest young hope (Il Personaggio dell Rally 2009). And the winner is, surprisingly, but no less deserved-Elwis Chentre ! Second is Luca Pedersoli (both-him and Elwis were regular drivers with WRC cars in TRA), this is a good indication that rally fans still love these types of cars most. Only third is Paolo Andreucci as a winner of CIR 2009 (and is definitely a much better driver as Elwis or Luca...).
The biggest hope among young drivers is from San Marino-Alex Raschi.

I agree it's so sad, especially that they have two such great drivers - Basso and Rossetti... On Autoklub.pl thay said it is possible for Basso to do a CIR/ERC programme, but nothing is confirmed. Too bad there's no official FIAT team anymore :(
And as far as Pede is concerned, I met him in 2004 (the 306 Maxi days) and made a great interview. Too bad he ended his professional career... Now he drives just for fun, but still - all the best for him!

Really sad news :(
The car doesn't look extremely damaged. For sure the driver's compartment is untouched. It reminds me a bit a crash of Aghini when his co-driver died few years a go. They say Franco died later in hospital, so it probably wasn't because of broken neck (a question of using HANS), so probably some internal injury, maybe not enough fastened seat belts. For sure strange...

I haven't found anything official about drivers for Ford Italia ! Just speculations for now...About drivers: at the moment are in Italy at least five, six young, very promising drivers without contract-Michelini, Medici, Gamba, Ceccoli, Broccoli, Scandola....and a bit older too(Cantamesa, Bizzari), so antyhing can happen...But Travaglia should deserve a seat in Fiesta S2000, that is 100% correct!

12th February 2010, 18:22
Today Abarth published officialy their drivers for CIR 2010-both Basso and Rossetti will be the strongest duel in this attractive championship. Grande Punto S2000 may not be a good rival against 207&Fabia&Fiesta's in IRC or SWRC, but on their home soil the story is quite opposite. Especialy as their closest rival Andreucci is running with Pirellis and we all know, Pirelli is slower tyre in hot conditions against BFs, so that Punto with two fast drivers will definitely stole points from Paolo Andreucci.
Thank god for gravel races-there is Andreucci the one and the only, without competition.....
However, we should have in consider, that this year Abarth participation is yust a semi-factory project: Trico Motorsport will take care on logistics and service.

True, but you can not compare Trico to Grifone&Procar, as they are a very experienced teams, with a long history, a lot of international wins...I heard for Trico yust in conjunction with Marko Bernardeli and Travaglia drove G.Punto from this team on a few races, but with no bigger success (compared to P207, which he rented later by Friulimotors).

Heh,I dont agree
He had a top car last year and also this year.I am starting to doubt his skills (better to say age) ;)
About Longhi-Skoda Fabia S2000, few facts:
1. Before he made a debute with Fabia, he was sitting at home, doing nothing for more than half year, his competition was all the time behind the whell
2. Fabia was in the early stage of development (better not to think, how much informations got Andreucci from Peugeot Sport)
3. He did not drive a non-turbo car for more than ten years
4. He won his seecond race with Fabia-gravel rally around San Crispino (with some luck, Ucci had troubles, but victory is victory)
So, this is a short interpretation of story Longhi-Fabia. About his years: almost all top Italian drivers are about the same years: Andreucci, Travaglia, Longhi.
A bit younger generation are: Navarra, Cantamessa, Basso, Rossetti, Cavallini...
After those two groups the young guns are behind them, but generaly much to slow against veterans....
Yes, this year we will see the return of one true Italian legend-Franco Cunico-after he won easily last year Italian IRC with Focus WRC07, this year he will compete in CIR with privately enterd Punto S2000 (D'Ambra). And he is 53 years old, so Longhi is almost a young man compare to him...And I bet, Franco will stand on the winning stairs this season for many times. Old guy did not forget how to drive....

As I mentioned few days ago about Andrea Navarra-now it is official. He will drive first Fiesta S2000 in Italy (Ford-Motus Team). The car will come directly from M-Sport. Me as a great fan of Navarra must say, that I'm very happy for him, but still I doubt if he will be a real threat for let say Andreucci, Longhi, Basso, Roxy.....If we look back ten years when Navarra was competing in Italian gravel championship with Impreza WRC, he was unbeatable (multiple champion in this series), his first full season in CIR in 2004 with Aimont-Impreza gr.N was also a big success-he was a champion! Next season with Ralliart Evo 8/9 he was also very good, yust because of technical unreliability he lost the championship crown against Longhi. But then came three years with Abarth G.Punto S2000. First year he was completely lost with the new way of driving, Andreucci was one class faster....In 2007 season in IRC he had yust one win (Safari), other races were average.... Season 2008 again back in CIR, yust one win (Salento) with a help of luck (Rossetti had troubles). Last year back with Subaru Impreza N14-in the middle of the season team decided not to compete anymore in CIR due to lack of competitiveness against S2000 cars....
So, this are the facts about ex-Europe champion, multiple winner of Bettega show....I hope we will find motivation for a new challenge, to shake off the fear on high-speed sections with NA engine and to become a champion !!
Good luck, Andrea !!

First race in a new car and already a victory-Pedersoli suprised me, I must admit. Unexpected defeat for Felice Re, some relief for him is a superb victory of his son Alex Re as he won the R2B class.Cantamessa as expected first in S2000, with a big advantage (do not forget, Cantamessa is still one of the best Italian drivers, he was many times on the podium in CIR).

Great news!
It's very strange he has always so many problems finding a team.
It's common to have pure talented drivers in many championships having problems to find budget for a decent season...
It will be interesting to see how Renato will go on tarmac events with Pirelli tyres.

Volkan Işık made a good start to 30º RALLY CONCA D'ORO, setting the early pace with best time in SS1. He was 5th quickest in SS2 and is 2nd overall, 1.6s behind Arminen.

Arminen good leading after three stages of Conca d'Oro
And what fight for second position between Bruschetta, Dedo, Trentin, Isik, Ceccoli and Dati :D

SS6 Conca d'Oro covered of water(heavy rain)!!!!! Many things happened

Wow, looks agressive! Really nice driving, I was rather suspecting racing style.
94.Targa Florio : deserved victory for a local driver Toto Riolo (Xsara WRC)!!
Fight for a second place between Felice Re and Luca Pedersoli was a real horror: at the end Felice Re was faster by 0,1 second!!!! Good for Felice, I'm very, very happy for him and Mara Bariani!!
Fourth place: Alfonso''Fofo'' di Benedetto, he also took the advantage of local knowledge and was faster than Alesio Pisi (both in P207 S2000).
Son of great Felice Re-Alex Re won again class R2B!! Well done, family Re!!

GrNs especially with Timo Arminen are very serious opponents, strange that Perico or Ceccoli usually driving Mitsus on gravel have chosen S2000s this time
