No mercy this time from Andreucci-after fifth stage almost 50 seconds advantage compare to U.Scandola. Young Albertini more than 1min30sec behind....The old fox is still Nb.1 on gravel in Italy, thanks god.....

Great win for Robert. Fastest eight stages out of ten. Waiting for Rally du Var!

17th November 2012, 12:17
The biggest competition in Rallye du Var is Loix with a whale... A car that's 5 years older than the C4 and wasn't even top back in 2005 (last year as factory-car). If Kubica doesn't win he will have no excuses. ;)

About Rally Como: again great drive from R.Kubica, he is way too fast for Italian gentelman drivers. We all know already before the start who the winner will be.....
Nevertheless, we must congratulate to the new Italian tarmac champion-Felice Re. He definitely deserves this title, he was clearly the fastest and constant. And it is already his third TRA title.
There is no fear that we will not hear more over the future years over Re family-yust look the stage times from the penultimate stage-Val Carvagna (almost 30 km long), Felice's son Alessandro made with DS3 R3T third fastest stage time, merely 10 seconds behind his father.
Well done, Re family.

About the entry list-looks very promising. No doubt-Rossetti is Nb.1 in pure driving skills, but he is driving ''just'' S2000 car, so he can not win the general classification. IMHO Longhi and Felice Re will struggle for an overall victory.

You mean the rally is cancelled and instead of it Rally Italia Sardegna Costa Smeralda is in CIR calendar?
Bartolbia84

Rally San Crispino is skipped for the lack of agreement between the organisers and the city of Gubbio, a town where the race takes place.
In its place is the Costa Smeralda, which joined the calendar 21-22 September (date that will change for sure), and will take place in Olbia.
The Costa Smeralda and the WRC Rally Italy Sardinia are two different races with different promoters.

Some thoughts after the 1st day in Tuscany: Basso in the convincing lead-a bit of surprise, but his opponents showed almost no resistance, that makes his work easier. The biggest disappointment so far Umby Scandola, WTF is happening to him??? Perico average.....About Rossetti-welcome in N4/R4 club!! Crap car, crap stage times.....
So to the 2WD class: pitty for Cempedelli's retirement, new leader is Bosca with Clio R3, but look who behind him?? The old fox Paolo Andreucci with a small P208 R2, very good drive for him. The young guns in the same class or even with stronger machinery (DS3, Clio R3) must be furious. There were strong rumors few last years in CIR that the championship was just a opportunity for old, already established drivers, no young couldn't start a career...and now, as they have an excellent opportunity to beat Andreucci with the same weapon, they fail to do it....And when the old fox will be the first in Italy to drive a R5, we will again hear craying....

Ciocco is finished: congratulations for the opening victory to Basso/Dotta, the Munaretto prepared 207 worked perfectly. I hope he will find extra money for the whole CIR 2013.
Perico can be also satisfied, second place is a solid way to start the season. By contrast, Scandola has to clean up his minds, this event has to be forgotten as soon as possible.
A big smile on the face of Andreucci and a lot of joy for the Racing Lions Team: 208R2 proved to be a winning car in the R2 class. Of course with an appropriate driver, Andreucci showed no mercy against his rivals.
So, roll on to the Mille Miglia.

My sincere congratulations to Alessandro Perico, he finally made it!! His second victory in CIR after 2005 San Remo with Clio S1600. Apparently winning this year CIR title will not be as easy task for Umberto Scandola as it first seemed.
Again incredible times from Paolo Andreucci, sixth place at the end (on the 7th stage he even managed third best time), less than 30 seconds behind much stronger Clio R3 and 1min30sec in front of his first rival with equal car, that is something to admire...
And now to the gravel stages of Rally Adriatico. Looking forward to this event.

I am not sure if all will be for the BRR team, however Raimund Baumschlager is quite involved with the VW team in SA from what i am told, helping to develop our Polo S2000's which are very similar to the skoda.
Henk is quite inexperienced, however his inclusion in the VWSA works team and results thus far have been very good considering. Learning to write his own notes may slow him a bit on this event so will be interesting to see how he performs.

That sounds logical. Baumschlager was involved in Fabia S2000 development since the very beginning, his current chief-engineer Walter Illmer is former car engineer of Jan Kopecký and there are another people connected to Škoda Motorsport in his team, like Josef Lank.

BRR bought all the cars of VW Motorsport.
But i think the car of Lategan Test is another one - ex Mikkelsen IRC Car. But with the VW ones they have six completely white ones, so maybe it is even another one ;-)
Hopefully we will see some of them soon on the stages. In Austria or somewhere else...

Shame for gearbox troubles on Travaglia's evo9, he was in a close fight with Scandola until troubles hit him....but still 4th place is not a bad result. Andreucci, as expected by a margin the fastest in R2 class lost 10th place on the last stage, but even 11th place with a small P208R2 is a great result.

About rallies in SA, why is there no recce ? Are the rally done with unknown stages until the morning of the race ?
Grant_RSA
24th May 2013, 07:21
We have 1 event that is allowed to be recce'd which forms part of the FIA Africa championships, other than that there are various reasons for no recce, but at the end of the day the biggest is most likely financial, time away from work/business etc. I predict a recce will be introduced in the next few years, it is the only way any of our drivers will be able to compete abroad.
Currently we use a system of route notes originally created by Bill Sturrock, the rights were sold in SA to an ex rally driver Leon Botha who has remained active in the sport after retiring. The bound book of notes and a dvd of the stages (driven at a normal decent pace) are supplied a week before the event. In most cases teams will adjust these notes to their liking and in some cases re-write them completely to become pace notes, this can be tricky when not seeing the route "in real life"
This is a massive step forward from the tulips we used to rally on pre 2006
In general the established rallies will use most of the same stages every year, however of late we have had a number of changes to venues/areas where events are held. The classic rallies such as the Sasol and VW Rallies have kept their traditional stages and are fantastic forest stages.
The economy has played its role here as with everywhere else in the world of late, but we still have a field of around 18 S2000's and a healthy number of S1600 (R2) class cars.

He won (very convincingly and to be honest, expected..) the CIR classment, but even more interesting were his times compared to WRC2 (Kubica&Co), he was constantly faster than many WRC runners....The old fox is still very fast. I hope he will retain his speed and motivation for next season-one P208 R5 is reserved for him..
Unfortunately Andreucci will stay in CIR also for 2014, no international program. And that CIR could be an One-Man show. The R5 should be ready for San Remo. I agree that he still is very very fast, but his program depends on what his sponsors (Pirelli, Peugeot) will do.

Exactly! This is true! I made a small comparison between Andreucci, Kubica and Kosciuszko on the same stages. I wasn't surprised that Ucci was faster than Kubica - that was obvious, but that he was faster than Kosciuszko driving Ford Fiesta WRC is quite embarassing for the Polish driver :)
Below you can see my analysis:
"SS No." "SS name" "winner WRC" "Kosciuszko" "Kubica" "Andreucci"
1 MONTE LERNO 19:20.2 20:52.2 21:11.5 19'55.4
2 MONTE OLIA 13:43.0 14:36.0 15:04.0 14'11.3
3 TERRANOVA 10:36.9 11:08.0 11:34.1 10'58.9
4 MONTI DI ALA' 13:38.9 14:37.7 14:57.3 14'18.0
5 COILUNA - LOELLE 13:47.0 14:31.1 14:57.4 14'24.9

Kubica wasn't even close to Andreucci, but he easily won WRC-2 with a big margin. I didn't know that the level of WRC-2 was so low.
This week-end 3rd race valid for Italian I.R.C.-Rally Casentino will take place. Again very promising entry list, this time with no ''big'' names from CIR, but anyway it is going to be a splendid battle between Re and Corrado Fontana, maybe Sossella joins them....It is also worth to mention first Italian appering with DS3WRC, Max Beltrami (the owner of D-Max racing team) will drive as a first Italian driver this beautiful car.

I don't think Pug would be ready for Sanremo. The homologation is scheduled to January if I'm not mistaken.
Yes, you are right, it was my last Info about their plans, so I should ask for an update ... or he do San Remo as Zero Car. Its also Monza Rally Show with R5 on his program.

Rally Casentino was yesterday late in the night finished, new winner in this season-M.Sossella. It is obvious, that he managed to pass the transit to a ''smaller'' WRC car (he admited in his interwiev that P.Andreucci gave him a genereous help with advices for settings on Fiesta WRC). Second place to Corrado Fontana (Focus), third was Cresci (C4) and a bit disapponited fourth Felice Re.
What came a bit of schock to me is a huge gap between first in 2WD class and first with N4 car-Herman Gassner junior. We can not deny that he is one of the top EU rally driver, but to be beaten (and without any technical problem) by so many drivers with Clio's R3&S1600, well, a didn't expect this.....

Rally San Marino is finished; my congrats are for a deserved winner-Umberto Scandola. He successfully defended from Basso's attacks. This is also a clear massage, that Basso is a brilliant driver on tarmac, but on gravel his performance is nothing breathtaking....What I'm want to say that his last year's victory on this rally with more competitive drivers (it was an IRC rallye) was also a result of his RRC Fiesta. Now, seating in N/ car, and with only Umberto as a main rival, he wasn't able to repeat his success.
But the biggest disappointment I see in Alessandro Perico. He has this year great chances to become CIR champion as a private driver after many years, but his performance on gravel are so weak....Just look his gap behind Scandola-more than five minutes....thanks god that the competition is very weak in he scored 5th place at the end, but this is no way for a driver to become a champion....
Who convincingly won the 2WD class ??? Again Paolo Andreucci.....the old fox is not giving it up....

Italy has a new CIR 2013 champion !! My sincere congratulations to Umberto Scandola !! As I already predicted during the winter (when it was official, that Andreucci will be this season ''just'' behind the steering wheel of smal pocket-rocket P208R2), he was the main favourit for this year crown. Thank's to Škoda Italy, of course....
So, 49th edition of rally del Friuli has been finished, a lot of retirements, which shows that this rally is very selective....But there are few drivers, for whom this this is no obstacle, they push like mad....As Tom206WRC mentioned, veteran Paolo Andreucci (where the hell he finds motivation??) lost yesterday more than 1min30sec, but today his performance were simply astonished-his stage times are almost ''science fiction''. He ended rally on 4th place. Without time lose he could be third.....and we are talking over CIR, not some village rally....I know stages of this rally quite well (huge gradients & countless 180 degree bends upwards, from where a small P208R2 hardly accelerate....for example a Clio R3 or DS3R3T must obtain from each such combination app.1 second...) and therefore can not understand, how can be one driver with just 180bh and 2WD so much faster than competition with almost the double power,4WD, bigger tyres&brakes...miracle....Well, the award for such outstanding performance is already ''around the corner''-new P208R5 for CIR 2014 !!
And now to the sadder side of this rally-valid also for Slovenian championship; all I can say that Humar with his Clio R3 and Turk with P208R2 showed some speed (though both were constant ''beaten'' by Andreucci), but unfortunately they retaired...the biggest slovenian embarrassment are N4 drivers, they were all the time even behind Turk, not to mention Humar...at the end two italian crews with R2 cars are 3min in front of ''mighty'' Slovenian evo's9....a rally to forget....but this is sad picture of slovenian rally scene-as slovenian economy falls, so the drivers quality is dropping....hoping for better times...
Enough whining-it is time to celebrate for Scandola !!
