At 25th November, 19 o'clock. Take care about timetable. Everything is upside down this time. Nothing in Strahov area. Event center is Chuchle hypodrom. All stages there (different to last year with access inside the area) and in Karlik (new stage last year).

I think we forgot to mention one bad news. Our reining gr.N champion Václav Arazim stopped competing. He doesn't say his driving is definitely over but in the moment it seems he is out at least for 2012. Main reason is that he lost his main sponsor he had for many many years.

According to Prague organizers Emil will start. Maybe it was misunderstanding because I think Emil is not really good in foreign languages.

DRS will be run as separate field after MMČR and I guess that some Czech drivers will start among DRS crews also (due to cars etc.). Maybe some Czech crews will do complete DRS when two rounds are in CZ plus many are usually invited to Thüringen Rallye.

Hmmm, 6months ago i saw info about Polish Championship in Bohemia, now we have calendar for Polish Championship and i can't see your rally, maybe someone know something about this situation

There was huge fight from side of Czech crews against another round abroad. It looks like they were successful. Polish championship run in CZ was possible only if Czech championship would also be run in Poland which is understandable. In fact only very few people aside Rally Bohemia organization wanted that...

In the end it looks like Pech will use Mini in Jänner. I think that it's probably because Prodrive wants to use him for real test of the car before RMC in similar conditions.

Normally there is much more snow in the Jänner Rallye than in the Monte-Carlo. The Jänner is a rally where tyre choise isn't so important compared to the RMC, while in Monte-Carlo it is in (almost) each edition very important and it decides the rally.

I don't agree ;) Sometimes there is a lot of snow in Jänner but not always. Last year only few stages were on snow, the rest was wet. In 2008 or 2009 (I think) it was completely dry etc. The biggest difference is that in Jänner narrow studded tyres are allowed. Anyway it is closest to RMC from all big events because it is asphalt/snow event. Also the stages are similar to some of those around Valence.

Monte-Carlo was completely dry, with only some ice parts in the high regions of the rally, in the most recent years that it was part of the WRC. ;)

I was in RMC in last three years and always it was a mix of everything. In 2009 I saw 5 passes on snow, 1 on wet. In 2010 I saw 6 passes on snow, 2 on wet and this year 7 on dry and 1 stage on snow.

Jänner was almost completely dry in 2007, all snow in 2008, mostly dry with some snow in 2009, not run in 2010 and a mix of snow and wet asphalt in 2011. Together with very similar nature of stages to those like St.Bonnet or Labatie d'Andaure Jänner really is the best rally to prepare for RMC.

That is quite irrelevant for weather in 2012. Weather doesn't depend on championship RMC is currently in.

Returned from SS Karlík, the only normal stage. Accidents of Šlehofer, Votava and a zero car in second run happened in same corner. It was very long right one which tightened. The surface was extra slippery there (wet with temperature close to zero). There was almost no damage to the cars but they were dug deep in the mud and a truck had to pull them out.

Anyway nothing really interesting. Very few cars and most of them very cautious. PG and Martin Semerad looked fastest.

I live in Prague, so I always go to at least on some stages but frankly if I would have to travel even let's say hundred kilometers I would not go.

Now let's wait for entry list of Slušovice and than for next years. After events like Slušovice or Uherský Brod appeared the number of crews willing to go to Prague is falling but that's just up to arrogant organization, nothing else because for sure driving in Prague is itself more interesting for everyone than somewhere in the eastern village...

Mirek, Prague is always worth a trip for us. We again came over with the girls, they went shopping, we took a Taxi to Velka Chuchle. Just for 2 hours, meeting people, smelling gas, viewing action. And got afterwards a wonderfull afternoon & night @the city! Sunday was for sightseeing. Will come again, if stadium or not.

Some use it always, some don't when it's not needed like here in Belgium Lietaer won't drive with it if he doesn't need to his a old school driver who drove already in the times when there weren't so much regulations :D . Surprises me that a professional pilot like PG doesn't wear it..

It was really spectacular show even despite a bit worse entry list it. Tlusťák, both Béreš father and son or Bujáček were making the show. Kostka was extremely effective but at the last non-competitive stage he showed he can be very spectacular as well. Also very nice driving by Elwis Chentre who was at league of his own. The only possible opponent Minařík had moreover a puncture...

Citroën originally presented an international DS3 cup for IRC events, than (after the calendar was shown) they changed it to WRC events and it seems they canceled it at all.

Jaromír Tomaštík bought Impreza WRC S12 from Erik Wevers, car No.3 ex-Huzink. He will use it in our rallysprint championship. More good news to come when it's possible to reveal them :)

I think that the biggest surprise is not possible to make so early. Probably in Šumava. But for sure it will be known by the time of Valašská rally ;)

For Valašská rally there are some changes in stages which I don't like. I heard the long stage around Bystřička is cut into two with one as a half circuit around the lake. One normal stage (last year under name Straník I think) is than substituted by some new city stage in Valašské Meziříčí. I heard it will be held in former military blocks.

Just out of curiosity... today there was an ice-hockey match in Zlín between two teams of people involved in rallying.

One team with coach Miloslav Regner (director of Barum rally) and captain Roman Kresta. The other with coach Jan Regner (son of Miloslav, FIA safety delegate), captain Tomáš Kostka. Team Kresta won 8:3. Among other players there were Jelínek, Barvík, Brynda brothers, Peták, Kneifel, Svačina, Dunovský, Gavlák, Kouřil, Norek, Tureček, Firla, Navrátil or John_V from autosport.cz You may know from this forum :)

Some news about Valasska Rally, for those who would like to come :
Shakedown will be the same as last year (imo realy great stage)
On friday afternoon, there will be Špičky and Helfštýn stage (those were run on saturday morning last year) , but in opposite direction.
On saturday morning, there will be another stage from last year, Puntík, (SS1/SS3 last year) also reversed, plus stage Odry ( it was run 2010 for the last time).
On saturday afternoon there will be half circuit stage Juřinka ( 2009 for the last time) and different version of Bystřička stage. It looks like it will be also half circuit stage, as Mirek said.

It looks like Jan Šlehofer is replaced with Václav Kopáček in Roto Impreza. We'll see what happens with Šlehofer but I fear he won't drive this season. Anyway for Kopáček it's a nice chance to show something in a big car. He is definitely crazy enough.

Next week an official pre-season shakedown in Žiželice (at the motorway D11 Prague - Hradec králové, exit Chlumec nad Cidlinou). It's something like a all day testing over one stage run in both directions. Some 25 cars are expected. Nothing really extra is known so far. Václav Dunovský and Jiří Navrátil will be there with their new S2000 cars. Václav Kopáček first time with Impreza. Otherwise mostly small cars. I will be there because my sister lives just two kilometers away from there.

How big is hockey in CZ compared to rally? What is sport number 1, that most people watch on tv, and do in real life.

I think that the most common sport is football but the biggest in terms of fans is ice hockey. Our football league and national team doesn't wort following compared to the level of ice hockey teams...

Returned from Žiželice official pre-season testing. Rather boring stage (but very safe for drivers) with extreme spectator safety. Not much to say about, few offs, some nice driving. I heard Dunovský with Fabia S2000 was fastest but there was not much competition (Navrátil - Fiesta S2000, Kopáček - Impreza STI or Kalista - Evo V gr.A). Kopáček with Impreza looked fast and spectacular but I had a feeling that the car wasn't in best condition (meaning engine power). Grafek showed he can drive S1600 (Ignis ex-Dunovský) maybe he was just too aggressive.

I don't know. I heard something about 230 Hp and 470 Nm for similar engine in Fabia RS of another team but I have absolutely no clue if that can be true. The problem of these cars is that they are incredibly heavy. The Fabia is around 1400 kg. Octavia must be much more. Most of the weight is on front axle and therefore there is also a significant understeering.

Now it's already out so let's put it here. Martin Semerád will drive Lotus R-GT in Czech championship once the car is ready. There will be a second car for another driver but since his name didn't leak I don't want to be the first.

By the way Martin Semerád confirmed with Lotus officially. The bad thing is that it's all postponed to June. He will use it in sprints this year. It was also revealed officially that driver of the second car is Slovak gentleman Igor Drotár.

It is forbidden to test on stages of a particular rally only after the supplementary regulations are released. It's still half a year to Barum. It's common to use stages for testing because it is usually easier to get permission there and also because it's better for comparison with previous experiences.

This rally is one big chaos. The organizer expected about 50 crews, but here is about 100 crews! IMO this is the main problem. Time schedule was created for lower amount of cars. In the start time of SS3, there was almost any pause between last cars starting to SS1 and first cars starting to SS3. And moreover, one of the very last cars crashed and noone have known if it is stucked over the road or not. Then there had to be some break, because some bus link was crossing the stage (last years there was no problem with that, because there was enough time between first and second loop).In this moment there was delay about 20-30 minutes and there was only time for two zero cars before the Vaclav Pech´s start. Following situation is very strange to me. I understand that Pech (nbr 1) refused to start because of cool tires & car. I think it would be also very dangerous, because specators were almost everywhere, in dangerous places etc. I also heard from some guys in service park that there was some civil car on the stage... so, finally the stage was cancelled and the drivers just went through to next stage ( and this was delayed by 54 minutes...)
Then there was a huge mess in service park in the night. Lot of spectators cars on both sides of narrow driveway - in few minutes it was impossible to move in car even for few meters. I´ve never seen mess like this. Service park is divided to two parts. In first, there had to be service park, in second parc fermé, time controll and refuelling zone. Because of many cars, there are service places in both parts of service. Time controll is on that narrow driveway, refuelling zone is somewhere next to time controll...amazing. Drivers were more than hour and half late in service. They were really tired, hungry and most of all angry.


What happened to Kristiansen in the Fabia R2 on ss2?
He had his moment on second stage. He has overheated brakes, so he had to use handbrake in some difficult corner. He went off to some waterlogged field and couldn´t get back for a few minutes. Anyway, he is great guy! I´ve helped him with few thnigs before the start and through the rally and I am happy to see him on my home event (even it´s the worst rally I´ve ever seen, in case of organisation.

Now I am about to leave to the stages. Hope there will be any problems like yesterday...

I'm back from stages. What to say...

From organization it was one huge chaos. From spectator point of view it was one of the best events I have ever seen. I saw much better action than in Monte Carlo this year, really. One of the reason was for sure perfect choice of places. I don't know why but I have every year the best feeling from my choice in this event. Maybe it's because of those superfast stages (see average speed, especially first day).

The results were quite as expected. Kopecký decided to make big attack already from start line. Kresta tried to keep with him but after SS2 he saw it won't be possible so he decided to keep Pech behind and let Kopecký be. One interesting factor for these crazy fast Friday stages was that Kopecký had extremely long gearbox for S2000. Where all others were in rpm limiter he was still accelerating. I guess he could have had top speed around 185-190 km/h. Pech's Mini has awesome suspension but it lacks too much power. Tarabus was nice surprise, Valoušek not. He didn't look slow at all. I think it had to be a lot in the car. It was not full Evo 12 as I heard. Maybe also a lack of confidence with new co-driver.

There was a big battle of gr.N drivers finaly won by Orsák. I'm afraid Kopáček is too crazy. He seems not to learn from his mistakes. It was his first start with Impreza on a real rally. He pushed like hell and crashed soon. Don't think it's the best way to start with completely new car.

2WD were pretty much one man show. Černý was by far the fastest despite problem with broken damper on SS4. All Citroën trophy cars are on Pirelli so he could have been even faster. By eye Elwis Chentre was also crazy fast but the times were not there...

The bad thing of the rally besides the organization chaos were three really big crashes. You already saw the one of Odložilík but there were another two. One of Baller (Civic VTi) and one of Kačírek (Impreza STI). The worst was the last one. Michal Ernst, co-driver of Kačírek (former co-driver of Semerád in PWRC for example) was badly injured. He had to be cut out of the car after it hit a concrete telegraph pole by side and roof. According to unofficial news his life is not in danger but he suffered several injuries from which the worst is multiple opened fracture of his right hand. For some reason this guy is like a magnet for big crashes which he experienced many times (last time big roll with Loprais in Dakar).

Nice list! I see some TDI's on the list, is it some trophy like there was some Diesel Trophy in Germany? Dangerous cars for spectators on the stages, you don't hear them coming...

They have special class but no special cup I think. There have been some diesels in our events for years ;)

It's over now. Tomáš Kostka (C4 WRC) despite some mistakes easily won Rally Vrchovina. Behind him there was big battle. Miroslav Jakeš (Evo IX N4) unfortunately rolled in last stage and Roman Odložilík (Xsara WRC) made a spin in penultimate one so Jan Sýkora (Evo IX R4) was the most successful of the rest and finished second. Third is Odložilík. Than Martin Semerád (Evo IX gr.N), Antonín Tlusťák (Lancer WRC) who made many mistakes stalled engine, penalty for chicane and false start. Sixth was Martin Bujáček (Evo IX N4).

Historic championship is run under FIA rules and cars must have Historic Technical Passport (that's one of the reasons there is so few cars).

Not much of interesting fight on top. Kopecký won all stages except one. Kresta secure second, Pech third, Tarabus fourth. There was good fight of Orsák and Semerád for fifth but Orsák retired with overheating. Běhálek broke wheel. Bujáček didn't start to second leg. Kopáček in a second car of Běhálek is doing very well close behind Semerád. In one stage he was third overall infront of Pech! Emil Triner also retired (engine). With the absence of Černý the fight of 2WD is between Brynda and Peták. Brynda getting away slowly. Third is Vrkoslav in his econd start with Fabia R2.

Stages of today are more difficult ones in Vimperk area. Four stages to go.

Another comfortable win by Kopecky. I can understand why Skoda Motorsport want to win their home championship but on the other hand I would prefer it if they supported some younger driver or stayed out altogether. It is too easy for Kopecky.

Here very nice stage guide (dozens of photos from each stage) for Rally Lužické Hory, held next weekend. Second round of Sprint championship, first round of Deutsche Rallye Serien and first round of Lausitz Cup. Like always very difficult sometimes crazy stages. Large part of the route is completely new. This is one of my favorite events fully recommended to visit :)

Impressive Kopecek. I didn't know him and I saw that's it's his first season with a N4 car. Maybe a future great czech driver ?

Yes, you are right, he is very impressive. Kopáček is now 27 years old. Not so young anymore. He did some amateur events, mostly with ancient 2-stroke Wartburg 353. In last two years he drove 1400 ccm Fabia gr.A, made some very impressive times but also a lot of crashes. Now with gr.N cars he proves he is very fast but he is sometimes like an unguided rocket :)

After the crash on Valašská rally the team decided to change his co-driver. I don't know if a female can keep him on the road. Let's see in next events if there are money to do them. That's also interesting because after his accident in Valašská rally many fans made an initiative to send him money to pay the crash (the car was not insured).

Kopacek is spectacular driver. i really like his style but it clearly takes him into troubles. And about the codriver issue. I´m pretty sure that there can be whom ever in his 2nd seat and still something happens.. Still I hope that he can have more chances to show what he can do with N4/R4 car..

Actualy he is 24 years old, but I totaly agree with Mirek, he is impresive, but like a unguided rocket :)

I actually like the windscreen camera also... IMO it gives the best impression of the road characteristics and speed. But then again you can't see steering wheel inputs, which is a good feature in the camera between the seats. I can't decide. :)
