People who were there say that this small off was caused by already loose rear wheel from a jump which is close before. It was RR wheel and this off was on left side.

Looks very good, can' wait to see Dobberkau in 997 and Kostka in C4. Last year it was one of the best rally where i was, great stages and good atmosphere

Bartek, David Tomek is using this Clio R3 for few years. But he is doing only small number of events. Usually 2-3 in Czech + something in Mitropa per year. He was not bad driver, but with this small number of starts he is almost out of chance...

It was nice event for me. I saw only SS2 and 6 and than had to hurry back to Prague. Saw some really nice action and many offs and spins on gravel part. Kostka shown again that he has no opponents among sprint championship WRC drivers. For him all events except Kopná are completely new but still it doesn't help others to keep with him. And it's not because he has the best car. Stage one which he won by 17 seconds already in first pass is extremely difficult one where skills and pacenotes are much more than car performance...

Anyway it was an epic family battle! (Kostkas wife is sister of Kresta) I was on some very fast places and these two were driving like mad completely different level to others. Weather was changing and it was a tyre gamble. For example in second section Kresta used cut slicks (4 less and 2 more) and Kostka wet tyres. Really very very spectacular event for me :)

On the left side there are in gray color some spectator places with GPS, photos and videos: Rallye esk Krumlov - Divci - Divck msta (http://www.rallyekrumlov.cz/cz/divaci/divacka-mista-2012)

These are places where You can easily get. Of course there are other nice places on stages where You need to walk through stages. Generally I think that stages of Český Krumlov are very nice and You can find quite a lot of nice places. But I must admit that I somehow almost never manage to get there in its date. Last time I was there is 2008 so I'm no expert for local stages.

PS Be prepared for some rain. Český Krumlov is famous for rain on Friday and sun on Saturday. It's almost always like that so we'll see this year...

Tom, Roman Kresta is without any doubts faster driver than Pavel Valoušek. In my opinion on Czech stages Václav Pech is faster too (speaking about driving skills) but that would be most likely different on foreign stages though.

This event is in fact probably the only chance for Kresta to defeat Kopecký. But sure Roman prays for rain. This event has been his domain in last years when he out of 8 starts in top class won 7x while once he had to retire for technical problem when leading...

Valkoušek already broke a wheel in SS2 and retired. So did Kopáček in SS3. BUT watch times of Emil Triner in his small Fabia A5 fighting for second 2WD place with Peták in Clio R3. Emil is faster than Elwis Chentre in Fabia R2 for example!

Anyway the hardest stages will come tomorrow...

Well, as I respect your opinion I must say that I can not totally agree with you on comparing Kopecky and Kresta. I do not belive in any differences in both their cars (maybe tyres, what informations have you on this topic??) and also about testing: Kresta is one of the most experienced European drivers and he is extremely familiar with Czech stages and so he does not need so much testing as one unexperienced driver. Let's be honest: he is a profesional driver. 99% worldwide drivers can yust dream to have such conditions as he has. Kopecky is simply faster. I do not belive in fairytale stories that Kresta sometimes lifts his right food yust to avoid possible go-off....he pushes as much as he can.
On the other hand-one is always slower...in this case is Kresta.
Speaking of disappointment: what is your opinion over Pech? When he was in an un-competetive evo9, he was also behind first two-three S2000. Now is the same story....Do you have any informations comparing his previous stage times with this season times in Mini?? Is he any faster at all with this ugly car??

Well, it's not like You think. Roman Kresta isn't professional driver but professional team boss and that is a difference. His main job is to run cars for others like Tarabus, Trnovec, Adolf etc., to help them with setups, testing. Of course he has good conditions for a privateer but still for example he has less budget for this season than he had last last year without Kopecký in the championship and with more events (that's why he skipped Jänner). If You think that some thousands of testing kilometers which Kopecký has per year is for nothing, You are very naive. And yes, he drives more careful because he doesn't have two three spare cars to continue season with. It's maybe his last season this year and he's no more the crazy guy he used to be. His last crash happened two years a go. That's just impossible if You drive flat out all the time...

Times from Krumlov can't be compared with last year. Completely different weather, also most of the stages is at least a bit different.

All the reasons Mirek states about Kresta are of course valid but IMHO Kopecky is the better driver, even though I like Kresta - sorry to hear he might retire from competition soon.

I too would have expected more from Pech in the Mini.

Now sure Kopecký is faster than Kresta. But as I said it's a complex thing, not only talent what matters.

I still like Kresta more because he came from nothing, from family with no rally/racing background, from a mechanic job, through a car for few Euro to a works team. Everything he knows about setups, dampers, springs, tyres and why he is respected test driver, he learned himself, he doesn't have university education. Kopecký with all respect for him is a "golden child" whose father made him a racing driver. Everything was easier for him and that's why I may be a bit annoying with my personal views ;)

Anyway now I think we will see Kopecký in Ypres and that's sure good news for the IRC :)

Unfortunately it's true. Aleš Zimolka died in the evening in the hospital from internal injuries. Malonty once again took its toll :(

I didn´t regret the 3,5 hours travel to the krumlov stages, level in czech repuplic is very high, almost all cars were nice to watch, some historics and legends made a nice show at some places, sad to hear from the tragic accident....my condolences to Ales Zimolkas family and friends!

Unbelieveable performance of Emil Triner! Flat out everywhere, same of course for top3+Orsak, Cerny and Semerad, extra flat out was Kopacek, unfortunately just saw him on stage 9, don´t know what happened to him?!

I think it is everything. Switch to Peugeot, not enough test kms and race kms, accident in Barum....

This is good question, Bartek.
With Skoda, he was almost works driver surrounded by a lot of people who made him selfconfindent etc. Great improvement in that year.
Now with Peugeot, his " management" consist mainly of his father and some very rich guy who thinks he knows everything best only because he pays the whole thing.
And the result? You can see it yourself. All the great work from Škoda Motorsport is gone...and of course, only occassionaly racing doesn´t make it better, too.

For me mediasport should be banned, when i'm going to university i'm not learning but watching onboards :)

Many downhill sections, tight, without place to make mistake, i have big respect to last part of Pindula stage with flatout section to the finish line, i will never forget this part from IRC :)

Once again, excellent stuff. Really beautiful stages with some very fast narrow parts and some technical bits as well. For me, I never forget few (?) years ago the wet onboard with Kresta on Malonty, it was such incredible onboard that gave me goosebumps. And same stage dry and with Valda with Fabia, Hruza firing out pacenotes every second and totally on the limit, the final corners on the field with birch trees was phenominal, "Ty kravo!" and laughing in the finish... Also some Santov and Pindula onboards, unforgettable. :)

Wow, Sykora !!!! That was definitely a hell of a drive with a lot of risk(s)....to beat Valoušek in far more competitive car is astonishing performance.

Beside Sykora´s performance I´m also very surprised of Navratil´s result. He was very close to Valousek and Odlozilik. He is really improving from rally to rally.

Navrátil is very good driver. The "problem" is that he is doing rally as a hobby so he is taking it really careful. He knows he has limited experience and virtually not much to achieve in his age (he used to be successful karting driver). He doesn't want to make some stupid crash or something so he's improving rather slowly but in some places You can see that he can drive and his problem is not in his hands. Like when I was in Lužické Hory this year. There was a very fast opened section with a tight left corner after a fast approach over a crest and fast very short right corner before. Navrátil was the only one of all to brake even after the right one. Last year in Sosnová show which is rather safe track easy to remember he was by far fastest non WRC driver close behind Prokop and two years back he was 9th overall in Rally Legend San Marino driving Sierra Cosworth.

There was a meeting of our ASN today regarding the unacceptable situation with three consecutive fatal crashes in our top championship. Of course there is a need to quickly feed the media by "we do everything we can" stuff. I was afraid of some populist actions but sure something must be done.

What was today presented:

All remaining events in this season will get more chicanes into the superfast sections.
There will be more restricted areas.
Some already agreed stages of upcoming events will be refused.
Some more complicated system to get an international driving license will be introduced before 2013 season. Now the only condition is to finish 5 events of rallysprint championship in a small car.

Already at the start of this season in a "Test rally Žiželice" they made a stage with no spectator entrance out of the official places. I hope they will not try to use such system everywhere.

I can agree with chicanes but i think that Czech rally have bad luck in this year, i know that this sounds ridiculous but last year i remember last section in Pindula SS, it was super fast section with fans and nothing happened. I think people need to keep more sense, here we know what can happen with rally car but many people don't know that they are standing in wrong places and they we have tragedy.

Zakázaný prostor (means forbidden area - for non-Czech speaking people) everywhere. All tapes several meters farther from the road than last year. Some friends were not allowed to walk in stage one hour before start. You can see the Forbidden area signs on onboards covering all stages (white sheets on trees). Same like it was done in Rally Bohemia this year.

I understand that now they must act somehow and I don't want to make problems to anyone. So if this style doesn't change I will simply stop going on our rallies personally. I don't enjoy the event if I can't find my own place.

But I completely agree with you Mirek. Rallying is about adventure - both for competitors and spectators. I would stop going to rallies if I wouldn't have free will to choose my (safe) spectating place. Unfortunately this adventure lures many people who do not understand the risks of it. Rally organizers don't have the power nor capacity to fractionate the "professional" people and the laymen. Someone are there to practice a lifelong passion - and someone are just having fun with friends, maybe with few beers, like in a circus.

If you think about the etymology of the word "rally", it's about people gathering together. Too strict rules break the meaning. Coin has two sides - position yourself into the place of federation people - what can they do to preserve the sport they all love as they are operating in a pressurized state? It's difficult.

Thats a quite good idea, because I am sure if a popular driver like Kopecky speak with fans in forbidden area, they have more respect, then to an unknown person in Safety Car. But in my opinion they should start later, ofcourse with the risk if they have to stop many times, for stage delay. But better delayed stage as a bad accident.

Yes, really strange rally in terms of retirements of top crews. Pech - rear diff, Valoušek - accident, Kresta - propshaft.

In the end Tarabus won the rally after a big fight with local Jan Dohnal who did probably best drive of his life. Third Orsák who was ill all the time. Despite having also a puncture he managed to stay in front of young Slovak Koči (who has car prepared by Orsák team). Fifth another local Jan Černý clearly fastest 2WD. Than Hudec, Peták (another local and co-organizer), Adolf and Emil Triner back in the little 1400 ccm Fabia (also local).

One era ends. Roman Kresta did his last full season. He will continue to manage his team and take new role in our national rally committee. Most likely he will start few events next year but no full program.

By the way one curiosity. Third year in a row the rally was decided on the last stage when second driver made 17 seconds on first one and took the lead. I don't know how it's possible :D

For me the biggest favourite is Tlustak, especially with that car. Tomaštík can be also very fast here, this is home event for him. Sýkora will fight with Odložilík for second place in championship. But of course I would cheer the most for Jakeš :)
But again, I noticed lot of restricted areas, very difficult for spectators to find some great spot for watching :(
I expect nice weather, sky seems to be clear right now. My guess is sunny, warm day like it was today.

Back to Příbram for a while. Have You guys watched some onboards of Valoušek? Pity it ended by another crash but it was first time after his last years heavy Barum crash he was really on it. Together with beautiful camera angle it made his onboards awesome!

Results of Rally Vsetín with some interesting premieres but without big surprises. The weather was too nice to allow guys with weaker car defeat WRC. From all the premieres Jakeš as expected showed most promising drive despite making some minor mistakes. Group N was won by young Slovak Martin Koči who is showing rapid development. Egon Smékal won 2WD. The two most important retirements were accidents of Pešl and 2WD runner-up Zimmermann. Rather big crash of Pešl happened just a corner from place where Jeppe was with me in Valašská rally 2011 (in the last stage - now it was only reversed).

So the official season - beside the show events - in the Czech Republic is over. Are there already some news out about the next season? Which rally will replace Valasska (Jeseniky maybe?)?

I heard Valašská rally may finally stay as there is little interest from sprint organizers to go into MMČR. Rally Vysočina was the only one which wanted to step up as I heard.

News... Kresta will do only handful of events (three I heard), about Kopecký and Škoda I don't know. Pech will probably continue with Mini although this season was quite a disaster for him. Valoušek stays with Peugeot trying to get the R5 as soon as possible. Jelínek replaces Dunovský in Sparrow Fabia (Dunovský may do sprints). Jakeš probably Subaru. Sýkora I heard wants to step higher possibly with S2000 or R5 when it's available and hopefully for MMČR. Tarabus stays with Kresta Racing and he will do also Jänner where he didn't start for quite many years. Černý wants to step higher as well. I don't know which car for him. I saw an Impreza in his garage in a TV shot but maybe it was not for him. Semerád will return to rally car in Sosnová and Prague. Whether he will continue driving next season is a question. Time will tell. Tlusťák sure stays with Škoda and I think he will do again ERC...
