I know a lot of the chatter the last hour was due to Paddons crash (still hoping for the best), but it's encouraging to see a bit more enthusism for rallying again this year here and on the other lesser forums, I was really keyed up today which is the first time in quite a while.
Let's hope the news is better than feared and we can enjoy a cracking season for a change. Is certainly looking worth watching so far - I even downloaded the RedBullTV app !

I think you're getting ahead of yourselves. This is Monte-Carlo. You can have the right tyres and get a killer time, or the conditions can be a big leveler where horsepower means less.
With Lefebvre out on a mechanical who's to say Breen wouldn't have had the same problem if they'd stuck him in the new car?

According to the split times page, Paddon is going to be on the stage starting 19th. Can it be true?
I can understand it. Under normal conditions the car would be put on the wheels again and he would have lost maximum a minute. Because of the incident with the spectator he stayed at the spot.
So it is up to the stewards to give him a fair time.

No doubt the forum will debate the rights and wrongs of night rallying / ACM safety etc. But if you don't put yourself in harm's way you don't get harmed - sad fact! Every forum member when out spectating should a) never compromise their own safety and b) always take a personal interest in telling those who have got it wrong to adopt the right approach. Let's get some perspective, a single tragedy has happened in the course of a hobby / pastime we love. How much worse is it if you are into skiing? I also will spare many thoughts for the ski hotel avalanche victims in Italy. However, I don't expect to hear any calls to ban skiing or not build hotels near slopes. Let's hope some better manners are now the standard for all rally spectators, especially the ground level gopro fanatics.

Yep, although it can sometimes be awkward telling other spectators that they're in a stupid spot. On the Wyedean we saw a guy talk to some people that were stood straight on from a 90 right. They seemed to get the idea and moved from what was a very stupid spot.

Sad way to start the season, but SS2 already gave some nice indications: Ogier domination days could be over; new cars seem to be matched, including the ugly duckling Yaris; WRC2 has also a fantastic car and driver line up.
Let’s hope for a trouble free rest of the rally, in proper MC conditions, with some fine rally action till the end.

No - those who develop a habit of f**ing up do not deserve special treatment. I refer you to the respective records of those concerned in 2016. Pressure comes in many forms, some show they can't handle it. Anyway stop being Devil's advocate!
