Congrats to Nantet, he deserved it. But if I remeber corectly, he drives Porsche 911 GT3??? The car which is far from beeing ideal car for rally won the championship ?? Shame for others!! Good for Porsche!! After Vallejo, who won Spanish cahampionship in 2009 (with Cup car)we have a new 911 champion. And this with old 996 GT3. Hero for me!!

I must say that I dont like so much this "super cars". I was in the corner, where cars were starting almost from zero on damp surface and on the slicks. Both Porsches were absolutely the fastest, better than all WRCs, without slipping. This monsters with lot of HP and electronics were killing rallysport in Spain...

Indeed Pluto, they have strong engines, brutal acceleration...but still you have to drive also through corners, with dirty surface, gravel...and you have in critical situations all the weight behind rear axle. Belive me, I had opportunity many times to drive 911's, and the rear driven models do not relive any kind of driver errors. You need to have big balls to drive GT3 on the limit. And do not compare Fuster's 911 GT3 against old Nantet's 996 model. The Franchman drives more than ten years old car and on the top of nearly serial one....

Αlso we have to mention that 911 gt3s run on wide 305 slick tyres while all the others are maximum 235 rally tyres(wrc-s2000-grN)
Except that,they have from 50-160 bhp more than wrc/s2000/grN cars.A normal 997 gt3 is from factory @415 bhp.Ecu reprogramming,exhausts,racing fuels etc are easily to 430-440 bhp.
Also a much more wide powerband from 3000 rpm - 8500rpm due to 3,8liters atmo with no restrictors.
Even all these advantages ,they are loosing against a s2000 car with 280bhp and 235 tyres.

Mirek thats right,but the difference between slick tyre and rally tyre is huge.I am talking about much more than 1sec/km.There is no comparison in braking,lateral cornering etc.
if tyres dimensions were free, be sure that everybody would choose the wide slick ones,even if they had the puncture disavantage.

In slippery conditions (damp, wet, gravel) wide tyres are disadvantage. Only on dry asphalt they have advantage.

Her program in 2011 was the full Belgian championship and she did only 6 of the 8 rounds... I don't believe she will do all what you are saying.

Driver André Francisci died from heart-attack after having crashed his Ford Fiesta R2 on SS1 of Rallye de Balagne, his codriver Laurent Abat was seriously injured and carried to hospital... ;(

Rally was then cancelled

AN AWFULL MESS is the Ouest Provence Rally, first event of the french gravel championship today :s
Total destroyed roads by the recent weather(lots of stones, tree roots, etc in the middle), many drivers retired before start, judging dangerous the stages...looks like it could be cancelled now :eek:

Two drivers were battling ahead on the first two stages: Germain Bonnefis and Noël Tron... ;)

Amazing performance of Freddy! Again he showed how motivated he is and how fast he can drive with a S2000! And people already think that Ypres will be boring with Mikkelsen well I'm sure Freddy the Emperor of Ypres will be hard to beat again! Quentin Gilbert retired at last SS?? He rolled :-/ seems he got the speed like Neuville has but sometimes crashes, both will learn how to finish fast :D

Princen had also a fast 2nd day and indeed he won almost FWD :o . Sucks that Princen is loyal to Renault really wanted to see him battle in the CRT with a DS3!

Bonnefis who was leading after SS2 stopped on SS3 to check a (false)puncture and lost 50" now he's 4th overall...
Tron was leading GrN but hit a tree with rear of his Mitsu in SS3(5th overall now)...

Great surprises are also Stéphane Consani(7th overall)and Stéphane Lefèbvre(10th overall) !!! :eek:
Both with limited experience on gravel, Consani is therefore leading the 2WDs ahead of Amourette(both in DS3 R3)and Lefèbvre is leading Millet and Ancian in Volant 207(after his victory in Touquet) :D
KF Beck is only 12th of the Volant 207...really difficult to come back in competition so long after having stopped :mark:

The Twingo R2 France Trophy will be held for the third time this season. This single-make series will help launch the Twingo Renaultsport R2 Evo, with six events on the French Rally Championship calendar. The total purse for the season is €150,000, with the winner of each rally collecting €2,500 in cash, €2,500 in vouchers and eight tyres, and the remaining drivers in the top eight also picking up prizes. Very sad news :( It has been on the news here in Spain, and I was having to tell people here about rallying and WHY it is a sport I love so much when it is so dangerous. On the BBC News page, I hope they have answers to the person saying that rallying is too dangerous - but I don`t think there are any answers really.... if I read it right, they were standing straight on which is not good - however, I don´t know about the organisation but if an average member of the public arrives and sees that that is an allowed place to stand with a good view, why were they there?? :( :(

I was thinking that , but just wanted to confirm . What kind of gravel rally is this like to watch ? was thinking of coming from Ireland . Is it ran around farmers lanes and tracks through Vineyards or is it like pure gravel rally like say Rally Sardinia ?

I don't know, it's the first edition !
If you want to see other gravel rallye, there is the rallye terre des Cardabelle (13th - 14th October) and the rallye terre du Vaucluse (10th - 11th november), they are older and you can see videos on youtube...
