Really hope we get to see a healthy selection of 2016 cars next year. Even against the 2017 crop they will still look spectacular in the right hands.

Looks like he's using the press conference to put a bit of pressure onto VW to cut him loose. I also don't think any other driver but Ogier is able to demand tests in multiple cars like this.
Will the two teams allow him to test their cars before signing? what about confidentiality? knowledge transfer? Remember Hyundai for example. they did not let Neuville try the 2017 model before signing.

There's no way it was a done deal to M-Sport... Ogier is far too smart to jump in with the first team to offer him a drive.

I would love it if he did go to them, but my head still says Citroen are the more likely.

To be honest, it might be even more exciting, if he'd opt for N.O.T's favourite flop team in Finland.
Never stop dreaming because one day it might happen.

In most cases teams probably wouldn't allow it, but this is Ogier. He has all the power being a four time world champion who's available

There's a saying in the UK "speculate to accumulate". Meaning you have to take a bit of a risk to potentially make a big gain.

Malcolm has put his cards on the table that's he's prepared to do that. It's a calculated risk. Depends how badly Citroen want Ogier I guess.

Citroen must surely want Ogier pretty badly... it would be as good as guaranteeing them the Title.

If they dont let Ogier test the C3 before he signs, then its a big mistake if he then goes to M-Sport who will let him test...

i can understand Msport's urge to draft Ogier and by extension thier desire to allow him to test the car before hand. However, i'm not sure if Citroen would then allow him to test the C3 without signing a contract first after testing the Ford 2017. In WRC it seem Ogier has two real choices -- Citroen or Msport (less obvious choice is Toyota), so these two teams do have some bargaining power and do not necessarily need to let Ogier hold all the cards. Granted he's WRC champion, but not every team may bend the rules the same way to get him. If Citroen believe they have the best car out here, then the meeke/breen/lefebvre combination may be able to do a competitive job against Ogier/tanak/camilli combination in ford.

it will be a new year with new cars, nothing is guaranteed as yet. We will have to wait and see if any of the new cars are built like a 2016 VW wrc tank to start with, as that was part of VW's advantage over the last few seasons
