Yes, the 2004 Impreza was incredibly fast - clearly the fastest car/driver combo that year. Without the watersplash problems Petter might have won the championship also in 2004.

well he is a full works driver...he did plenty of testing and needs to deliver on every surface....the 5 min penalty could also be used to test his limits on a surface he doesn't know well.

Yeap I agree! He is a full works driver, not a third driver not a specialist for specific rally. The situation is ideal to test his limits and have good testing for this kind of surface.

I think that the S2000 must not be the easiest car to drive in snow conditions! The N4 cars should be easier to drive because of their torque as well and ofcourse their transmission systems.

i doubt he's ever walked on snow before, much less driven on it, much less rallied on it. cut him some slack.

Al Qassimi's role isn't to set the world on fire.

the big picture with the deal is a junior program to encourage middle east rallying and middle east rally drivers (though how it will work for anybody with a strict adherence to the friday/saturday muslim weekend is beyond me).

Al Qassimi is there as a short-term stop-gap to wave the flag for Abu Dhabi at the top level until one of the juniors is ready to step up. there was nobody else and he's doing all he can.

he's not bending the car much, he's being humble and modest and, let's face it, he's not costing anybody else a chair.

consider all of that, and, like me, i'm sure you can live with him being slow on snow and ice.
