Did Neuville actually break something on the suspension or was it just bodywork? (which then subsequently let water where it shouldn't go)

Yes was cancelled for startnumbers over 50. (they had to otherwise they couldnt start ss5 on time)

Which means Lefevbre and Nicolas Gronholm who are top 10 in Rally2 didn't get to drive.

A bit of both imo.

Problem is there is nowhere for him to go, only if Sordo would quit completely and that's very unlikely. Stay at MSport and pay to fight just with his teammates?

Totally agree, though listening to Julian Porter earlier, I fear the the WRC bubble/promoter will consider this event a tremendous success and want to see it copied elsewhere, because it'll make their life even easier... The short events were already a problem, now I can see them falling down the same hole as WRX. See you at sunny Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in October 2021...

This was my thought too as soon as it got announced. For hosting VIPs there's nothing that can beat it. Luckily they have various contracts in place next year so we'll see what happens. It could be a more cost-effective way of adding an extra round if it's paired with an existing traditional event.

Imo that's a bit unfair at this point, unless they were told before one or two last stages. Cause when Lappi took them it was clearly a gamble that he might not need them so much tomorrow.

Another thing is that they by now added 2 wet and 2 snow tires for WRC and nothing for WRC2/3 at all.

Adamo after leaving Neuville: "I'm not going to party, but it can happen"

"I'm not going to party!, Underlined the always surprising Andrea Adamo. I have nothing in particular to say to him. This morning, he made a small mistake, he slipped like everyone else, I can't not even call it a “mistake.” As for his abandonment, when you're in a fight for the title it can happen. It wasn't the perfect time, but motorsport is like that. don't give any special instructions during a rally like this, we're here to win. I don't want to break their c *** by telling them to be careful of that, or other c *** ** like. I'm not their mother, I don't tell them to be careful when it snows. They are professionals, they know what to do. But when you go that hard it happens encounter problems. It was a special season, Thierry had good times, like when he won the Monte-Carlo, but we also made mistakes. I hope that we will arrive more concentrated there 'next year."

Michelin did bring some new model for WRC2/3 use (even WRC is using older model)

Lappi expecting full Monte snow

Media Zone: Lappi

"I wanted to save the snow tyres for tomorrow and the heavy rain didn't really help. On the snow tyres, the block is higher which allows you to have more water on the road. We had a lot of aquaplaning on the stage and that caused some problems.

If there was only a bit of running on that Monza track and on repeated stages, I believe this rally could be amazing contender for proper spot late in the year. Mix of elements, easy access, gravel, mud, asphalt and sometimes snow!

what's the difference between Snow tire and tamarc snow tire

I'm not sure, but the tarmac snow tire is the one like a wet tire. It's wide, it fit on the tarmac rim and it should have a soft compount. The snow tire it's the one used at Sweden rally, it fit on the gravel rim, it's a narrow tire with lot of stiffness on the carcas.

Something like this

Tarmac snow (left), snow (right)

Agree with Millener tbh, what should you do if you go of the road and, as a consequence, you deviate from the road book? It was quite obvious that it wasn't intentional. It has happen so many times before that drivers over shoot a junction and they get back on the road without driving back from the road they came from.

Mirek
5th December 2020, 08:08
waiting more from Kopecky to be honest.Mirek?

Actually not for several reasons. First is that I always considered him to be more of a "dry" driver not being extra strong in bad conditions (he seems to struggle with too slow pacenotes made on snow here). The second is that he might not feel very comfortable in a new team. That is a situation he doesn't know at all. I think the last time he drove in a guest team was in his C.I.R. 2010 season in which he drove in Italy and he managed to win only one rally of the championship as far as I remember. Also he's not getting any younger. IMHO he was strongest around five years ago.

PLuto

Precipitation rest of the day.

Temps just around 0, but around 15 very likely below 0 on the high sections of stages.

So it will snow up there. The big question is how much, whether it melts on the road, and if it melts then to what consistency (slush/water).

I predict slush.
