Do Finland 2014 onboards work for anyone else? First 11 stages seem to work, but the rest of them just leave the spinner forever and nothing happens. I'd like to see Myhinpää onboard in that form.

They don't work for me either.

IF they can pull this off then it's superb and I'll happily pay that. Was concerned they'd put out maybe one onboard stream and call it 'live'. But all the signs look good. Wonder where the extra money has come from - or whether they are trying to recoup a lot of it through the increased fee?

Really? That's what I fear the most, that the studio segments will basically be WRC Radio with a camera. It's already so banal and leashed. Aside from the sort of news that you can also get from reading the "text updates", you can be sure that absolutely nothing interesting will be said. They're insiders! They hear rumors all the time! They have their own opinions! Why are they so pathologically afraid of saying anything interesting or controversial? Are they that desperate to keep getting invited to the Citroen VIP area for lunch?

What made the Red Bull TV coverage such a breath of fresh air was not that they had interviews or better graphics. It was that the hosts and interviews were actually mildly interesting and said mildly interesting things. They didn't sound like they were afraid for their jobs if they said something that upset someone. Movistar+ in Spain has a really great one hour panel discussion after each rally with regular guests like Luis Moya, Carlos Del Barrio, and WRC reporters. All they do is talk about real inside info, gossip, speculation, predictions, funny stories, opinions. It's fantastic! Here's a random episode from a few years back: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x27gfhy

There is absolutely zero reason why the English-language coverage has to be so stale in comparison. You need people who will speak their minds. Mike Chen, Colin Clark, Nicky Grist, Martin Holmes. Not necessarily those four, but people like them. Sit them down at a big table, point the camera, and just let them go at it. If the live commentary ends up being Jon Desborough making puns and the studio segments are Becs Williams talking about the weather as they were flying in, telling us the next stage start time, and not acknowledging in any way that some spectator just got hit by a car on live TV, I will unsubscribe.

Only a minor point, but still a plus point for me; It'll be nice to watch a live stage again where the top guys get the most air time/ coverage. (On the first day)

Bugs me a little always seeing the likes of Sheikh Khalid crawling through a stage on the Saturday or Sunday, and getting the most coverage compared to the top guys coming behind. Then you see in full screen Khalid or whoever it is pulling up to the stop line, taking ages to take their helmet off and then doing an interview when plenty of action is being missed. At least minimise some of the drivers interviews in a smaller screen with audio, while showing us live pictures of the main guys blasting through the stage in a bigger screen. It's not difficult.

I think the live stages are timed in the way that they can show all cars through all onstage cameras at the end of the stage. The first cars are shown for a longer time through onboard and helicopter, but once the first car gets to the finish the broadcast goes to the normal rhythm of showing a re-run of the start and then going back to the live action. Also, for the top runners on the power stage the start interval is up to 5 minutes so we get extra time for post stage interviews without colliding with next car live action.

However, I don't think this new all stages live will be a similar production as the saturday live stage or power stage. It will be just drones, onboards and helicopter with split times, commentary and post stage interviews. Kind of like expanded WRC radio.

But I agree that it sucks that we usually get to see more minutes of an uninteresting driver.

Cannot understand this promoter at all. Announce a new, novel and interesting product, make it the key feature of your own season launch, but don't have any mention of it anywhere on your website. No 'coming soon', no 'sign up for launch', no more than a news post without a single CTA.

All it did was remind me to cancel my WRC+ subscription (to take advantage of any discount code).

Don't get me wrong going, I'm really looking forward to the service and I'll sign up the day before MC, but just feel they've missed a chance to make it a wider success and take advantage of the media platform they gave themselves at the Autosport Show.

If anyone came away from that thinking "oh, I want to know when that goes live" or read about it on a site or magazine the days following and thought "I'll check that out", there was no supporting information or anything allowing them to follow up that interest; they're unlikely to get the same media impact when they say "oh, you can sign up now".

I could be wrong, but it surprises me is all.

you are in the correct place that is where you should see the unsubscribe button. Below is from the FAQ page. See last point if you purchased via Apple iTunes Store or Google Play Store

How can I cancel my subscription?
* You can cancel your monthly subscription immediately at any time and without any reasons.
* If you want to cancel the subscription for the following month, you must cancel at least one day before your subscription automatically renews.
* The cancellation process is located on your profile page.
**** In-App purchases via Apple iTunes Store or Google Play Store have to be cancelled directly in the relevant store.

you are in the correct place that is where you should see the unsubscribe button.

If that is not the answer I can only suggest contacting tech support using this link https://plus.wrc.com/en/support/contact/Thanks, it turns out I was logged-in to Google Play with a different account to the one I subscribed to WRC+. So initially I didn't see any subscriptions, but after changing my account I could unsubscribe.

But the really important question is: will it still be Jon Desborough?

Just watched the live Power Stage from Rally GB and it was so ruined by Desborough talking non-stop, even over the onboards.

If he is doing the WRC+ Live then I'll have to resort to sound off and listen to rally radio...

Few questions;

If you use the month long promo code for All live, do you have to enter your card details etc first?

And if so, will it automatically take funds out of your account if you don't cancel it before the free month expires?

Yes, you have to enter your card details, but it will not be charged. However if you do not cancel your membership before expiring date after one month, you will be charged a 8,99 Euro for the next month. If you cancel before the expiring date, you will not pay anything. It is renewed automatically each month.

If you have an exisitng subscription I don`t think you`ll be able to use the promo code. What I did was stop my current subscription and then started a new one on a different email using the promo code. I`ll see how it goes at Monte and Sweden and then decide which level of service to continue for the rest of the season. There may be another way but I found this to be the most straightforward. I also signed up to the new account on the website, rather than using the app as I had done before, to make it easier to manage in the future.

Should have said i'd only took out another month subscription on + as i'd some previous onboards I wanted to lookup and then this was announced I only take a month now and again so I took the month option as I don't think i'd take the full use of having the year option.

Some of my thoughts on the live Shakedown stream:

This new lady Kiri Bloore is clearly a professional TV commentator. She is flawless in front of the camera. Whoever hired her for this: good job.

Jon Desborough's commentary was actually not banal. Much of it was even interesting! I really hope that will continue. He did make a couple of mistakes that can be quickly addressed:

1. Every time Bloore was talking to camera, Desborough was looking at her or staring off in the distance. When someone is talking to camera, everyone in the shot needs to be looking into the camera, otherwise it looks awkward.
2. If you make a hand gesture, make sure it will not block your face from view.
3. Don't make any sounds as the other person is speaking unless you actually want to interrupt. If you want to show agreement or disagreement with what someone is saying, just nod or shake your head. Bloore nearly stumbled a couple of times because Desborough interjected as she was talking.
4. The hosts should both be essentially facing the camera, with bodies just sliiightly turned towards each other. Bloore was positioned correctly, but Desborough was turned way too much towards her, so we only saw half his face. This is more the fault of the cameraman and/or producer.

As I said, a couple of easy fixes and he could turn out to be quite good.

Molly Pettit seemed a little nervous and lost for words when she was on her own, but that will come very quickly with a bit of practice. She has had practice interviewing, and it shows, because she was very good with Nandan. One thing I would suggest is to not try to have talking points or times/data on a phone, but instead written down. The phone will always do something unexpected on camera. It will not unlock, it will dim as you're reading it, the thing you're looking for won't load, you'll accidentally swipe away from what you wanted to see, etc. A notebook is much more dependable. See, e.g. Ted's Qualifying Notebook (https://youtu.be/xuBhtbcUpho?t=462).

Production was fairly good for a first run. A few times they cut away to some shots totally unrelated to what the hosts were talking about. The worst of these was when they suddenly cut to the map of the shakedown stage, and it had annoying background music that drowned out the commentary. If you're going to cut away from people who are talking, there should be minimal or no audio on the other shot! And for something important like a live map, you've got to give your host enough advance warning so that she can finish what she was saying and tell the audience what they're about to see. Again, these are simple mistakes for a first timer, I am sure the producer will improve quickly.

Overall, I would say this was better than expected, and very, very promising for the future. Bloore in particular was astonishingly good for someone who (I assume) did not follow WRC before today. As she learns more about all the key players and stories in the service park, I think she could end up being the face of the WRC as much as Paul King is its voice.

What did you all think?

Why not? To my understanding that means that subscription is still active, so you can watch, but you have cancelled it, so it won't renew anymore, and eventually becomes inactive (or whatever word they are using).

Have you "cancelled' your subscription so it does not auto renew but still have some paid for days/weeks/months remaining ? Your account should remain "active" until your paid for period runs out.

For All Live, as surely that's the point of it. Some were saying it wasn't working anymore but I used it last night and worked fine. Seemingly like Eli, I'd cancelled my WRC+ but had to wait for that months subscription to expire so I could use the promo code. If that expiry date was next week I'd seemingly had to have paid the upgrade. Bit of a design fault or swizz...

Same thing here for me now. I already have regular WRC+ until later this year, but wanted to 'upgrade' to ALL LIVE.

Instead, when you select the 'upgrade' option, it simply charges you the full amount for a years WRC+ ALL LIVE.

Thus, I have effectively paid for several months WRC+ that I can never use again and a brand new, fresh, ALL LIVE subscription starting with todays date at full price. Not an upgrade to my exisiting subscription.

I wish WRC+ ALL LIVE the very best of luck, but the sign-up and upgrade option is disingenuous at best, a rip-off.

It didn't even give me a 'confirm' option, or a way of updating any details/selecting payment method. It just went right ahead with a purchase.

I've asked for a refund to return to my regular WRC+ and expect a response.

Seems many people are having issues with that, it's most likely a bug in their system. I suggest everyone that has the problem to send them some transaction information about the double payment maybe even a bank statement. Hopefully they will recognize the problem and put it right. Stuff like this sucks but I doubt there is ill intent, probably just incompetence so try to enjoy the rally, I doubt they will steal your money.

Now even to the untrained eye that is a clear indicator that Neuville has a major problem, yet none of the presenters or other people in the background take a note. Then they show the onboard of Tanak passing Neuville and they're like: 'Oh a Hyundai is stationary, but which one?' We're all very aware of the starting order because we're bloody watching it IN THIS MOMENT. Wake up guys, Jesus Christ.

And on first stage all that one woman was talking about that she doesn't know what tires they have super soft or soft... What a joke. No times at all even at live timing sections. Live text delayed. Presenters didn't know anything. Boring interviews... Hope that tomorrow will be better.

I actually fell asleep during the second stage and missed like half of it 'cause my eyes couldn't continue on seeing a rotating green map all the time...they should have just let Red-Bull TV do the full coverage honestly, bring some Mike Chen, some special guests and walla it will improve dramaticly. One thing on the bright side of the live coverage, John didn't call Meeke 'The man from Dungannon'....

Just read through all the moaning in the Monte thread but I honestly believe there was a lot of promise shown in what we saw tonight, I really enjoyed it. Even with the problems they still managed to get the Ogier moment out and various other onboards, the quality of which seemed to get more consistent later on in the broadcast of SS1. Breen's onboard in particular held up very well. SS2 was a bit more unfortunate but I still preferred that to just Rally Radio. Getting all the live comments when they arrived back at service (shown almost Ted Kravitz F1 notebook style) was great too. Being able to see Ogier's moment and Tommi's interview were the highlights of the experience! :D

I always felt Jon Desborough would be better in a presenter style role, with him really not being suited to commentary, but I think the role he played here tonight really worked and suited his style. Hopefully everybody stays in the roles they undertook tonight as I think everyone played their part well, particularly the main female present who seemed confident in the role and will only get better.

Just read through all the moaning in the Monte thread but I honestly believe there was a lot of promise shown in what we saw tonight, I really enjoyed it.

I agree and disagree with you in parts mate.

Pros; I agree that there is definitely a lot of potential there, and was very pleased with the new female presenter and Jon in the studio. The commentary was actually pretty good too and Paul King was better than when doing the highlight shows. The onboards steadily improved but only for certain cars. Still a bit too much talking over the on-board footage but that's just to be expected by now. The Julian porter 'walk through' with the drivers at the end was great, and hearing Tanak and his engineer speaking was for me the best part of the night! I liked the live interviews with the drivers and team bosses.

Cons;
:Having Molly down at the start line didn't work due to them dwelling on the start too long and her "I'm not sure whether he's on softs or super softs" rhetoric (I like her and she will be an asset for the All Live team, but tonight wasn't great). It could be a nice feature to have a presenter down at the start of the first stage of each rally/day, but go split screen so we don't miss out on the action in the stage and don't do it on most stages.
:The god awful background music that kept playing was an annoyance, and the second stage was a shambles looking at that rotating map with no live feed whatsoever - but hopefully that was just a first day glitch.
:They really, really need to stop with the pre recorded interviews of drivers once the stage is live though. I mean fucking hell, if you're going to show interviews show them before the stage starts, or in a tiny screen in the corner so we can keep watching the live stage. As someone on here posted, they don't show clips of footballers giving interviews when a match has started.
:The quality of onboards can and does need to increase. I know this is rallying and you can be up a mountain or in forest, but when you charge for content it has to be the best it can be, and tonight it wasn't.
:Also disappointed with the lack of stage end interviews, especially on the first stage.
:And most of all, we missed most of the drama! We missed Neuville's, Tanak's, Breen's, Latvala's and Meeke's offs and didn't see replays.

I think having a helicopter up will help the production a lot and there's some very small changes that can be made which will dramatically improve the coverage. What I care about most is watching the guys in the stage when live, and seeing as much of them as possible whether through onboards or with the helicopter too. Keep it simple in that regard and build on the good points, and we could have a great product here. Tomorrow will be a better indicator I'm sure.

* Also I totally understand all the moaning earlier, I myself did a lot of it. But when you're waiting in anticipation for the start of the season and have it in your head you'll be able to see it 'ALL Live', it got incredibly frustrating. Especially as the first stage was full of huge drama. Some people also paid a lot of money for it, so would be doubly annoyed. Particularly in the heat of the moment

Let's see what today brings, i hope at least technically that the coverage improves. I think the problem with the format is they (the director? producer?) have not switched mentally from a "recorded summary" to "broadcasting a live sporting event". Also about the interviews, to me that smells of someone in a meeting saying "we need to show the drivers talking in order to make them well known to the fans" and this is what they came up with. We keep saying it but they really need to change their editing, especially now that they have those service area scenes.

Some thoughts:
- The new presenter lady is very good at her job, she was almost flawless, I didn't cringe at all.
- Desborough is actually not bad in a "pundit" role where he can provide color and context commentary.
- Provided they will be better technically, they need more commentators (get Mike Chen) and especially they need some former rally drivers/co-drivers
- I liked seeing stuff from the service area between stages and interviews with teams saying how the stage went.
- They need better on screen graphics - this is a big one - stuff like constant rolling intervals and splits, a graphic showing tyre choice - stuff like that

I would rather have them show lots of WRC2 cars etc. than all these rather pointless interviews.

Also, with supportclasses being sent, that will be a tiny tiny help to get sponsors for those guys, which in turn will give a tiny boost for those drivers and classes. More cars means more fun, which in turn brings a bit more media coverage, and then we have the ball rolling.

That would be much better than the stuff they have now.

There are more people that have passion for the sport and are in bussiness far more than these jokers who doen't have a clue what's going on... It so boring that will be better if they have nothing shown at all. Like I said previously I enjoyed live radio more but they ruined that too.

I wasn't expecting all stages to be covered as the previous ones like power stage.
During night is awful. Interviews during action are an insult to the sport and to people who paid for that.
However, I watched SS4 this morning and it wasn't that bad. It would have been good with timing working.
Anyway it could be worth the price with a split-table fixed in the HUD, better position of cameras inside the car (I'm going to give up on this), and if it's possible HD quality videos from onboard, but I don't know how it could be feasable in the middle of the mountains.

They have to pay the production whether it works properly from the start or not.

A quick update on this.

My WRC+ ALL LIVE has been cancelled by the promoter.

I have not received a single response to my query. No email, or confirmation.

I have not received back the 6 months of outstanding WRC+

I have not received any form of a refund.

Summary - I have paid for both WRC+ Basic and WRC+ALL LIVE, yet I have zero access to anything.

Shambolic!

It's a bit too sketchy for that, at least flying close and you're not able to follow for that many corners even though i think they get the Inspire 2 up to 100kph now. After Monte I must say that I am quite disappointed with live coverage. For me they are making still the same mistakes like in the last years. As a comparison I am still taking 7 years old live from IRC Monte by Eurosport, you can remember here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2985&v=6gm2tVfJZ9s.

And why I dont like so much actual coverage of WRC? Talks in studio or at the start line or visits in the service are nice additional bonus. But usually I dont watch/listen it so much, I am not interested in it. But, when stage is going, I want to focus on the stage and watch what is happening. You can see on Eurosport footage, when first cars starts, they are always following the stage. Always you see the action, one or two onboards, static cameras. When there is cut to another crew, you immediatelly see in graphics who is it and usually also with actual time. No stupid pre-recorded interviews with drivers about nothing, no long graphics of pictures of cars, no long watching rotating map of the stage. Commentators knows what is happening and they are talking about what is really happening on stage. You can see lot of spins there, overtaking cars etc. What we have seen on Monte? They were lucky that Ogier, who they were following all the time, did two spuns in live coverage. But there were much more action...

Like I told, I think there is big potential with Red Bull and live coverage. But I am not sure if their philosophy is the best one. I must say that this philosophy doesnt suit me as I prefer to know what is really happening on the stage. Maybe it should be good for them to hire one person, who will not be commenting, but only watching the stage and news and giving this informations to commentators (and director) in time?

I was thinking about teh commentators as well:
- The new presenter from the studio is good imo, she's good as a moderator and hasn't said anything cringey or annoying. It's not her job to be an expert.
- Desborough is ok as a pundit in the studio but was extremely annoying when commentating a live stage. He keeps talking nonsense about driver ambitions and what they said two days ago but offers practically no useful information during the stage.
- Molly Petit (the one who didn't know what tyres everyone had on day 1) is just a regular run of the mill interviewer but i'd move her to end of stages where she just has to ask simple short questions.
- I'd bring Colin Clark from the stages to the media zone. He can ask more interesting questions and I think he could have some nice banter with drivers and co-drivers
- Julian Porter is good in the studio and commentating, i wouldn't send him to do the driver interviews in the media zone
- Becs is ok, makes a mistake now and then but catches herself, she's much better at commentating a live stage than the two guys that do the power stage. I'd pair her with someone who is knowledgeable about driving/technical stuff so she can concentrate on fluff and excitement and the other person can concentrate on analysing a bit what we're seeing.
- Paul King is good as a commentator

And they need an ex competitor expert at each rally, the red bull coverage was very good when they brought in Matthew Wilson or Luis Moya for example.

Amen! Tbh I got cold feet about the prospect of having a ‘Becs and Clark TV Show’ (they can be great, but their overexcited tone somehow tires me) and this Kiri girl was a fantastic surprise. She’s a natural in front of the camera and even Desborough sounds better at her side; ok, she may lack rally info, but she’ll learn it quickly. It’s also nice to have Molly in the service area, although she can improve a bit. Besides the tech failures, I just regret Becs and the other commentators talking too much during the stages; they really should let us hear codrivers notes (no matter if they’re in English or not) a bit more. After Sweden I’ll be more than happy to pay for the service (btw, it can be shared by 2 or 3 users?).
