Wow, what's up with Ketomaa? :s Really slow..

It's very rare that I'm right but I've never thought he was a top level driver and it seems I'm proven correct. Never understood why people on here said he'd be anywhere near good enough for top 4 but everyone is entitled to be wrong sometimes! He's just a 2nd or 3rd tier driver like Araujo and Wilson in my eyes.

It is somehow funny how rarely they drive in the dark in WRC compared to IRC or even national events. I know it's different between asphalt and gravel but still for example in our championship almost all rounds have night stages, often whole one leg...

By the way very nice time from Paddon on SS2.

46.1 GENERAL
46.1.1 Unless stated differently in the event Supplementary Regulations, a crew which has failed to
complete a section may be assumed to re-start the rally from the start of the next section following the

Sebastien Loeb’s lead of the FIA World Rally Championship is under threat after the French ace went off the road approximately seven kilometres from the start of stage three of Vodafone Rally de Portugal.

Loeb was running second on the road in his Citroen DS3 WRC and posted the third fastest time on stage two. Although both he and co-driver Daniel Elena were uninjured, their car is understood to have ended up some distance from the road. It has been reported they will not restart under Rally 2 regulations on Friday.

Wow, I know that Loeb is against endurance rallies and wants shorter events but this is taking it a bit far.

So what should Ford do for tactics? Let Petter run with it and Jari-Matti get some solid points or let them duke it out on the stages and risk it all to Mikko, and could this be the year Hirvonens plod along consistency finally pays off??? Very early in the season but this makes a change not to be talking about Seb and Daniel waltzing away with the lead :)

“They went off on a situation when the road turned on the top [on a crest], the road turned to the right and Sebastien turned to the left,” said Matton. “The pace note was good, but he didn’t follow the indication, just before the top the road was going a little bit to the left and we think he was looking more to the road and he didn’t follow the note. Sebastien said the impact was not heavy. We don’t know how many times the car rolled, but enough to make sure it won’t start tomorrow.”

Matton continued: “The cage was damaged on the top. Sometimes this can happen if the first roll is heavy, but we don’t know. Anyway, the cage is bent. This can happen, it’s the rally. Sebastien Loeb against night stages

Sebastien Loeb has admitted the shift towards night stages in the World Rally Championship could hasten his decision to retire from the sport. The eight-time world champion has a contract with Citroen until the end of next season, but the Frenchman has a clause in the deal which would allow him to walk away at the end of 2012. FIA president Jean Todt and WRC manager Michele Mouton have pushed on in recent weeks with their vision to take the sport back to its endurance roots. But Loeb admitted he found it difficult to share their enthusiasm for change.

Yeah, but let's look at the margins that now exist from 1st to 5th.

Good drivers, but small margins. Do we really care about night stages?

Given that Jean Todt wants to push this more, aren't we just risking a situation whereby we have longer time over more days to know who's going to win?

I'd prefer a good tight sprint over 2 days under more equal situation to find out who truly is the winner.

Rallydriving contains many different skills, why not driving in the dark. It will again introduce notes at a higher level than what it has been in quite a few years now.
If you are afraid it is not fair, you can have a service just before dark, so all starting field from number one, begins on the next stage in full darkness.
One can of course also have this in a sprint rally.

If we include to compare drivers from the past to now. I would like to see anyone who could be able to follow Marku Alen on Finnish roads in fog at night.
I will also include chick from France in Audi on British stages in heavy rain in the dark.
Drivers of today, of course, no real experience of darkness, but that does not mean that it should not be introduced again.

Prokop's Fiesta sounds and accelerates like old Escort mk2 :D he says it was the coil (bobbin) and is already repaired. Sordo had a ruptured alternator cable. Paddon confessed his stunning time in SS2 was due to soft tyre choice. Breen had a misfire after a watersplash.

Easy 1-2 for the Fords if they dont anything extremely stupid. If Solberg make 10 seconds to Hirvonen in the first loop he will give up for sure, his frustration of unsuccesfull chasing over the years is too big.

About Loeb's crash... He is 37, does not have as good night vision as younger guys. Not saying that's affecting much but combined with maybe not optimal starting position, loose headlights and pushing to fight Fords and quite reasonable team mate is a combination that starts to make crashes possible for Loeb also.

I'm just saying, but Loeb takes vision test every year and he got good enough vision to fly a fighter jet (where night vision is very important) so it has nothing to do with his vision or age

Plus he said on a french interview that he heard the note "right" but went left...

Weather conditions have improved compared to the ones visible on the pictures (previous page), currently there should be some light showers and some very heavy showers and thunderstorms are possibility for the day. But the amount of water that came down during the night and morning was huge, temperature is only around 10..15 degrees, so even if the stages escape from some showers, they should be in pretty bad conditions.
Northernmost parts of the stages got the biggest amount of rain and will get today, so, I guess the wetest will be SS7 and dryest will be the start of SS5

George Donaldson commentating on WRR? Gee, isnt that just massively below what this guy deserves?
I mean, the guy obviously is what can be classed as an expert in world rallying, but surely being on radio is such an insult to his professional career IMO.
