If the WRC27 will not be fixed, even Toyota will call it quits.

If this continues the current formula of Rally1 will run until ‘28 (like when they did the U-Turn on hybrids back in ‘24), I really do wish they’d go back to basics and we’d have a DS3/Fiesta line-up, not as thrilling as current Rally1s or previous WRC ‘17 cars but still cool enough to watch both on the stages and on tv and they ‘only’ used to cost €500,000 which is still more(?) than half of the price that they are now.
Only you know your true potential.

im here to apologize to my mates on this forum for saying things would be just fine for the next couple of seasons.
i honest thought fia had stopped trying to ruin the sport but i was wrong. one cant be safe when it comes to fia deciding things. now we are NOT going to have a sh1t ton of R5s competing against some wrc27 toyotas next year and thats ridiculous.
we can hope the other projects are ready for 2028, but yeah.... 2027 is not looking so good right now IMO.
im sorry for trusting fia hahahahaha mother in heaven

Wasnt THAT the idea after all? Rally2s as top class TOGETHER with the new WRC27 Cars - that would be entering the sport over the next decade, replacing the Rally2s for tube frame cars for safety reasons, little by little as a way to control the costs? Wasnt that the plan? There were even rumors on the new '27 Toyota being slower than the Yaris Rally2.
EDIT: FFS, just read that Skoda and Lancia are probably out because its not about BUILDING THE RALLY2 KIT AND PROFIT BY SELLING IT (which would be a totally decent idea. There would be teams and privateers willing to buy it, lets be honest). But No, the 'Manufacturer' MUST run 2 cars in all events. They said they dont have that budget coming from the motherships (VW and Stellantis) like Toyota have. Lets wait on the Koreans now... I kinda doubt they are willing to continue in WRC, wasting money to lose to Toyota again.Last edited by giu canbera; Today at 19:50.

That's the big question. If nobody can find a formula that will attract manufacturers to make rally cars (not even necessarily run works teams), then going the historic way is the only solution. Not my first pick, but I don't feel it's hijacking rallying, since those soon to be historic rally cars already exist and already rallied around the world, they would just belong to a different time.
As I see it, the moment you change such core aspects of rallying/WRC, they cease to be themselves and die. The one "trying to survive" would be a different entity, which should be called with another name.

As it seems right now, it will be those WRC27 proto things vs Rally2 + kit, which only few seem interested in making. All other regular Rally2 cars would be a lower category... but people don't seem so sure that regular Rally2 will be definitely slower than the WRC27 made up cars.

It doesn't help that current rally cars are the fundamentally wrong cars for rallying now (in my oppinion). We should be driving super cars and/or jeeps, since with them you at least have a...
