haha thats the point. when they were trying to make it a global championship there were investors believing it was possible: big sponsors, f1 track promoters, manufacturers. i love this sport but lets be honest, there was no RoI. it is just a niche thing after all. it took them 2 or 3 years to realize that (probably contracts with fines tbf) but eventually they all jumped out of that sinking boat. then came the pandemic.
but the most unexplainable thing for me was HOW ON HELL did redbull decided to take over a sport that brought NO RoI to anyone, put it behind a pay wall (???)... and then how the FIA believed having electric cars would be a good idea on a sport that brought NO RoI to anyone? on a sport that was build on "lets give these rich brits & scandinavian blokes a place for them to race their crappy cars". (no offense, thats literally one of my favorite sports hehe) this is beyond my imagination. i can only guess some kind of money laundering... ??
but anyway. going back to be an european championship is the right move. 100% (hope they grow up the rumored 6 events! even autocross is having 10 races/season). sure, have a "world cup' race or two overseas for the top guys who have more money, sure. but thats it. it is not a global championship. im honestly more excited than ever with this. hope they keep the broadcast hahaLast edited by saco0o; Today at 10:31.
