Can anyone give an example of how this rule will make any difference at all to what we see next year?

I think now the nominated driver must be so in at least 10 events.

For example, this year Hyundai has nominated Sordo as first driver. That means that on at least 10 rallies he must be in the main team alongside Paddon, Neuville or whoever they want. Without this rule you could have Paddon+Neuville on more than 4 rallies in the main team.

In reality this will not change much for next year for the current teams because they have stable driver line-ups and in case of force majeur (injuries for example) they are allowed to substitute the nominated driver anyway.

The only team that could benefit more is Toyota if they will have many drivers that they want to alternate.

This is what I mean. Due to the stable lineups it doesn't really make any difference. It just means Hyundai don't need to make a controversial decision.

But does this ruling now effectively rule out three-car teams for next year?

I believe 3 cars teams is the idea, just 2 drivers are to be nominated

Specifically, told Rallye-Magazin, Adamo has acknowledged that the Korean company is waiting for the decision of the FIA about the new regulations for Turbo R2, which are gradually replacing previous models with atmospheric thrusters. Citroën is another brand that is expected to follow the path marked by M-Sport while the Ford Fiesta 1.0 turbo engine R2T.

What has ruled the sporting career chief client Hyundai-section is not expected to have a car category R1 as all current models in the catalog of the firm are too large to fit into it.

We know that the FIA wants to change the rules so that these cars are cheaper. We now expect a firm decision. The worst thing would invest money and resources in one thing suddenly changes. Typically R2 is expected to be equipped by small turbo engines in the future. It seems the future of all manufacturers.
