before start he had closed eyes for quite long as well
Matton should first decide, or he want win a rally and other stuff don't care, or he want to score points and win a manu titile.

Maybe just stupid question from WRC TV crew?
that expression and body language was already obvious before the TV crew asked any questions
Missed the stage, what was the issue(s) with Kris? He's always off the pace on super specials anyway so no alarm with the time, but im guessing he wasn't happy or had a moan to the TV crews?

HELP request.
Two Kiwi rally fans made a last minute decision to fly from NZ to Portugal to support Hayden Paddon & Seb Marshall. They have made it to Porto but all organised tour groups are full with no cancellations. They are struggling to get out to stages. If anyone knows of 2 spare seats in a car, truck or van they would love to get in contact. They are very happy to share fuel and vehicle costs. Please email me KiwiWRCfan@vodafone.co.nz if you can assist them
Thanks to a member of this forum our 2 Kiwi fans will be off to watch Rally Portugal stages. Rally truly is an international community of friends :-)

I think there has been 3 or 4 Fords in many year/events but not under same team/entry name. Even if they've been serviced under same tent.

Yes 2007/8 Ford had Grönholm and Hirvonen in their main team (in which you were only allowed two drivers) and Latvala in the Stobart (B-team) car. The other Stobart car was piloted by Henning Solberg making it 4 Scandinavian drivers.
If you want to win employ a Fin (or one of those hyper French guys) :D

Or maybe he knows the car is a piece of sh1t?
And he could win a rally and lead Corsica with this piece? If car was bad (like SX4 or so) - that car can't win a rally

For his own team, but through M-Sport, because the rules require a WRC car to be entered through a registered manufacturer team. I think Bertelli has the same arrangement. Suninen will drive an actual M-Sport fourth car later this year?

So Latvala leads for Toyota.
Ogier must have made a mistake on the second sector of ss2 because even Lefebvre is ahead of him there.
Anyone know? I'm on satellite Internet and can't access rally radio.
I'm not sure why we are impressed with Lappi yet... His times are not crap, but they're not blowing anyone away yet at least.
Shame about problem for Paddon on SS3, he was going well. Not out of contention but it will damage his confidence (and he seems sensitive to that).

This is panning out nicely for Ogier. Only Latvala has made decisive use of road position - I expect if he doesn't get too excited he can end the morning withabout a 12 second lead on Ogier. Ogier shopuld jump into second place after the second loop. Very good prospect for a big fight tomorrow

I think it's mixture with first on the road sweeping and getting into a problem with big ruts and rocks when you start far back. And Latvala, Tanak and Nueville have a perfect road position in this case.
It makes me so happy to see Latvala back at it again :D This time, Ogier can't blame his time loss on anything or anyone else than himself.

I really don't understand Citroën now. It's quite clear the Lefebvre doesn't have the talent to drive WRC cars, and to he tries to compensate by driving out of his comfort-zone. Now he has crashed again, while still being way way too slow. Citroën should do the right thing and remove him from the team before he will have a really serious accident. This can afterall be a dangerous sport if you don't have the talent.
...and btw. Mikkelsen is right there for the taking. What on earth are they thinking (I guess the advertisement of their home market)

Fri 11:48 - Stage info: SS4
Ponte de Lima, 27.46km. Like the previous test, Ponte de Lima is driven in the opposite direction to last year. It is best known for being the stage in which Hayden Paddon and Ott Tänak crashed 12 months ago when the Kiwi’s Hyundai i20 burned out. The roads are wide and smooth but extremely twisty, with hardly a straight to speak of. There are plenty of surface changes as it includes sandy gravel, cobblestones, concrete and asphalt.

- Breen very good start
- Ogier loosing very little, Latvala also very good
- all 3 Hyundais surprisingly slow (even without Paddons engine issue)
- DMACK tires not so epic here
- Lappi better than expected imo, and already ahead of Hanninen
- Lefevbre has now crashed in all 4 rallies with C3 and not a single time has he shown a good pace, honestly can't remember any manu. driver with consistently worse performance (Duval was at least fast and Hirvonen at Subaru didn't crash every rally)
- Mikkelsen 36s ahead after 4 stages, while Evans was about even with the same people in R5s whole last year, was expecting he'd have some competition here, but he clearly seems to be a level above

I'm confused, they're saying Ogier was quicker than Latvala, but the times shown on wrc.com say something different.

Fri 16:44 - SS5: Meeke
Third quickest here and Meeke takes the rally lead by two-tenths. His car's front tyres are badly worn but he is carrying two spares. "Let's see how we can manage them over the loop," he says. "I have two spare tyres to bring into play. Let's see how it plays out."

Ostberg punctured and had to change it.. :(
'Ostberg reaches the finish but he's lost more than 3min to the leaders. He holds his head in his hands. What happened? "We had a puncture. A slow one. I thought we could go to the end but we couldn't. After 1km we were on the rim. We had to stop and change it. The rim was broken so it took a long time."'

It's Lappi's first rally in WRC car and until he got this damage he was faster than him. Even if they have exactly the same speed, that is not a good news for Hanninen in any way.
(this comes from someone who is not Lappi's fan by any means)

I think the comparison of Lappi and Hänninen vs. Latvala is extremely unfair. Ok, ok, they all have the same car, and teammates are always compared against each other, but this on-form Latvala is an animal. There aren't too many drivers in the world who could match him at the moment.
