“I have a lot of experience of snow and I’ll try to take advantage of that,” said Østberg, for whom this is his 11th Sweden start.
“My start position is good as well so if I can use everything to my advantage that’s my only hope. The other guys have more experience than me of the new car.
“Everything is new, the car, the team, everything. It’s crazy to drive this car, just fantastic. The speed we’re able to build between the corners is amazing, especially when you find some grip.

Look at the surface of the stage, not too much snow and ice layer becomes gravelly, visible in later runners. To have one faster run during first pass is OK, no gravel and no harm for tyres. And why they were faster in Monte? They were using snow tyres there. Driving on bit snowy surface in - degrees for couple of km does not make much harm for the tyres. But here is very long Shakedown and you can destroy 4 tyres completely in 4 runs.

Here same situation and I think with same result. Some fresh tyres still remain after rally

Citroen didnt take any advantage, because:

a) weather was changing, so teams didnt need to use so many studded tyres
b) both drivers retired during the rally and saved more tyres :)

My impressions from Shakedown.
- Really bad for the fans with the tire-strategy.
- Tumbs up to Ostberg, Meeke and some others who was fullspeed every round.
- Hyundai looks really fast, very good pace from Theirry and Paddon at least on two passes and engine have a very nice sound.
- Tänak/Evans tried but to wide driving, Ogier was really slow.
- Ostberg looks really fast, fast and very accurate driving every pass.
- Toyota, engine seems to have lack of power against Ford, Citroen and Hyundai but also not the best pace from none of the drivers.
- WRC2, a lot of drivers who had really good pace, Pontus did only one pass and was fastest by marginal in that, then faster times from the other on later passes. Henning was going really full pace, also Sunninen, Greensmith tried hard. Camilli will be fast i think, he was very spectacular second pass.

Will be a very interesting rally.

I think people really underestimate the level of the last iteration of the WRC car before this one.

They were miles faster than any group B car and were the fastest for ages.

We all know that power figures on paper were only just that and the level of sofistication in the suspension etcetc made them real beasts.

Looks like an interesting event with some surprises and close battles. Really happy to see Latvala on top form and the Toyota showing it is a decent car after all some have said.. ;)

Solid start for the Citroen's too and Meeke easing his way back into contention. Breen also setting some good times in the 2017 car.

Pityabout Evans puncture but the other MSport's look good and Ogier coming strong despite road position.

Neuville could still be the man to beat here though... very confident in his car again like Monte...

When I was at Monte Lefebvre stalled the engine in front of me, but he soon restarted, he lost about 2 seconds, no more.
At the stage end interview he said he lost 6-7 seconds :)
