Consani + Landais?
Cornus + Dauchel

Thanks, I added Julien Dauchel for Cornus but am undecided about Robert Consani's co-driver.

Rene's suggestion Boyere is paired with #62 Stephane Consani so Noel's suggestion Landais sounds better but what's his first name? Vincent?

Edit: Ah, Landais is confirmed by http://www.lalsace.fr/sport/2013/10/04/speciale-n-1

Neuville's maiden win draws closer as opposition makes mistakes...

Long way to go.......

Speaking of mistakes, Mikkelsen very lucky with his overshoot.

Bartek
5th October 2013, 10:36
Mikkelsen had a big moment

jonkka
5th October 2013, 10:37
Long way to go.......

That's true but only one faster is Ogier and he can pull out only a sec or so per stage. So he'd need 26 stages to overtake...
Mathematically and theoretically...

noel157
5th October 2013, 10:39
I imagine we'll see Ogier going faster as the day goes on. Fast enough? Who knows...

jonkka
5th October 2013, 10:41
Also remember that tomorrow is only 56 km long.

Next one is long one and will likely be a bit of a decider...

2 assumptions - 1) TN has a faultless run 2) The tyre usage is currently the same

What happened to Kostka ? Why didn't he restart ?

jonkka
5th October 2013, 11:26
seems that splits are wrong..

I am not at all sure about that because the gap between Sebs at final split (approx 3 secs) stayed till the end. More likely it's that Neuville's moment - if it occured between final split and finish it would account the time difference from +3,9 to -6.5 secs. Similarly Latvala was behind at final split but ahead at the end.

Mirek
5th October 2013, 11:31
What happened to Kostka ? Why didn't he restart ?

What would be a reason for that? There was everything wrong with his start already from recce. First his co-driver had to be taken to hospital during recce so they decided to call Chris Patterson who was there to help. They made pacenotes for some stages only from video or pacenotes of others and even for the rest it wasn't sure perfect solution because Tomáš has never driven a single kilometer with English pacenotes before. When the top mount of front right damper broke on SS2 (after a jump) there was nothing more to fight for. Tomáš went to France to make good result not to cruise with no chance for anything.

5th October 2013, 11:32
Neuville's mistake cost him about 3 seconds, it was shown on the live stream. No reason for 10sec difference. Splits are completely wrong.

THE stage for Loeb to make a difference was Pays d'Ormont, or Hohlandsbourg today, and it didn't happen... On tomorrows stages I think the starting position could be in the advantage of Latvala, especially if the roads will be wet, but can he handle it, mentally?

dont remember where i listen it,but when Latvala asked about that he said''ask Capito''
In an other interview he mention that, my order at this rally is to collect points for championship, thats why i believe that Ogier will attack for the win.For sure he can handle the pressure also better from Latvala. And today was clearly faster.
Of course if Ogier have a problem,or a wrong tyre choice will give him the ok to attack.

I guess the worse performance of Ogier in first leg was more related to this situation. He became a world champion, first different one after nine years, in his home country but nobody there was interested in him. All the crowds, all French media are there because it is the last rally of Loeb. I can imagine that Ogier must have felt mad about that.

OK, so what can Ogier do but win the Championship in a dominant fashion ?

Ogier had to leave Citroen and then have a year out waiting for the Polo. Loeb chose to retire and not compete with him in 2013 - why ? Did he fear him and not want to risk a blemish to his legacy ? And this season Loeb has only done the events he has chosen as they are his favourites

None of this is Ogier's fault, so his Championship is as valid as any ever has been.

His championship is valid and he deserves it but a 39 year old Loeb who hasn;t competed on tarmac for about a year and on any rally for around 5 months comes here with an INFERIOR car and he is just 3.5 seconds away... with such a small margin i think it really doesn;t matter who wins...

Loeb is the true winner and the media, you and me and everyone knows that... If Ogier dominated (AS HE SHOULD) the rally and Loeb was 1-2 minutes behind then it would be a different story... now you cannot say for sure that Ogier was the best man this year overall because there is always the doubt.. what if Loeb competed ?? That is why i am saying this championship is garbage and its Loebs fault.

Ogier did not do anything wrong of course but this year he just picks up the garbage Loeb left for him... maybe this was Loebs revenge...

To defeat Loeb in Monte Carlo and in Argentina. But that's of course very easy to write from an armchair.

Ogier had to leave Citroen and then have a year out waiting for the Polo. Loeb chose to retire and not compete with him in 2013 - why ? Did he fear him and not want to risk a blemish to his legacy ?

Don't think so. For me it's silly to even think about Loeb being afraid of anyone. He sent a whole generation of rally gods to retirement and than defeated all the young coming one after another. I do believe he really felt tired by the whole WRC circus, all the traveling, recce, almost no time at home etc. Time is running fast and one day You find that there are some other things You shall do in Your life...

And this season Loeb has only done the events he has chosen as they are his favourites

The selection was actually quite curious as he chose some events he has pretty bad record in (Sweden) and didn't select his strongest event of all times (Germany).

None of this is Ogier's fault, so his Championship is as valid as any ever has been.

Like the saying goes in football, ' You can only beat the team put in front of you..'

Monte Carlo and Argentina again. People will always remember that. For the sport and especially Ogier himself it would be best if he finishes ahead of Loeb tomorrow. That would be the proper way to take the crown. Let's see.

I'm still wondering why Loeb decided to drive the four rallies this year. It's like a spiteful kick in Ogier's ass when every few months the old guy comes back and spoils the party...

It deosn't really make a difference. the gap is so small it is not about driving ability anymore...

Ogier failed to dominate over Loeb this year while he had everything on his side... so he picks up the garbage this year and he focuses to dominate the following 2-3 championships to make people forget.

Maybe tired to do the SAME all this years.Fia-gt is something different, pikespeak is again different. He didn t said that he will stay at home.
Maybe the deal with Citroen wanted these 4 particular rallies for their marketing reasons.

nice news if true..

What’s the strategy for tomorrow and will there be team orders?
JC: The rally is so exciting and close that we will let them go. They both want to win the rally and we told them to do what they have to do to win. There are no team orders, they can go flat out.

YM: There’s no real plan. The only one is to try to win. Four guys are separated by five seconds. As Jost said, any of the four drivers are able to win and they have done a great weekend. Nobody can tell any of those drivers they don’t deserve to win.

Right now i doubt there are casual rally fans with he promotion the sport gets.... only freaks of nature and the abominations of the motorsport society... most casual motorsport fans prefer ladyboys going in circles.

I think when the gap is that small and when the battle so fierce it will take some time to forget it, just like the previous 2 times in NZ... and the fact that it is Loebs final rally will add to it.

The point is Ogier failed to dominate the only true rival he had this year so instead of picking up the torch of glory and carry on riding in the sunset like a true warrior drenched in the blood of his enemies (damn i am good !!!) he just picked up the garbage bag and moved slowly toward the garbage pit... next year his true championship race begins simply because there will be no other reference...

It is raining very, very, very, very heavily on the stages right now. There will be lakes on the road tomorrow morning.
Weather will be very cold, morning temperatures will be +13..+14 and afternoo +14..+15.It should be mostly cloudy. There might be some rain on the morning stages but afternoon stages should be mostly without rain. However, without wind (1-2m/s), clouds and cold temperature there is very little chanche that somebody decides to go without soft tyres, maybe Mikkelsen :-P

Dramatic first stage..

No super finale for Loeb... Ogier shows he is still the fastest here.

so "the master" (of hirvonen and solberg) also makes mistakes when he is pushed to it. he was just too comfortable with no compettion when collecting "numbers" some years ago

I can't see Loeb wanting to compromise his reputation by doing an occasional annual come-back. Right now he has some inkling of the way Gronholm and Hirvonen felt when they both cracked under pressure when contesting WDC. That wasn't at stake here but what this rally has shown is how Seb L has now reached a point where there is competition he can't intimidate and his mental edge was half the advantage he always had. Seb is gone, long live the Seb!
