That was in 2008, Noel ;) Now he was running aside the competitive field because of expired homologation for his 206.

Hello, everyone. I'm Eugenio Perea from Rally Mexico.
I'd like to ask you all -if you want to and you're willing to put in the time- to chime in with your comments, criticisms, suggestions and ideas for the future.
It appears we've had a good rally, but there is always room for improvement. We will always have blind spots, and the best way to counter that is to listen to outside observers. You have a uniquely valuable perspective and your opinions would be a fantastic help in our quest for continued improvement.
Thank you in advance!

after all the blah blah blah about the confidence boost hirvonen had with the 2 wins of the season and the big words from the ford kids it all comes down to rumble....
Hirvonen after all these years has yet to prove that he can lead a team and take risks for the win, when conditions demand to be a man he acts like a scared little kid.....pity that Latvala is on a leash.
HE WHO FIGHTS AND RUN AWAY LIVES TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY,MIKO WILL RISE AGAIN :o :D

Keep doing the Rally of Nations on the off year!
Some friends of mine were running one of the USA teams and said it was brilliant and I love the concept!

Oh, we definitely care. Rallying is a big family and ideas are shared all over the world constantly. If you have anything to offer, we're happy to listen.

The Rally of Nations concept worked very well, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. We'd like to do it again, but we'd like the WRC more :) Today's delay of the 2011 calendar by the World Motor Sport Council has probably put on hold a lot of decisions around the world. We'll have to wait and see what happens in April.
A bunch of people from one of the U.S. teams came to spectate this year. I was able to see them only a couple of times, but they seemed to be having fun. If that's them, please say hello and sorry for not being with them more!

Brian, Erika, Steve and others were down there this year, for Rally of Nations, and a couple of years ago as well. I think the only year they skipped was when they decided they were going to drive from Colorado to South America (made it to Chile) and back...
I'll be sure to pass on the note.

One thing you guys could do Eugenio is dig the roads a bit deeper so that Ford stays in pace :)

Well I have followed rallying very intensively since I was 17 years old. I didn't had a chance to come to Mexico but I followed the rally very closely from TV and internet. And I have some recommendations:
1. Your internet page was quite nice but I think that this is the place where you can improve most. During the rally the server for that page was definitely overloaded and it caused the page to run really, really slowly. So, it was really difficult to access to the webcam pictures to see what is going on in service etc.
2. In general I saw a lot of spectators and most of them were placed very well. But still some photographers or cameramen think they are made of iron. Maybe organizers should be more strict with the (and the safety officials). Here is one example between 1:46 and 1:47 on the right side of the road: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyZ6rJXiSx8
3. 3. minutes and 2 minutes starting intervals worked really well. There was nearly no dust for the following cars. I dont know how tight was the schedule but maybe you can design more regrouping areas. When Block, Wilson and Sordo fell out on the same first stage of the loop then really huge caps formed (Practically there was 1 car in 12 minutes) and this might make spectators move from one place to other and then they are usually bit careless. And there were three more stages before regroup.
Otherwise I felt like it was NORF, rally was running so smoothly like it was made by perfect machine :-) And it left really good feeling for me (Everything ra smoothly, hge amount of spectators, good fights in WRC, SWRC and also in PWRC), definitely hope to see Mexico every year in WRC.

Anyone know who drove the Pug 206 WRC in Mexico ? And any photos?! :D
206 was driven by Mexican driver Ricardo Triviño, you can find a few pictures here http://www.rallysport.hu/images/2010/Photo/WRC/02_mexiko/03_vasarnap/index.htm and here http://www.rallysport.hu/images/2010/Photo/WRC/02_mexiko/02_szombat/index.htm

Hey Eugenio you can read my full rally mexico review in the last page and in summary it was a great event, in my opinion the best rally mexico on record. (didnt go to the rally of nations but unless that one was flawless, 2010 has to be the best)
My friend Fri (from Hungary) was in mexico for the first time, and he LOVED the rally the whole organisation/stages/roads/people made a very good impression on him and hopes to go back next year.
I also met a group of 7 people from Belgium (first time in rally mexico as well) and they really liked the rally, they never had troubles and in their opinion the stages were some of the best in the chalendar, however they were very dissapointed about stage 20 being cancelled, because they went throught it on Thursday and according to them it would've been one of the most espectacular stages in the championship. could you tell us why was it REALLY cancelled?
I agree with the website being a little slow but I guess that can be easily solved. Other than that I have only a few complaints.
1-NO SIGNALS TO THE STAGES
Yes, all around leon there are signs pointing towards rally HQ, the SSS and other spots, however once you are heading towards the SS there are NO signs whatsoever, I know some of the stages quite well so I didnt get lost, but for other people it can be tricky. The rally guide gave good directions so it wasnt difficult to find the right way, but a few signs pointing towards the stage would've made a big difference for some people (I think it was 2007 when I saw some signs, what happened to that?)
2-TICKETS
Before the rally I tried to buy my tickets online, but the site wouldn't take my card, so I had to wait until Friday morning to buy them. Lines were long and the people selling the tickets had NO IDEA which ticket offered what or gave you right to do what. A little training would be good. I knew which ticket I wanted so it was fine, but other people were very confused and I saw a few arguments escalate between the tickets people and some very angry people wanting to enter.
3-RALLY ASSISTANTS (HELPERS?)
Dont know what they were called, but they were wearing green shirts and were all around rally HQ. I understand most of them are very young and volunteers (?) but they had NO IDEA where to find anything eg. the street stage, or where the media office was, or even where the toilets were... They should be given a some briefing of some sort before the start of the rally, otherwise they become more burden than help...
other than that, it was a great rally
FELICIDADES!!!

We have to remember Petter had two days of testing in Mexico, we don't know how much he was able to tune his engine for the altitude - and if he did tune it, did he share that with the Citroen team' We don't know.
"But Petter's able to test out of Europe, which is not something the factory teams can do,

Ford can do the same with their privateers.

yeah, they could do the same with Block but feedback from block wouldn't be so valuable as information from PST.

Engine tune up for mexico???
come on, how many years have Ford raced in Mexico, engine development is frozen; what new thing could have they discover with 1 day testing???
For the Fiesta S2000, yeah, that could be a very positive test, but for the Focus 09, which is very close to the 08, ...............hummm

Such an interpretation would result in the circumvention - evasion of legislation.

But that is what You HAVE to do if You want to be successful. You have to find any solution which is not forbidden by the rules and in the same time is better than the one of Your opponent. If You fail in this task, You loose the game. Everyone involved in top-level of sport works that way, Ford also. It's not a righteous fight.

I beg to differ from you, "test out of Europe (no data take for the factory team), which is not something the factory teams can do," and no quibble, please.
Mirek
23rd March 2010, 21:06
It's not a quibble. In Your post You add a bracket which is not part of WRC regulations. Anyway that would be impossible to apply.
67. TESTING
67.1 PERMITTED TESTING SITES
For Manufacturers or WRC Teams registered in the Championship, testing (as defined in Article 2.21)
is permitted:
67.1.1 On a testing site proposed by the Manufacturer or WRC Team and notified to the FIA.
67.1.2 In Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and UK.
67.2 BANNED TESTING
For Manufacturers or WRC Teams registered in the Championship, testing (as defined in Article 2.21)
is banned:
67.2.1 In all other countries.

Group A specifications and belonging to the same family as a World Rally Car, by a team

- For registered Priority 3 drivers, as limited by Article 67.4 of these regulations.
