After Monte they said, dont worry Sweden will be better.
They'd moved their test base to Finland 3 years ago to sort the car on fast gravel (and snow).
And in Sweden... they were worse.
Unbelievable.

I can imagine the test debriefing meetings. Nothing much said & a lot of "Gallic shrugs" - and they wonder why they aren't getting anywhere!
I think they need a good test & development driver that undestands the engineering and can relay to the engineers exactly what's needed on spring/damper rates, suspension geometry and diff settings. I suspect they've never had that and the engineers just fiddle with stuff, get the drivers to drive & see if it's faster.
Maybe if they put Paddon in the loop they'll get a bit further as he, at least, has done some of his own development.

I believe Paddon is more here because of development of Rally2 car. And probably because he may be the only one who could actually bring results with it next year if they will go that route. I just hope that they will not take anything from this car and develop there

“The fact that Toyota is based in Central Finland and that the conditions here are home to them doesn’t make it any easier for us,” Wheatley added.

I wonder what were they doing in Finland then...

depend on how much you want to rely on gossip, i guess.
i don't see any strange or mysterious situation going on at Hyundai. the reason, to me, is very very simple. Company cut the money, as opposite as toyota that keeps investing what is needed in development. hiunday is falling behind as m-sport does every year. and for the same reason.

same apply to hiunday (that's why i nominated m-sport). hyu won more scratch than m-sport, including powerstage. so if that's ok with m-sport, is ok also for hiunday. they (both) just doesn't have the money to keep the developing pace of toyota.
also toyota is the only working on '27 car, that's tells a lot about investment in the sport...
