It wasn’t as cold as this year

For me it seems the drivers are just driving with too low pressure to have more grip with this cold with the very hard base

There is for sure a minimum pressure specified by Hankook. Either M Sport is running even lower or Hankook got their calculations wrong and specified a too low pressure to begin with. It wouldn't be the first time in motorsport that teams are not adhering to the specifications and than run into trouble.

Strange tyre issues for M-Sport. I'd think a good pressure would press the studs into the ice more.

Ander after the first stage of the day, I would have suspected them to have inflated the tyres a bit more to avoid risk.
