Looks like turbo wastegate problems for Neuville. In theory better to have peripheric issues than internal....

Neuville is now around 2 minutes from 10th place. And although there is drivers who lose around 50seconds in front of him to Tanak on every stage, there is still a chance that he could scrape some point or two (if the car will be fixed). But no matter if Tanak win or not, if Neuville score at least 6 points, he will be crowned anyway. But rally isn't over till it's over.
Man Mikkelsen. Lost of words. Again. He really isn't the right one for that car. But I'm afraid he will not be good anywhere. Oh I mean probably only in Rally2 Skoda, but Hyundai will definetely fire him.
Gryazin excellent drive. He is just mastering the stages. And if he win this event he will finish on podium. Pajari great drive too, very calm and really lucky too to have guys behind him with such troubles. I think Solberg is biting his nails at home really hard right now.

Neuville is 7:41 behind Tänak
WRC2 loses about 2km/s to WRC1 in this rally, which makes it realistic for Neuville to gain about 200s tomorrow in 100km of stages.
3m20s gain would place him 8th at the moment. If 2 crews in front of him fall out (quite realistic imo), he would be 6th by the end of Saturday which is 6 points already. Then just cruise on sunday and it's done, plus he would only need to beat Munster to get 1 additional point from Sunday. And all of it is only relevant if Tänak stays ahead and is fast on Sunday. Still a very slim chance for Tänak.Last edited by Päss1928; 22nd November 2024 at 12:31.

Are Neuville's car issues expected to be solved today?
Rally Japan has great looking stages but it shouldn't be last rally in season. Broadcast issues, not good timezone for majority of fanbase, fan-empty stages... I understand last rally makes sense to be outside Europe due to logistics issues of worldwide series but changing Japan and Chile spots would be better, especially that Chile have some of that Wales Rally GB feeling.
