Some Czech fans even say that it is not a rally, but rather a circuit or hill climb race:

Variety. With 4-5 tarmac rallies in calendar, it's good to have some successor to circuit-like Catalunya. Rally wasn't super interesting but wasn't that bad either, I liked saturday stages more. Scenery is nice too, with rally1 cars and small time differences, WRC event could be fun.

for me rallying is going sidways trough corners, this is the reason why i like gravel rallyes more, BUT there are also Tarmac rallyes where you can see some drifts, like Croatia, there are Cuts, there are Jumps, there are Hairpins, i loved San Remo Tarmac Stages, they are great, but i dont like Gran Canarias and also Japan is boring Tarmac, if i want see fast Tarmac driving without Cuts and Jumps, i go and watch Circuit Racing.
Juha Kankkunen: "The speed was o.K., but the corner was to tight"
Marcus Grönholm: "... tell corrado .... three gears are enough..! "

SS9/12 had an elevation change similar to climbing to the Col de Turini. I don't know if that came across in coverage, but it should. Hill climb isn't an insult, although not every stage is like this, but that's the nature of some, and maybe that made the cars look tame? Some of these roads have prolonged tough gradients.
But even so, whoever wants 6 or 13 rallies of identical profile doesn't understand what rallying is IMO. Enjoy what you enjoy, but saying a world or regional championship should not encompass all the roads and driving styles found within it is silly.

Cool to see all the brands on the top 8, not only Skodas hehe. Also, nice run by Armstrong. and its weird to see Hayden losing positions in the end again. The car is good, he is good. whats happening.
bummed for Mcrae not making it to the podium.
great event. always a 'blessing' to watch some rallying without thinking "oh, so few cars. whats going to happen next year? oh these tires are so trashy. ahh we need manufacturers" haha :P

This year's event was also totally dry which isnt always the case. Rain and fog could make it a lot more 'exciting' for those that cant appreciate the skill and precision involved on the dry.

Extensive highlights programme filmed by local tv (Deportes TV Canaria). Good quality action and some unique
overlays of drivers lines in corners:
