First time i read the same article understood engine like you,but if you read carefully doesnt write someting about the reason of retirement at Sardinia.

Another engine failure for Mikkelsen?

It was before a end of stage interview with Mikkelsen yesterday that we were given the engine sound at idle. I heard a strange sound from the engine, and reacted by playing it once more. Sounded like a fanblade that barely hits something.

But if it was something I am sure the techs had picked up on it.

Very strange that he gets engine failiure in two rallies in a row on a Fabia!

Dirtfish says same engine problem as in Portugal.
That's two retirements from big leads. At least the championship isn't a walkover.

Bulacia also retired with an engine issue at least once this year.

Heard some comments after Monte that it might be the new fuel.

They should pause Mikkelsen's season until the new car is available (with totally different engine) Presumably that has been testing solely with the new fuel.

Picked on it in the way he´d retired? Don´t think they´re able to change pistons - or not even allowed, I guess.
