A row over alleged deviation from the prescribed route of a Rally GB chicane could have a significant impact on the result of this weekend's World Rally Championship round....

This morning stages showed what was missing yesterday in that messy chicane: plastic film gathering the bales to form a barrier and large boards instead of tinny arrows.

Two wrongs don’t make a wrigth; it was stupid having penalties in that Argentina barrier as it’d be having them in yesterday chicane. Officials (and fans) with a punitive mind should for once realize that road limits on a stage are different from those in a racing track and rally drivers are supposed to use improvisation as a way to surpass rally roads challenges.

Btw, those calling the roadbook tend to forget that drivers having an off on a stage are actually also not respecting the roadbook indications (and so are those driving around after a spin); sensibly no one asks for their penalty as no one should ask after a minor bale deviation or a bolder corner cut.

Let’s not ruin this fantastic sport.
