Loeb and Neuville in Portugal were running the newly homologated diff that Mikkelsen and Neuville, "validated" on the wet test that was 5-6 days after Chile (a week before Portugal). This is the test mentioned in the interview that you quoted.
Loeb didn't do any test of it. Neuville did and it seemed to work for him in Portugal but not in Sardinia. It didn't seem to work for Loeb in Portugal and not really for Mikkelsen until Sunday in Sardinia either.
Sordo was seemingly running old diff on both rallies.
