    Really curious what happened there. Did they go off and ripped the rear wheels off (would still be a lot of damage) or did it "just fall off"

    The most logic explanation would be they had changed something in the service and forgot to tighten it properly or left bolts out or similar, but who knows...

    I've never really got why VW went and created an R5 when their sister firm Škoda already built a highly-successful one.

    Was it really just to keep the VW Motorsport guys in a job after the WRC pull-out ?

    Other plans for Skoda brand ?

    and VW is much more known brand in world = bigger markets for those cars.

    The amount of work they seem to be putting on to the new facelift version I don't see them leaving R5 project solely to VW anytime soon, unless they have hidden the secret WRC project into a R5 body
