    Never been a big fan of Mikkelsen, but kudos to him for taking an R5 seat for 2017 (atleast for Monte). I'm not sure if all WRC drivers would've been willing to do that.

    It's essential for him to keep in touch with competitive driving and WRC events where all the decision makers are. So smart move from him.

    The Polo is RIP.Don't get your hopes up.Mikkelsen does the right thing.There is no point in spending money on a 16 Fiesta for MC when you can get a paid R5 seat.Have a good showing and if stars align try to get a 17 car for Portugal and onwards.

    I hope that Monte Carlo in a Skoda is a one off and and that I already in Rally Sweden can get on with a VW Polo.
    It depends on the 2017 model of the VW Polo is homologated. If that goes through, it would be very good.
    But then it's obviously also about bringing in sponsorship money to operate it.

    On the other hand, if he gets his rear end handed to him on a plate then drumming up the future support may be problematic
