It will be a scandal if DMack are forced out of the WRC as a team (as well as tyre supplier) because of the introduction of a different control tyre.

Maybe if the worst does happen they could switch to the ERC ?

Another ridiculous idea from the WRC Promoter. They simply have no idea about the sport. They've done the square root of bugger all since they took over; the WRC is as invisible as ever!

Is there a better sound than that of Porsche engined Flat-6 ???

i dont think that they are so stupid to do that.
Malcolm will push not to loose the multi million rent for 1 or the rumored 2 wrc cars at full championship from Dmack.

Not sure how much sway M-Sport will have with the WRC when they will have 4 full Manufacturer Teams in the 2017 Ch'ship.

Two extra (private) WRC cars vs Michelin/Pirelli money ...

It'd be insanely short sighted of the promoter to take that money as I am sure that they know this situation with 4 manufacturers is not going to last forever.

I fear however that they are exactly that... Short sighted. :/

I agree 100%, however Citroen somehow see it differently...

As bloody usual I can't find the story I read on the web anywhere but in a piece about the new C3 or possibly general future Citroen stuff (I'm struggling to remember what made me interested in reading some Shitroen news in the first place) Xavier Peugeot (I think) said something about WRC giving them the presence they need as a brand to appeal to young people etc etc marketing bullshit etc vomit etc.

Surely World RX is better for that right now than WRC and looks like remaining so for a long time yet?

Maybe it depends where you live, here in NZ the WRC has the highest profile its had in years (thanks largely to Hayden Paddon). Still nothing compared to rugby or cricket, but every WRC round does make it onto mainstream sports news to some extent.

I don't think RX does have a higher profile either to be honest - most casually interested people I know (the sort who will see the occasional news article or highlights on tv but not be following times and updates during events or discussing it on forums) know what rallying and WRC is, but if I mentioned rallycross they'd say 'whats that?'

Yeah when I was in NZ back in April Paddon's win made the evening news - pretty sure that didn't happen when Meeke got his first win. I caught Portugal RX at a perfectly sociable time mid week too.

What do my fellow brits think? Since 2003 I think WRC coverage/exposure has been on a decline and probably troughed - most likely because there's no longer a McRae or Burns about which to get excited.

RX on the other hand has live coverage, and very good coverage too, at the same sort of time on a Sunday that people will happily watch an F1 Grand Procession. Sustain that promotion for a few years and petrolheads that aren't necessarily RX fans will be converted - I personally didn't get it until this year and have totally been convinced it's worrh making sure I watch every race weekend.

As AndyRAC put it WRC Promoter has done the square root of bugger all.

There is no way that RX is providing better value or exposure than WRC.

Hell, RX barely even gets covered in actual motorsport publications like Autosport.

    Agreed.

RX has done very well in a small amount of time however.
