I think I've heard this tune before... it's an old song.
I don't get it. I just don't get it, why supposedly democratic governments love it so much going to war. Okay, human lives, they have never cared about those, anyways. What about money then? One thing I know about wars is they are a bloody expensive form of entertainment. Even in the Middle Ages, when wars were the everyday occupation for the ruling class, every king and duke always faced the problem of bankrolling a large bunch of greedy and totally unproductive people called soldiers. Louis the XII, a French king was proclaimed the Father of the Nation by his subjects for, mind you, just not increasing the war tax. He somehow managed to support his armies at the expense of the foreign occupied territories. He was king, though, and did as he pleased. How on Earth do the modern governments get away with turning the taxpayers' dollars and pounds into ammo and offloading those onto the heads of enemies and sometimes civilians, is beyond my understanding.
