    I had the general geography right, but had no idea of the significance. I already Googled and took myself out of the running.

    A guess - is it the highest mountain on an island? as to location I seem to remember it being on one of Canada's islands

    It's not the highest mountain on an island (I don't think, anyways. I would have thought that claim would belong to either Indonesia or the Phillipines).

    Yeah, close enough anfield. Mount Thor, located on Canada's Baffin Island, claims the world's greatest vertical drop at over 4,100ft.
