I'm thinking WRC27 wouldn't be production cars whereas Rally2 are derived from Group A homologated cars. Of course this would only work for a few years if Rally2 is to be replaced also by WRC27.

R1 is not a new name, it's an old name for Rally5.

True. But I always saw everybody calling it "Rally1". Maybe "calling it" R1 is the next JAM

R1 is also a Yamaha which probably isn't a great Rally2.

As an extra question, what happens to WRC2 in 2027? Maybe Rally3 becomes WRC2, which will confuse a few people, like when WRC3 was Rally2.

I can already see the PR team at FIA posting a "Class Restructuring" guide on social media with SuperRally, RallyLites and RallyJunior that nobody will understand or support lol.

Why simply they dont call it like old days. WRC car, rally2, rally3, rally4, rally5, rally6 as it was until this hybrid thing. WRC car should be WRC car. Simple as that

Using R1 as shorthand for Rally1 is natural and only people who after all these years can't comprehend the change of class names get confused or worked up by this.
