No way the organization is going to give him a 6 hour penalty being who he is and what car he drives and where he comes from ;)

The Mini team has filed a claim against Stéphane Peterhansel, current leader of the standings Cars Dakar 2016, Monday night after the eighth stage. Stage cancelled after CP2. Too hot and too difficult dunes???

Today’s stage was expected to be difficult given the profile of the special. The dunes around Fiambala and the hot temperatures promised a tricky day for the competitors. These concerns soon proved to be true and, in light of the high number of competitors already in difficulty, in particular in the bike category, the race management have taken a logical decision. In order to guarantee maximum safety to the entire field, the race will finish at CP2.
seems that the race still on for the cars though since we have times for wp3 and wp4... but i do not know if they count of not.
Hirvonen is the leader now on wp3 and Peterhansel loses 11 mins.
Overall sainz with a lead of 4.30mins over peterhansel and nasser closes at 10, Hirvonen also closes at 30min.
