one of the best stages from Ott in his career IMO.

I think there's been many of those this season, especially most of Friday in Finland, as well as the tricky rainy stages in Germany last year.

Crazy time by Huttunen

AnttiL
26th October 2018, 09:53
I thought funding was the reason he had to stop driving the first one?

The difference is that he owned the car and had his own mechanics. It seemed his car always had defects the M-Sport cars didn't have. Maybe having a some sort of semi-private deal at Citroen or M-Sport is also financially better.

Tarmop
26th October 2018, 09:54
I thought funding was the reason he had to stop driving the first one?

Owning and maintaining a private car was more expensive and harder (testing with the same car, no factory development, not the sufficient amount of spares etc). Balance between the results and money spent wasn`t there, unlike you pay an amount, come with your 2 hands in your pockets and drive.

Essaj
26th October 2018, 09:55

Toyota should have been used Latvala and Lappi to help Ott already earlier on during the season, but with them being both slow and making mistakes, they are not much of a help for Ott, unlike in Ford and Hyundai they have managed to do it. I am actually looking forward to rain. Spanish tarmac can give some boring results since the stages are so similar the stage results are often the same stage after stage. Off course it's not good if some people drive the stage dry and some wet, but as long as conditions are somewhat similar its good for following the rally.

Almost nobody tested on wet tarmac lately (only Latvala did) which will make it even more interesting.

In WRC2 he was very promising before his failed 2016 WRC season, one argument, why Wilson put him in the WRC in the first place. In WRC2 2017, he was 2., but very competitive, had some wins etc. And most definitely VW also wouldn`t hire him for a one-off show-promo event, if he wasn`t up to it. They have pilots available in VAG, including last years champion Tidemand.

Tanak has been very impressive this season when he's in the zone...i'm very happy for him as i remember the rough times he had earlier on in his career. He's now a complete driver in my eyes.
i'm just hoping everything comes together for him in this rally----he needs it to

so far it been a good rally,,,the main group of wrc drivers seem to be relatively closer than i expected up to the end of the morning loop....let's see how the evening goes for everyone

Well, he has in the past years, so lets hope so.

Didn't you know a marshal vest allows you to switch your brain off? See that every rally I've been to (not all marshals of course!).

And yes, thankfully it appears no one was seriously hurt. Surprised, that the driver was pretty keen to do a 'hit and run', even though the marshal was stuck very close to front.
