This looks like Neuville will suffer most, he needs to hang in for a better position tomorrow. No doubt Ott will push hard but keeping the solid 3rd place with no offs should be the priority for the rest of the day. Ogier is unlikely to be first on the road in Mexico, maybe 3rd or 4th,which will suit him.

Can't understand why Bertelli and Greensmith had the extra lights mounted on their Fiestas. There is no reason to risk damaging them. Plus, they come with some aero penalty. Maybe they didn't know how to mount them and preferred the mechanics doing it for them.

Adamo will he dare to ask Loeb to lift the foot for Neuville?
Well ahead of his tenth place on the road, Elfyn Evans scored his second scratch of the afternoon and is back in fifth place after the ES7. Teammate Teemu Suninen remains leader of the event with a reduced lead of 5.0 on Jari-Matti Latvala and 13 on Ott Tanak.
Sébastien Loeb has gone back to 6th. The nine-time champion precedes Kris Meeke and Thierry Neuville, only 8th. Forced to open the road after the abandonment of Ogier, with a reduced aero following the loss of his right front wing and still very few nails, it will be difficult for the Hyundai driver to win more places in the regular . He would be in a very difficult position tomorrow. Will Hyundai then play it tactically and ask his star Seb Loeb not to attack too much in the last stage to let Thierry pass in front of him in the standings and thus trace him tomorrow? Answer in one hour, the start of the 8th special being scheduled at 17:14. (ODW)

Imo it's the tires +tirewear.
R5 have new tires with longer studs and are less likely to loose them due to less power and speed in corners. All together it adds to much more grip for them in this stage.

Fun fact: Car #72 @torn_ken / @sikkkuldar arrived at the stop control of SS5 @RallySweden without the co-driver
Background: the car went off 600m before the FF and after it was pulled back to the road, the road was too narrow for the co-driver to get into the car again.

Did you hear the comment? Lappi not being in slush could be the meaning, in which case it’s worked perfectly. Obviously Lappi and Evans being ahead of Neuville is in Ogier’s favour. The plan seems to have been successful. Remember the Gorbachev rule -All that is not expressly forbidden is allowed:)

The plan seems to have been successful.
The plan was to deprive others from benefit of Ogier's sweeping. If it improved Ogier's own time is inconsequential as he's too far down to have any effect. Lappi's position didn't change except maybe mentally if he believed that team is supporting him (which I have my own opinion of). Thus, saying that their plan was to help Lappi was half-truth, if you will.
