JM try to get powerstagepoints. I think it´s very hard 4th on road..

5 best will get points and believe some infront of him could drive "safely"

No, with special glue/rubber seal with wires inside, so you warm it up, put the windscreen on and then disconnect the power so it cools down and keeps the windscreen. Opposite way - to remove the windscreen - you heat up the seal, it melts so it's easy then to remove the windscreen... Mercedes road car product. Some teams use same seals for rear side windows, etc. You can see black battery booster next to right front wheel of Bertelli car on that picture, they used it to remove the window.
If you have broken windscreen you can have 3 mechanics who can remove and clean and put new one during regrouping/parc ferme before the service. Usually (if it's regrouping before the service) you just remove the broken windscreen, clean everything and then put new one in service place.
didn't know this new method, thanks Bartek!

Maybe the Yaris needs really thick cold air to run properly. Bodes well for Argentina, not so for anywhere else.

Latvala yesterday:
"We tried to collect data, that is the most important thing. A little bit of experimenting too: how to save the tyres"
"We try to learn the tyres. We were hoping the rain but it didn't come"
"We have managed to finish the day & it's the most important part. It's been a difficult day but we try to improve tomorrow"

So after the first proper rally of the season conclusions are pretty much the same as it were during testing, the only difference is that Hyundai is the best car by far. maybe due to setup and driveability rather than engine performance.

The citroen is a very good car but is hindered by the usless driver choices they made, instead of having a solid team of 2 drivers and snatch Mikkelsen they went and wasted a car on Lefebre who is nothing. And lefebre has no future at all which is good for the sport but the autistic citroen team are wasting the potential Breen might have by reducing his competitive Kms.

The ford are very solid but Ogier does not seem very comfortable in it, we will see how it goes. Tanak is god, all praise Tanak !!!

The amateur village team is just that an assortment of paper amateurs and it shows. Lets see if they change the team management mid season and probably improve rather than being ridiculed like that.

The pain has just begun... kids.

So, the C3 showed some speed after all (at least in Meeke's hands). But as long as Ogier is able to control the pace and be consistently on the podium, he won't be much troubled. Yaris was not good at all. Both cars 4 minutes behind the leader. As for Hyundai, they were able to get some good Manufacturer's points, which were needed.Evans and Tanak, once again, doing their best. Both have come leaps and bounds ahead of the disastrous 2015 campaign.

To the Yaris Defence, they did expect a poor performance this weekend and a lof of it is down to thecnical issues.

Sure, the pace wasn't blinding the times they were trouble free, but it wasn't horribly off either.

The biggest plus for me was the Citroen's performance once road conditions were equal. To me that means it isn't off the pace as we believed after the last two rallies.

I was watching Meeke on LIVE during last kms of power stage and I was thinking, how many people is wishing him the win and on same time how many people is worry at the screen for him not to make a mistake on very last moment. He didnt disappointed...

I was amongst the 3rd group, that doing something wrong is inevitable. But was hoping the best for him anyway, probably the 1st had more weight on the scales.

What were they thinking letting people park there though, pretty sure it was blocked off last year due to many moments in that corner.

What a rollercoaster of emotion watching that stage was, never experienced anything like it. Live stages make for this great TV

The luckiest man on planet Earth tonight, it has made up for all the unlucky days he's had. Clean slate now for the rest of the championship but unfortunately Meeke still has a lot of ground to make up. Too much in my opinion as he is too inconsistent which is the pity.

But in fairness.....he does make things bloody interesting!! Never a dull moment. Just like his mentor.

Summary:

Meeke - did very good. However he got a decent lead just from the road position alone which meant he could drive without pressure. When pressure was there (Power Stage) he almost binned it again. Also his performance is very much what he did last year on the gravel rallies where he had good start position. So not really convinced how there is any chance of WDC challenge. First time Citroen has shown pace comparable to the other cars over more stages.

Ogier - stable performace. Still doesn't look very comfy in the car. Specially on SS.

Neuville - Measured performance. Car trouble on chocolate put him behind and imo on saturday he just decided (for once) to play safe. Or he simply couldn't drive fast on saturday due to confidence issues ( seen that last year).

Tanak - okish, had nothing to fight for most of the weekend

Paddon -quite dissappointing imo, seemed slowest of the i20s whole weekend... on his best surface.

Sordo - very surprised by his performance. Sure he had nothing to loose, but beating the other two cars consistently is impressive.

Toyota - disaster, though probably not so surprising given their lack of experience in Mexico. Their post-Sweden talk about going for manufacturers champ. looks totally funny now.

Lefebvre - no pace and crash, gl in manu champ. Citroen.

I agree, he was just comfortable in most stages, when came down to PS, clear overdriving the car, sliding all over the place, and it came to (almost) disaster.

Ogier - stable performace. Still doesn't look very comfy in the car. Specially on SS.

Agreed. Not yet as 1 in 1 as with VW, but he can always take the most of every situation - the champion.

Neuville - Measured performance. Car trouble on chocolate put him behind and imo on saturday he just decided (for once) to play safe. Or he simply couldn't drive fast on saturday due to confidence issues ( seen that last year).

Safe mode for him whole rally, nothing special, solid points.

Tanak - okish, had nothing to fight for most of the weekend

Same as Neuville. Friday had lost a lot, played safe, but still fast times, somewhat impressive. He will progress in the season.

Toyota - disaster, though probably not so surprising given their lack of experience in Mexico. Their post-Sweden talk about going for manufacturers champ. looks totally funny now.

I can't agree here. Toyota is taking the most of each rally so far, results and data. The only thing stopping them fighting in the top at the end is the weak driver line-up (except the "new" Latvala of course).

I wouldn't be so harsh. From leg1 road position he got a 15 second advantage/lead. On leg 2 with equal road position he increased the lead by another 10 seconds. I'd agree with you about road position advantage, if the entire leg1 had been run and he would had got a 40 second lead from the gravel stages.

You can see the car was the owner's baby. With plastidipped rims and decals, tinted windows, etc. the nicest car on the lot. He's partially at fault for parking so close to the road. I'm always astounded at the stupidity of spectators standing on outside of corners but apparently the organizers aren't much smarter allowing spectator presence there.

This is my first post so let me introduce myself. My name is Kris (Krzysztof to be exact). I'm Polish and have spent the latter half of my life living in the States. Been following rallying since the 90's with Holowczyc and his group A Toyota Celica and later Subaru Impreza followed by Janusz Kulig's ERC performance until his unfortunate death in 2004.I was aware of WRC since early 2000s. Skipped majority of the Loeb's era as I didn't find it interesting and came back to it with Kubica's appearance at the WRC stage. Love playing rally games on PC with ColinMcRae 2005 being my first and most played game back in the day. I currently have RBR installed in multiple versions and Dirt Rally. Even though it's too late for a full fledged rally career I'd love to take part in a few local rallies at some point in my life, time and money permitting ;)
After Kubica's departure I started cheering for Kris Meeke (he's been a good friend of Kubica and always spoke warmly of him, he's also been involved in the development of Dirt Rally and I hope he'll be able to make the game as close to the real thing as possible). I like the Hyundai's performance thus far as well minus the luck they've had.

Congrats to Meeke. I'm glad he won.

Seems that Meeke was maybe paid by Corona, and Coca Cola.. one way to explain his detour to their tents :P

I remember from the past that Citroen has been almost always one step forward in high altitude Mexico, this time as well. So, we see in next rounds how the difference is, however, with each rally, MSport and Hyundai should run faster and more safer as they have one more or at least two more cars covering the stages and getting milage.. well, Citoren basically had only one car for half of the event here. Well, I still do not understand, Why it is so hard to call Qassimi, ask a few more millions, then call to Mikkelsen and make sure that they are able to contend for Manufacturer championship as well? Currently they have one first driver, very risky driver and two third drivers, for some reasons, they have forgotten that number 2 excists as well..

Someone was saying that Sordo was setting his times with clear overdriving, I watched Estonian footages of three days and he had his share of luck and also on the powerstage, he was all over the place, but it was still good to see him driving fast and enjoying. Seems that after 10 minutes penalty, he was advised to show how fast Hyundai is.. So, he drove 110 % all the time. Really looking forward to Corsica!

Seems that MSport had rather clear strategy for this event.. after overheating problems, they found that Ogier is in a position to catch the win and Ott drove in safe pace to collect points and make sure at least one MSport car is on the podium. Startegy worked really well! Win was just a spin away :P By the way, Ogier´s spin was also rahter lucky one, ina very narrow place, could have ended like Lefebre.

Helicopter footage, looks like there was a huge amount of spectators on powerstage, cars parked everywhere!

Agreed that he wasn't as fast as expected, but to be fair he was sitting in 3rd before the car problems and then in 5th with big gaps both sides of him there was no reason for taking any risks, just safe driving to bring home the points.

Apparently had some more car problems which stopped him having a better crack at the power stage, but he didn't say what the issue was.

So far, every rally this year has the potential to go to the history books:

Monte Carlo for the treacherous conditions, the new car debut and Neuville's loss becoming Ogier's surprise win in a new team.

Sweden for Toyota's comeback win and Citroen's disaster.

Mexico for what we all had the privilege of witnessing.

It's funny how some never learn. Or do some countries breast feed their childfen pessimism from a young age?

A couple of weeks ago the pitchforks were out and farewell letters for Citroen and Meeke were ready according to this Forum. Today, they stand on top of the podium and all is well. Right?

At the same time some are calling for Toyota-village team to just give up because they didn't win in Mexico - when at the same time as stated above, they won their first event in only two rallies since 1999, with a totally new team, new car and some very late decisions. "But them snowy finnish village idiots lucky hurr durr". A manufacturer wanting to win the manufacturers championship!? Oh hell no!...hurr durr

This is awesome - this is rally.

I'm just going to leave this here:

That's a nice fairytale, but did You watch the PS? It was disaster.

If you do something, then something is bound to happen. It's logic. Even Ogier has spins, when he is going at it.

well some useless dogs believed that yaris was a good car and that paper champion team was a good team after the 2 most worthless rallies of the season.

Thats why you need to filter dogs from people.

If you expect all online media content to be free from now on, be prepared for some half-assed, piss-take products that make you wish you had subscribed to even WRC+.

Ogiers second place in jeopardy?
The gearbox is in question. Has been sealed for further checks at FIA.

Truth has been spoken!
This tendency is so damn annoying...

Anyone can have a bad weekend and in the long run it will all pan out anyway. Keep watching and by germany/finland we will have a fair idea of the general pace of the individual cars... which isn't even consistent over different types of events as we have seen all the previous years, but somehow everyone have already forgot that.

That would be a major upset... not that I like Ogier much but let's hope not for the sport. It is never nice when the sport is decided by these things.

Yeah... Just ask Marcus Gronholm about Portugal 2007, when he lost 3 crucial points in the championship.

When Meeke won in Argentina, he said "This one is for Colin". I'm sure Colin now would say "Kris, this one is for you" :)

Meeke his mistake was bigger than both Neuvilles mistakes together... Still Meeke won and Neuville was was out twice. So Meeke was really lucky or Neuville very unlucky. Championship standings could have looked completly different!

That doesn't solve Simmi's issue.
Look at the first reply on twitter: "Making me login just to watch a clip - nope. Social media fail."
That guy is right. No reason to make people login or open an account to watch a clip going around social media for free in the meantime.

WRC+ has huge potential but it's a bad product if you think it should represent the way to follow the world championship of the most beautiful motorsport in the world.

Rally's popularity is in stagnation, so it must become easily reachable, promoter must pay big media portals to mention it. Hiding the scarce content in paid access NEVER brings new followers, it only lowers your existing followers morale.

Stop with that Mikelsen already. You honestly expect him to suddenly come out of nowhere and begin winning with a new car, just because of some one-off good drives at the end of last season?! It won't happen.

Hanninen class!

On this rally I managed to avoid all the trees as well, so it’s good to see that even at my age I can still learn some new things! Although I did notice that a left-hand mirror was broken, so maybe I didn’t get away with it completely…”

I think that's for the corner after the one he went off.

"5 Right plus over bump opens for 120 be neat this time" is the call for the corner.
