N.O.T is probably too busy protesting against the stupid Euro-countries giving aid and demanding budget cuts for Greece :)

Al-Rahji is starting to impress me. Assumed he was more money than talent but starting to gather speed.

I also liked his driving during Wales Rally. He definitely is not another rich driver as I initially thought he is

The positive is that he had Jean-Joseph to teach him. ;)

WRC Rallye d'Alsace 2012 - Crash, Novikov makes popcorn [HD] By Devillersvideo - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5thRuQ9hMTM&feature=share)
Did anyone counted how many times Novikov was off during this rally? 1. U-turn, 2. Jari-Matti corner, 3. Popcorn corner 4. roll corner.. any more? That shows how important is the safety (gravel) crew. at least three of those off could have been avoided I think.

The place where he went into the corn could not really be predicted as slippery by the gravel crew, nobody really cutted there on recce, also just before first run it must have been clean. We drove the stage on thursday before, everyone who knows something about rally could see that the corner is made to cut, if you're for example 10th on the road you know that 9 guys should have cutted it already so it would become one big mess... I was there in 2nd run and 1/3 of the drivers went into the field. About the other places I can not disagree.
Well, just before the corner there was a lot of water. Rain started on the previous night already and more rain in the morning. It looked to me that he loosed the car on the standing water already. Such places are usually noted by safety crew.

Street fighting with police is now a full-time job in Greece. Just imagine how much it takes to make a good Molotov cocktail and you need them by the dozen when things hot up in a clash. I always thought N.O.T. is a tough lad and I wouldn't want to announce him a pay cut. :D

He had a gravel crew though. Clearly it was of no help.

Hayden Paddon's off as viewed from the onboard camera is on his facebook page. Such a simple thing causes so much dissapointment for any other time one would expect to get away with it.
Yeah, really tragic. Hayden is not a tourist, he has worked very hard to put together a programme coming from a small country, and is very fast. But two mechanicals and an off and he's out of the running this year. He has been the fastest SWRC by far on the stages that his car has actually run - I'd guess 60-70% of them - and he hasn't had a single rally ending driver error in like three years until now. I hope somebody's watching the SWRC stage times this year in a search for a driver to sponsor (or hire for a team!).

I don't know what you think, but mads impressed me this week end. I start to really like him. Challenging neuville which has more experience in tarmac, it's quite good. I guess having him a factory driver next year will be a big gamble, but i really hope we will see him again. also because he always says something funny or stupid at the end of stages... i think neuville is quite boring, sorry for his fans.

Plan9: Yes I think so to but I think that the Protons do not have same speed as the Fabia and Fiesta sadly. I think that PG had drove much much faster if he had compete in a Skoda or Ford...
But it will be a great fightin Spain! :)
Breen at 93p and PG at 91p! :)

He's a very lucky boy to finish after that - didn't realise it was such a severe impact. Lucky not to damage suspension or steering at all, or anything when the back of the car crashed down too. Malcolm wouldn't be a happy bunny if JML and Petter had both retired again!

You are on the spot. Mads is one of the precious few in the WRC worth listening to. I know him as an intelligent, funny and decidedly very socially likeable guy. What he has done this year is impressive and very smart, with keeping the car on the road in all rallies and collecting podiums and lots of points. Actually he has had two big offs this year, but the have both come in national rallies in Norway and the Czech Republic. So he has been trying out the margins in lesser important events and not pushed over the limit in WRC. He is not very experienced with tarmac, but his stagetimes in France shows that he is getting much better. And the fight for fourth place with Neuville (a tarmac specialist) the last day in France shows that he is not afraid to challenge the more experienced guys.

Plus the accident in Rally Bohemia was more a little stupid mistake with a bad result than something from overdriving. Such things just happen from time to time.

Its not plus. Rally Bohemia is one of the two offs I referred to. The other was a major one in norwegian championship Aurskog/Holand Rally in june. But as long as he keeps his (very few) mistakes out of WRC, its more than acceptable. Quite a few of the other young drivers are definitely much more accident prone than Mads, without being faster than him. I saw in one other thread someone mentioning that Mads Østberg would become the new Henning Solberg. Mads has of course already exceeded H. Solberg in everything he has achieved, and in much shorter time.

A bit misunderstanding :) The plus was referring to the kind of accident - as an additional info. I didn't mean it's another one. Sorry for confusion.

Jeezuz! If it didn't damage the car and freak the mind of those that have to see, I'd almost say about the idiocy "Easy come, easy go" they don't care if they live or die, why should we?---except all the harm done to the sport....
