Ralio+ :: Home (http://www.ralio.co.uk/default.aspx?locale=en)http://www.s4c.co.uk/clic/c_level2.shtml?series_id=506052044Loeb chooses to start 3rd

Having been fastest in qualifying Sebastien Loeb, the eight times FIA World Rally Champion, was rewarded with first choice among the top 14 seeds. The record breaking Frenchman opting for third spot in his quest to add a fourth victory in Wales.

"There might be a little bit of rain but not so much," he explained. "When it's raining it's a lot better to be in front. If it's drier then it's not good to be first so we have chosen third. We don't always have the perfect weather information but I don't think it will be cleaning so much."

Ford star Petter Solberg was next to make his selection with the Norwegian picking to follow in the champion's wheel-tracks in fourth position. "For sure I was covering what Sebastien was doing," admitted Petter. "I was thinking he would take number two and I would be number three but when he went three I thought maybe I would go one or two back. I want to beat him, he will be the fastest and that's why I chose number four so I am right behind him."

Solberg's team-mate Jari-Matti Latvala won Wales Rally GB in 2011 - he will start from fifth position while Matthew Wilson, Britain's main hope for home success, lines up in ninth spot.

The action kicks off early on Friday morning at 8:13am with a 12.5-mile blast through Dyfnant forest. Only then will the drivers find out if they made the correct decision.

De tog sig i mål med sedan var det kört.

Chris Atkinson performance here is painfull.

It's strange, because the guy was so better than Armindo but can't do better than Armindo with the Mini :D

Nice fighting in the lead, hope JML dont' do the usual mess in any stage. Hirvonen is out of the battle. Mads Ostberg is doing a great rally.

Petter needs to find some speed, only 5th fastest in this morning loop. Even worse for Mikko 7th fastest...

Solberg told WRR has some setup issues with lowered suspension. It should be fixed the afternoon.

Østberg with very heavily worn tyres."I've paid for them, so I might as well use them..." :)

Tyre choice will be interesting in the second loop.

Tyre choice will be interesting in the second loop.

Definitely as the road might dry out, might not. I don't know how much softs they left, so perhaps most will use hards and soft spares.

How many and what types of tyres are allowed in GB?
Up to 35 tyres. 30 soft and 22 hard tyres.
Plenty of them

Real shame. Yesterday they had a completely wrong setup, today started a lot better already.

Kevin Abbring: SS9: unbelievable... Did a really steady drive towards finish, 500m before finish, rock in racingline, TCA off, done for today... Were able to get it after finish of the stage but don't have the right parts. Back tomorrow...

"Mads Ostberg is just 12.2s behind Loeb, and along with fellow M-Sport drivers Ott Tanak and Evgeny Novikov made history in Crychan as they combined to win every sector split of the stage - the first time this has been done by privateer drivers. Ostberg won the stage overall."

This stat from autosport. Any stat experts know if this is right? Would have guessed Petter won all the splits in at least one stage while he was in his private team.
