The big question is how competitive the Polo will be... I doubt they are going to be at Citroens and Fords standards straight out of the box, although something like that would be very good for the championship.

yes i fed up when somebody asks, and while you answer him he says that my answer is ironic. Are you doing the same?
About the Fords vs Citroens difference due to braking fade is very clear if you watch splits and drivers comments.
At first stage without brake problems they lost more while was bigger and with plenty of junctions.
Except that you think that if Fords had braking problems at a 23 km stage the difference would be 4 and 2,8 seconds from Loeb without problems?

What are you trying to say all the time? That the grass was greener back then? Yes, it was, we all know...
Was oil flammable in 1970'? Yes, it was even in 1920...
Was brake liquid flammable in 1970'? Yes, it was even in 1920...
Was exhaust hot? Yes, it was even in 1920...
Was debris of tyre/rim able to damage brake liquid pipes? Yes, it was even in 1920...
etc. etc.
Shall we ride horses? But you can fall down and hurt Yourself You know...
Thanks Mirek...nicely put =)

About the Fords vs Citroens difference due to braking fade is very clear if you watch splits and drivers comments.
At first stage without brake problems they lost more while was bigger and with plenty of junctions.
Except that you think that if Fords had braking problems at a 23 km stage the difference would be 4 and 2,8 seconds from Loeb without problems?
I have no doubt about that, is obvious. I only can't understand in wich part of that logic enters the moment when Loeb start looking at the splits.

rhetorical and irony are Greek words.Dont try to explain to me.
Actually there is a difference irony -> ειρωνεια in modern greek is synonymous to sarcasm in English (thus Dims reaction).
A rhetorical Q is a question which answer is self evident to the audience.

That i know, never was a fatal crash with the S1. But the S1 was not very used, there were a few cars running, many less than Ford, Lancia and Peugeot. Even Audi only made 5 or 6 rallyes with this car, because they retired before the half of the 1986 season.

One point. In the IRC Wiegand is using Juka Motorsport Fabia on Reiger suspension and in all occasions of this season he was at least a bit faster than Gassner. Now he is running the VW Motorsport one on Sachs suspension and he is slower. Maybe he just needs to get used to the different setup and different WRc tyres with which Gassner has much more experience but at least it's interesting...

Interesting that Atkinson on a 25km stage only beats Ogier by 4 seconds. Altough I believe Armindo is not WRC material, this does in fact indicate that either Motorsport Italia is a rubish team or the car is a complete waste of resources.
There are some rumours floating around that Armindo is trying to rent a VW for next year.

Rallye Deutschland, full of surprises!
Loeb has won as usual. JML looks like hes punching well above his weight, and when the inevitable happens, Petter will pick up the pieces, if he does well, in second place. Mean while, Mikko leaves the handbrake on(They should have had him blindfolded since NORF and they hope that he thinks he is still in Finland). I miss Ogier, and Mini fighting at the front. Dani and Atko(different teams I know but still good drivers) look like they are struggling.
On the upside, Neuville is looking promising, and I am pretty impressed with Tanak. Ostberg isnt setting the world on fire at the minute, I know its not his preferred surface, but he will need to learn to take stage wins if he is to be a future world champion.
WRC is looking like a test for the promising younger drivers, thats where the entertainment is IMO, the fighting at the front is a little bit too predictable. :hot:

Interesting that Atkinson on a 25km stage only beats Ogier by 4 seconds. Altough I believe Armindo is not WRC material, this does in fact indicate that either Motorsport Italia is a rubish team or the car is a complete waste of resources.
All of you will give me credit in a few weeks. Just wait for the nex rally.
In Germany, looking deep, Atkinson is having a decent perfomance. But in Wales things will be tought to him.
The cars on MSI are crap, and i already explained why. Is a shame that the Prodrive mechanic that was around the forum was not able to speak...

Why the hell Neuville and Sordo and Atkinson didn't stoped? With a car in flames in front of him and he didn't stoped? Unbelieveble...
Is this kind of drivers that we have on WRC?!?

they could offer their fire extinguishers... at least that!! maybe if they all stopped they could stop the fire...
with everything that's been happening recently in rallying I can't imagine seeing that scenario and continue driving like there's nothing wrong...
one day it could be my car on fire...

You guys ever heard of CAR INSURANCE ??? it Works !!!
Marshals, Signs like yellow flags, SOS ects are in rallying for a reason.... I see nothing wrong for a driver to continue after seeing an incident in an area full of people and marshals and no indication to stop... If Prokop was in an area with no people around or marshals then ok i would expect them to stop and i am sure they would...but given the circumstances they did the right thing.
if every driver stopped to check every incident i doubt we were going to have a single stage run in the History of the sport...

I am confident that the passing crews would have been very concerned but you can not expect them to dismantle their on-board extingusher system and use it like it was a hand held variety.
The other issue that raises it's head is that once one has used their extingusher/s they cannot continue in the event until they have been replaced.
And finally the crew was out of the car and they did not request assistance thats really is the end of it no matter how ones emotions may feel about it at the time.

Prokop's co-driver signaled Sordo to continue, I guess marshals have told Neuville and Atkinson to do the same. In this situation, they can't help with anything, even with their fire extinguishers. Fortunately modern car's tanks are secured enough, so the car didn't blew up and everybody are ok.

I believe the regulations dictate that a driver only has to stop and offer assistance if a crew asks for it by way of a signal. The co-driver usually goes back into the stage on foot and gives a signal as to whether assistance is needed or not. If the team does not request assistance, drivers coming through the stage are under no obligation to stop.
