09:44 Skid and stall for Latvala in SS12
Jari-Matti Latvala explains why he lost time, completing 5.8s down on Loeb in 18m44.9s: “There was a really muddy section, I thought the mud had stopped and went harder, then I went straight on at a 90 left and went down an access road. Then I stalled the engine briefly.”

One team, maybe ford (who knows???), with latvala & tanak it will have lack of exprerience. I prefer latvala & ogier to be in Ford next year. Also a bucket in Stobart will be a very nice office for Tanak.

from Petter Solberg Facebook Page

"Petter and Chris were forced to retire on the roadsection before the first stage of the day, with a damaged fuel pipe. Leaking fuel caused a fire. Both Petter and Chris are OK. They are now on their way back to the servicepark."

wrc.com: Mads Ostberg was alerted prior to the stage start that Petter Solberg, with whom he was battling for the final podium spot, had failed to start the run after his Citroen suffered a broken fuel pump on the road section heading to the test.

“I struggled to focus through the stage,” said Ostberg. “I took it steady with no risk, I will have to drive with more pace now.”

Difficult for Mads to pace himself during the rest of the rally, as he really wants this podium. To far away from Loeb/Lavala and no noone threatening him from behind. But he certainly can`t risk losing his focus...

ok

But instread of Loeb-Hirvonen in Citroen and Sordo-Meeke in Mini, ford with Latvala and Tanak will have less experience than the others. Especially if we take into account the fact that vw will hire p.Solberg and Hanninen, then for sure Ford will have boys in team.

For how much longer ford will be school for young drivers. For this reason , there is Stobart.

If Breen wins all unrunned stages then they are split on points. So 1 SS win must be taken away from him :)

Seems like D-Mack tyres lack durability. It's maybe 2nd or 3rd stage where Ott Tanak starts really well, posting fast times, but towards the middle and the end of stage he steadily loses pace. And I doubt it's because of his own driving.

the only stage which is absolutely the same is Myherin and in 2010 Loeb was fastest with 15:16.5 on the second pass....this year Latvala was fastest with 15:44 on the first pass (on the second he did 15:57), so you can see that the conditions changed the speed of the stage a lot. i doubt last years cars are that fast.....

GB and generally muddy rallies are a very bad reference.... depending on the rains through the season the gravel is competely different....

Sweet lamb was a bit longer this year and Hafren a bit shorter....

on hafren although it was longer the 2010 cars were a lot faster as well...but again very bad reference. For example last years times were improving on the second pass this year they are a lot slower than the first...

Awesome weekend in the forests! Only downer was the sh*te access roads for speccies in Clocaenog. Absolutely awful. My mate and I both whacked the underside of our cars all the way along it on the 3 miles out of it. Masssive walk too.

Thursdays access road knackered my spectating, holed exhaust/damaged rear valance meant no more watching...it was shocking worst i've seen in 30 years

Was that on the way out? sorry to hear Brynmoor. The organisers need to be told about the Clocaenog spectator car parks, i'm sure we're not the only ones. Absolute disgrace. On the 'carparks' for Cambrian the roads have always held up, but there was 20 times more cars on the WRC.

What a total farce that they allowed Sweet Lamb to run... Poor effort by marshals who didn't slow the cars down, as that dug up bit of road was literally a car breaker. $1000s of damage done to a lot cars, really a good $10,000 for some. Even worse that measures weren't put in place to do something such as yellow flag the jump to get them to slow down (its what was done in WRC Australia and I'm guessing other places, when there are parts of the stage blocked). Role of 000, 00, 0 cars and everything in between is that of a Course Checker. They have really failed in their role here, as they should have made a better call on the section and told the Stage Commander that they needed that section to be heavily cautioned.

horrible conditions, and the marshals 'efforts' were a disgrace, unbelieveable how little they tried to slow them, on a local rally I was marshalling at a few years ago I had a similar situation, my 2nd stage ever marshalling, no training what to do in a situation like it so I stood in the middle of the road in clear view and flagged the guys down to 20/30mph and then let them pass, saved a lot ££ that day even if it did upset some speccies

It's nice to be enthusiastic but sometimes it's also good to add some sense of reality. For sure great victory for JML but it will be much harder when the French have something to fight for.

They stopped produce talents capable for WRC titles for some time now...their only hope is Latvala...apart from him all the rest are media/contract champions every year.

finish tears are tasty though...

Yes that´s true. But we saw that in WWII that french can´t fight anything...they lost their country like a those famous sick dogs.

Finns are being provoked here no matter what Finnish drivers do - win or lose. Yes - that comment you reported was below the belt, but also from inexperienced forumer who have had his tongue firmly in cheek since post one. However, it seems to be fuel for some certain forumers' strange fantasies to put emotions and thoughts on our minds, of course without any concrete or factual base. Had Mikko Hirvonen won the championship in GB the way it could've happened, I would've felt ashamed for the sport just as any other decent rally fan, be it German, Welsh, French, Czech, Greek or Croatian. But please let me enjoy a bit on Latvala's first and last victory of the season.

Now if you read this between the lines as "tasty finish tears" (sic), I'll just take a break and leave you to it. You don't need me for that.

Teemu, please don't search in my words things I never said. I reacted on one single post which I consider unacceptable. It doesn't matter who wrote it. I really don't care about a flag at someone's name.

If You mean why I don't react same to some other posts on forum, it's probably because authors of them are already on my ignore list and I don't see that.

Mirek, most of my above post was addressed to all forumers and especially those that keep provoking for something imaginary. I quoted you only because it pictured this particular episode the best. I know you better, as you know, and please don't get offended.

I was not surprised when Loeb crashed on the road section , he was driving like a ****ing idiot all saturday on the road sections . We were by a stoplight over a 1 lane bridge and he comes down the outside flat as and near hit a VW the had the right of way.
