Obviously Prokop have problems and Hänninen caught him on stage near the end and lost some time in the dust...
Why is Loeb still leading the rally after his 15 min time penalty?
What is the deal with this.. cant find any info about why so many cars clocked into TC4C 15 min early.

Have you noticed that Mikko very often looses lot of time from the last split to the finnish.
I noticed it in Swedish Rally and I've been wondering why.
Maybe his right ankle gets tired :)

11:17 Loeb guards lead over opening loop
Sebastien Loeb heads into the service park with a bigger lead than he started the morning with. Mikko Hirvonen now leads the chasing pack, 35.4s behind...
As I expected Loeb can still lead despite running first.
I hope Mikko can get 2nd as he deserves to beat Ogier and his tactics.

Hanninen only 5 secs behind Wilson. Tanak 50 secs ahead of Wilson. we may see more of this on the more difficult events.
So another fire. This time it was Prokop with fire of power-steering oil. It's third Fiesta just here in Sardegna (Henning, Turan, Prokop).
Looks good for a 1-2-3 citroen.....

Maybe we should let Wilson start in sWRC with his Fiesta WRC, then he could be competitive.

Or the FiA Academy.....before he retires because the car let him down. The Academy cars are a joke....
I thought most of the Academy retirings were because of driver error. I know Reeves lost an oil filter on road section
Breen broke a sump, Černý broke a front lower arm after hitting a stone in the rut. I know only about Henriksson going off yesterday. You may call most of those retirements drivers mistakes but such things happen when You drive down the field and the road is reasonably damaged.

That's a fair call. Breen has had some tough luck, needs to get some results to be noticed. Same for the Aussie Reeves
no risk run until the end of the day now....only tactics for the 3 that battle for the 2nd place.

Great job by Sordo and MINI (IMHO)
Jesus christ Wilson is slow!
Really ?? no kidding.....
Great job by Sordo and MINI (IMHO)
yes the mini is a positive surprise....they have the speed to challenge the lesser ford team and be ahead of the privateers easily. The Citroens are the best and difficult to reach though. Pity Meeke had all these tech issues otherwise he would be well ahead of ostberg and he could put some pressure on the fords.
Sordo also problems with throttle. Prodrive guys need to have a look on this issue...

Having talked the Mini down before, I'm delighted to be proved wrong so far. And regarding Meeke's all-too-brief performance, it is all the more impressive given his own lack of experience at this level, to say nothing of how new the car is.

Of course any can win in power stage,but....
Loeb haven t got a reason to spoil a win(well if he is 1st..)while he is first in overall standings for the championship
Ogier hasn t show in Sardinia the raw speed as in previous rallies. But he has to close the gap specially if he is 3rd or 4th on Sunday.
Latvala haven t got to loose something as his only chance to leave Sardinia with points is the power stage.Rightly as you said is the only one who can save tyres, and the fastest driver last 2 days.
Mikko? While in previous rallies wasn t so fast he could drive extreme fast at power stages.Surely we can t ignore him.
My predictions?
Latvala,Mikko,Ogier for 3,2,1 points.
i would not bet on latvala for the power stage....mikko ogier Loeb and solberg are fighting for 3 days and are in the spirit of the rally...latvala doesn't. we will see tommorow.

I expect Ogier to lose the 3rd spot to Petter. With JML out of contention, Citroen will want to score big point for the manufacturer championship. The difference in point between 3rd and 4th does not make taking extra risk very interesting. Mikko will probably hold the 2nd spot.
I am not a big fan of Mikko, but let's face it, he is 2nd in the championship, not that far from Seb Loeb. But it looks like he will be always be missing that little thing that can put him to the top.

That depends on what source you are relying, on WRC.con the difference is 5.8 sec, on vysledky it is 1.3 sec and on Ewrc it is 0.4 sec. The difference seems to come from stage 10, where they have different time for Mikko.

It must be 5,8 sec. Mikko´s time on the SS 10 was wrong and are now corrected. He was Monte Lerno´s second fastest 8,7 sec behind Latvala´s fastest time...
Anyone kind enough to post a web stream address for the power stage?

Yes, you are right, they have changed it now on Czech sites. ;)
That will be a little too big gap to close on 8 kms for Petter.

I would be very p...... if I was Armindo Araújo right now. Why doesn't the 11th placed driver, driving a WRC, have a place in this 12 car mess of an order? Who makes that call? All of this bearing in mind that the stage is broadcasted live in Portugal and it would prove and ideal opportunity for sponsor exposure on TV.

Solberg/Loeb/Ogier/Hirvonen had a 3 day battle....Latvala was not in the competitive spirit and he did those times because the others let him. So when the time came for REAL battle it was almost sure that one of the 4 would win it if they tried and not latvala becasue they were prepared for it. I agree that mentality is important, but still i think you are overrating it a little bit. I would say that the top 4 is always in fighting spirit, no matter where they are on the leader board. Also your theory would be useless if Hirvonen was 1,5 seconds slower. What would you say then?

I don't understand at all how the organizers decide the order of the cars entering powerstage, to be included or not in the live streaming (except the last 7 cars, obviously):
-Why Hanninen doesn't start in the top 12 if he is 8th in the results?
-Why Novikov and Andersson in and Araujo out?
Maybe there is an explanation on that but im not capable to find it logical...
Is it linked to individual paying sponsors? I know that all works cars remaining in the rally have to appear as they are Priority 1 drivers, but i'm lost with the other reasons.
For me the solution is to include at least 15 cars (or more) in every Powerstage in order to allow all interesting cars in the streaming, and all of us will be more happy to see more cars and will be better for S2000 and other private top drivers and who deserves the right to be on the TV (and probably need it more than others because of his lack of $$$)

Would anyone notice if Wilslow Jr. drove a S2000 spec Fiesta instead of the WRC? And wouldn´t some of the money spent on him be saved if they´d put him into a S2000 car. In the results table it wouldn´t make a big difference either.

It was very nice to see Ott Tänak giving such fast and solid performance throughout the rally. Hänninen said they had setup problems on the opening day, but still he couldn't challenge Tänak. I hope Tänak will have good luck for the coming rounds and this year in SWRC will do his career good. On the contrary I must say I was disappointed by Hänninen's pace, though he took some time away from Tänak on Day 2 and Day 3. It still seems clear that not every Fabia is compared to Skoda Motorsport's Fabia. Hänninen told Finnish media though that only vehicle he'll be driving before Acropolis is his Valmet tractor - time do some field work, literally.
On the big boys series, shame that Latvala made that mistake early on. It would've been different rally. And without the puncture Mikko would've challenged Loeb's victory seriously. On the bright side - and that's for all of us - Ford really isn't behind Citroen on gravel pace, though Sebs have won each gravel rally. Like Jarmo Lehtinen said, honeymoon with Fiesta WRC is now over and they can challenge Citroen more fiercely from now on. Ford claimed 11 stage wins in Sardegna. Of course JML had benefit of superrally, but still - there is the speed. Btw - it was Mikko's fifth consecutive second place in Sardegna.
And Mr. Loeb - he showed how it's done. First time this season he was back in control. He can still bite back and further. But what with Ogier? Okey, he didn't fall much behind, but still the arrogant raw speed wasn't present this time.
Also, for Sardegna 2011, we should remember MINI's debut as well as VW's comfirmation. There is every reason to believe Mini will do better in the future, but how well - is it enough to be third in a three horse race? They're next round is Finland, so Sordo's experience come in handy. We will see.

That's odd, I thought just a few days ago when I corrected your fatuous statement "Money is decisive factor in all motorsdport", I believe you said the car is 60%. And, as expected did not explicitly concede that your original statement way way overblown---and not a statement applicable to EVERY motorsport.
Now you are again pontificating "In Every sport".
Seriously, I'm curious because I never had the resources to do more than 20 years moto-cross, maybe 6 years of enduro---when I was too old for moto-cross, then 10-13 years of rally, so tell me how you know about "that's how it is in every sport" that "mentality is 80% of everything at the top level?"
I'm fairly certain I read that mentality is 88% of everything for beginners, and its 84% for intermediates and rises to 88.9% at the top level and all the way to 98.6% at the World Elite level.
Except when I was at the top level---International moto-cross for 2 seasons, mentality was 100% for me.
Why was it so important for me NOT? Why was it fully 20% higher than what you state so flatly it should have been?
I'm confused, so please explain.

Ok, Nasser finish 10th.
From yesterday on wrc.com:
Nasser Al-Attiyah was secure in fourth, enjoying a considerably less dramatic day than yesterday on his Ford Fiesta S2000, with Bernardo Sousa fifth in another Fiesta. However, when Prokop was handed a four-minute time penalty for his delayed start to Friday’s third stage, Al-Attiyah moved into third with Prokop demoted to fourth.

It obviously has NOT occurred to you that perhaps it is that fact that you have NOT had any experience involvement in motorsports and thus your perceptions and flat declarative statements are 99% of the time NOT connected to reality and are NOThing but bitter grumbling of who would politely be called a NOThing?
I mean look at what you write: you argue with and show no respect to anybody..
Here's a tip: if you do NOT want to sound like a know NOThing, listen more and when people who have actively participated or are participating say or write something correcting you, you should say "Oh I did NOT know, thank you for taking the time to give me an insight into things I had only an extremely superficial awareness of. , I'll try NOT to sound like an armchair fan-boi loudmouth in future"
It's easy admitting you know NOThing, you should try it, you will have ample opportunity to practice it, and like most things: Practice Makes Perfect.
Start practicing.

I don't give much attention to the WRC anymore and I look only to the overall results and the retirement reasons. People don't remember the stage times about some years, only the overall results. The WRC is now for years the same story.
Whats your point actually? You drop in here in the WRC section after almost every WRC rally, telling everyone that you are not interesred in WRC, dont you think that people who are interested in what you like know it by now already?

Had a fantastic couple of days at the event and got to some superb locations; the Coiluna jump was the one spot I was desperate to do and it didn't disappoint - Meeke was sensational over there and more committed than anyone else including the top 3. Hope to get a couple of shots up by tomorrow evening if I can sort out a few issues with CS5.

Ps. Sardinia really is a stunning island, it'll be a real shame if it's never used again. I'm sure someone on here called it a 'poxy event', obviously they've never been there and experienced it for themselves.

That is what I think too. I just wonder why anyone from FIA don't ask fans what they think and what or where they want to watch. Is there any procedure of choosing rally or is it just who knows who? If this is all about money they should officialy published price list for interested in organizing events. I am spectator and potential car buyer and want to decide where I want to go to watch rally. There have been so many great locations over years and so many spectators, why anyone wants to change that? I want to watch more snow rallies, one out of 12-13 is just strange. What is wrong with Sardinia I don't get it, lots of spectators, great locations, fantastic stages with water splashes, jumps, hairpins, just everything best. What was wrong with Corsica or Poland?

No, I prefer to follow much more interesting championships like the IRC, ERC and the most important national championships and luckily, drivers who use SupeRally aren't classified there in the final classification, except in Poland, Belgium, the Netherlands and France...
Isn't the IRC a Skoda dominated championship at the moment?? and before that a Peugeot one, that seems pretty boring to me

What is that interesting in IRC? 90% tarmac rallies, not interesting cars and sometimes no spectators.

You don't follow IRC than. Peugeot won the first round this year (OK, with some luck) and there was also a Peugeot driver leading in the most recent IRC round in Spain, who finished only 8"2 behind the winner. Škoda won 14 SS so far this season in IRC and Peugeot 12. There is a Peugeot driver on the second place in the championship, so you can't say that Škoda is dominating so far this year. I am sure the IRC has again much more different winners than the WRC this year. In the most recent IRC rally, the top 6 finished within one minute and the top 3 within 9 seconds.
