They aren't at the stage end for SS3, they're on a road section. So there is a delay, normally 10 seconds or so

My mistake, realise this a bit later.
Ketomaa is 4-th in s-wrc only 11 sec behind the overall leader pons, and this is his first 3 rally stages on tarmac. So i think he's not so slow and for sure he can improve his speed through the rally.

Sorry for not quoteing, this is my reply to that statement that Latvala is 0.16sec/km slower than Citorens.
I think bigger problem is car itself than drivers. After Rally Bulgaria that i attended, where me and few of my friends(all of us are rally drivers and co-drivers) measured speed with radar gun i pretty sure that problem is in car.
Becouse we measured speed on specific places, we searched for hairpins after which there is straight of 250-300 meters. In my measurments all cars have exit speed difference from hairpin of 1-2 km/h. After 250-300m speed difference is 10km/h more for all Citroens(except Loeb) vs all Ford cars. Loeb was all the time faster then other Citroens for additonal 2-3km/h.
So, in my opinion if some car is faster than another car on 250-300m section for 10km/h and more and they have similar exit speed out of corner, than it`s big problem in power and not in driver.

Excellent performance of Paddon. Hope he can finish rally in that tempo.
CITROEN have never been very talkative about their engine but it has been very clear for years that their engine was equal best with the peugeot engine and is today superior to FORD.
In fact almost every fundamental aspect is better in the CITROEN. FORD have been going the wrong way in the development for at least 6 years now. it is a matter of pride for Wilson, he will not give up his system. Just like he has systematically refused to hire P. SOLBERG.
The results speak for themselves, I don't need to show more.
It is the same pride which blinds him to recognize that his son is a utter failure. The kid is now getting his arse kicked by Al Qassimi, Block, Raikkonen, Villagra and Muller on a regular basis.
The icing on the cake is that superstar Wilson jr has been main development driver for the FIESTA, up until now neither Hirvonen or Latvala have driven it.
I am at a loss of words when I see the waste of money, human effort and ressources which goes into this FORD outfit.
Their results today are what they deserve considering their philosophy on the sport, starting with their "business mind" rather than "sportsman mind".

Ostberg angry after early exit
By David Evans Friday, October 1st 2010, 13:51 GMT
Norwegian driver Mads Ostberg was angry by the nature of his retirement from the Rally of France.
Ostberg, one of the World Rally Championship brightest young talents, is driving a Ford Fiesta S2000 on the Strasbourg-based event, but retired on the second stage of the day after setting the fastest Group N time on the day's opener.
Ostberg slid off the road and was unable to rejoin the stage under his own power. The Norwegian jumped out of the car to beckon the help of nearby marshals and police. Unfortunately for him, they refused to help - and refused to allow anybody from the 70-strong crowd on the corner to offer assistance.
Ostberg has now retired and will return under superally regulations tomorrow.
After going off the road, Ostberg was not allowed to slow the oncoming crews down and his car was hit by a following competitor, before the stage was stopped to allow the recovery vehicle in to move the stricken Ford.
Ostberg said: "The junction was a 90-degree right. We had marked the corner with gravel, I knew it was slippery - but it was more slippery than I thought. We understeered off on the outside. We hit the barrier, but the barrier had been bent by [Eyvind] Brynildsen, who had been off in the same corner. We then got stuck in the hole.
"The damage on the car was quite low. I ran 20 metres to ask the seven or eight marshals and 15 police officers, but they wouldn't allow anybody to help. We had quite a hard argument with them, but they wouldn't do anything. The marshals wouldn't have been able to get the car back on the road, they were just some old men and some women, they couldn't help.
"There were 60 or 70 people who could have come down and got us going again. All of the crowd were booing the police; if this had been Finland, we would have been back on the road in under a minute."

Škoda tried both variants during testing and found out that mechanical center differential doesn't bring much benefits but on the other hand also quite reasonable power loses for naturally aspirated engine and more weight. I think that currently no S2000 uses center differential except those old ones (Polo, Corolla, older Abarths). Peugeot was first to go this way with their Sadev transmission (they also first use a clutch in rear differential for releasing rear axle with use of handbrake). As far as I know X-Trac in Mini and Sadev in DS3 are also without center differential. I don't know about Ford in their new WRC car.

Maybe it’s hard to get down to the min. weight, which is 62 kg, for a S2000 gearbox with centre diff.
Mirek
1st October 2010, 20:12
I think that main problem is power losses (I guess it may be around 3% of power). I know that Abarths used to have around 1170 kg in Barum Rally when there was 1150 kg limit, so it shouldn't be that big problem with weight.

Yes, if there’s 20-30 kg margin the main issue is power loss. 3% of 275 ps are about 8 ps and that can have crucial impact on the performance (depending on the weight of the co-driver :) ).
What I’ve seen the total loss of the transmission is about 15-20%.

1. Loeb is on the top - not a surprise at all as he's on home event.

3. Ogier and Latvala - really good stage times, JML is flying in the Focus.
4. Little disapointed from Peter, think he can go with the pace of other guys and hopefully see him on podium.
5. I can't hear anybody talking about Kimmi - he's going free of mistakes and mush faster than the others drivers like Wilslow, Villagra, Block. Of course he is much slower than the top guns but we can't compare to them i think :) Hope he can finish that rally and score some points.

When you are "quite surprised" by Brynildsen it tells me that you haven`t been following rallying closely for very long. Go back less than one year and look at his performance in Wales, where he actually won and ended up 9th overall, but was excluded afterwards for a minor technical infringement. Eivind Brynildsens background is gokarting, he is a former norwegian champion, and tarmac should suit him very well indeed.

Kimi went off on a slow corner; he and his co-driver are okay, and the car is okay, but stuck. Apparently they're currently trying to find spectators to help.

Bouffier went fast yesterday, but I think he is running on BF Goodrich in the national championship.
All the others are running on Pirelli.
Are you sure that he is runing on BF Goodrich, becouse in WRC Bulgaria, 4WD cars that was running for national championship weren`t alowed to start rally until they get Pirelli. Becouse there is rule for WRC races that all cars with 4WD must use Pirelli tires in WRC event

Does the 25min delay on SS10 mean all stages will start 25 minutes late today?

Raikonen is just hopeless.....
Not really. His first season... i think but he is consistent with offs... haha
So we can give him that, he is giving it a shot and hasn't been doing this as long as Wilson...
but then again we can't compare the two of them!
