He is on BFG. I have it confirmed from France. Here it's different than Bulgaria because nationals are separated. In Bulgaria they were part of WRC field. Anyway today in rain nationals have much worse conditions compared to yesterday.

Sticker on a car does not prove anything about the tyres. Audi was contractually obliged to use Klebers but went for Hakka's instead in 198x Swedish Rally. Just an example...

This is normal Loeb tactics: He chooses a few ss and goes for it on them, and here he totally outperforms the rest.

Loeb is just driving smart. he is first on the road, road is much cleaner. He cuts the corners and all the mud will be dragged to the road and cars behind have much worse conditions. The conditions are much worse during the second pass. Look at his times. he won most of the first passages and was much more careful during the second passes when the road was already dirty. Nothing else.

Sorry for not quoteing, this is my reply to that statement that Latvala is 0.16sec/km slower than Citorens.

I think bigger problem is car itself than drivers. After Rally Bulgaria that i attended, where me and few of my friends(all of us are rally drivers and co-drivers) measured speed with radar gun i pretty sure that problem is in car.

Becouse we measured speed on specific places, we searched for hairpins after which there is straight of 250-300 meters. In my measurments all cars have exit speed difference from hairpin of 1-2 km/h. After 250-300m speed difference is 10km/h more for all Citroens(except Loeb) vs all Ford cars. Loeb was all the time faster then other Citroens for additonal 2-3km/h.

So, in my opinion if some car is faster than another car on 250-300m section for 10km/h and more and they have similar exit speed out of corner, than it`s big problem in power and not in driver.

This is what I was talking about, conspiracy or not, it's interesting.

This is what I was talking about, conspiracy or not, it's interesting.

In Germany my friend was with some guys measuring cornering speed in long corners by speed-gun and Loeb was always faster than others in the corner, so 2-3 km/h difference could easily be just because of better exit speed from the corner.

Yes, but exit speed shouldn't be that much of a factor if those corners were hairpins?

It is impossible to measure a difference of car engine with such method. It is to play the science with piece of twines. On the contrary look at the video which follows and you will see difference between the very good and good drivers in a hairpin.

Ogier looked quickest through that hairpin.

We all had the same conversation in NZ, and thought it wouldn be hard to imagine that Loeb has a slightly different engine than Sordo and Ogier. Never really know but, without a doubt he is the best but

I've always thought that the criticism of young Matt Wilson was a bit harsh. He's always gotten quicker year on year and I've always tried to give him the benefit of the doubt.

But after apparently finishing "just" +2:26.4 off Sebastien Loeb on SS11 alone(!!!??!), I am struggling now. I was disappointed with the whining when Solberg drove into him in Sweden this year.

After supporting him since the beginning and always believing he could still get there in the end, I am wondering now whether I finally have to face the facts!

Please Stobart don't give up - but consider changing drivers...

Isn't bit strange that a classic gravel/snow driver like Henning Solberg is beating all the contenters of SWRC ?? including Peugeot official French driver Bouffier if you compare their times until SS12.....

Was't expecting something like that.....

Mirek
2nd October 2010, 20:23
Bouffier had huge lead in French championship and wasn't in direct fight with anyone and also very different road conditions, so it's hard to compare. Just look at times of the longest stage. WRC boys did second run two minutes slower than first run. French nationals were starting after some 60 cars of WRC field, so the road most probably looked more like in second run...

On a side note, who actually thinks this rally is a worthy successor of the Tour de Corse?

I think the roads are ok, the slippery conditions has of course helped the difficulty so far. But it does resemble Germany a lot of times. Spectator numbers have been good, though not that surprising when homedriver Loeb is around.

I'm not sure, now that I know that the TdC will return in the IRC next year in an entirely new form (unlike the butchered WRC version from recent years). I'm anctious to see how it will turn up, but I know the WRC promoter prefers a round on the main land, such as Alsace.

Somehow I can see NOT's point about Kimi when it's come to rallying. But that calling him FAT I don't buy att all. I saw Kimi personally in Neste oil rally and have a chat with him and I have to say that he was in really good shape. But what comes to his career in rally I think it's too late in his age. How he could ever have that experiment in rally like for example Ketomaa. It don't matter how talented you are but you still need lot of rallies to be a rally driver. And Kimi is not a rally driver, it would still take 5-10 years. I remember when we were watching Jyväskylän Suurajot in late 80's or in a start of 90's and Grönholm got Toyota Celica for a race. First stages and he went off. We were thinking that he never gonna be world top driver but everyone here knows what happened later. I think personally that it would be nice to see Kimi in good F1 car and him doing rally as a enjoyment few times a year. Still I don't like all the crap witch is written about Kimi, he is F1 world champion...

I've been in the ERC some time and about 15 years ago thay had to pay a fee to be filmed on tape, or even mentioned... maybe that's still going on..

I would like to know this...

Bobcat
3rd October 2010, 03:47
]No, it does use permanent 4WD. The system is same as on Fiesta S2000. In fact it's the most permanent 4WD system of all :D

System without rear differential means that rear axle is powered directly by propshaft from front differential cage (angle transmission).
That's rubbish! http://www.guywilks.com/news.aspx

...the back of his Skoda UK Fabia S2000 and, most significantly of all, a problem with the rear differential on all 17 stages made the car difficult to keep in a straight line over the bumps,
Generally, this "very simple 4WD" system dispenses with a center differential and instead connects a spinning drive shaft directly to a rear differential. A sequential gearbox is coupled with front and rear differentials with "auto-locking". The gearbox and the front differential are integrated in an aluminium housing. These are connected to the rear differential via the longitudinal drive shaft.

Well, it seems a risky idea to run a long stage twice in a row. Even with a big break between, a lot of time can be lost removing one or two rally cars from dangerous positions, etc.

Combine the above with the facts the rally is already behind time and there is a live stage scheduled, it may be that the organisers have decided to cut SS19
to catch up time. Or is there another reason?

Well done Loeb - another great season.
Great result for Petter and JML too.

Looking forward to Spain now that Loeb doesn't have to think about the Championship.
