Yes, it is. For example stage Heuveland has several very long straights with up to 30 seconds in rpm limiter each. In the past Škoda was benefiting from higher top speed than Peugeot and Ford in Ypres a lot (for some strange reason they didn't use long gearbox in Greece). Two years back there was a video with speed gun from one such straight and Van den Heuvel with R4 Evo made over 210 km/h there...

Maybe they would need to change the programming? The PDK was originally invented for motorsport use and DSG is working on fundamentally same principle. I admit I have never driven stock DSG but I can believe it might sometimes pre-shift up while You need shift down or vice versa as the automatics doesn't see the road in front of the car. It just follows the user when he is accelerating to high rpm it pre-shifts higher gear.

Can't be that hard to disable the automatic shifting surely and just use the paddles?

How does the shakedown work ? Will all the cars do it ? How many time can we see each car ?
Do we have to pay to see it ?
Where are the historics ?

I call this BS. You were precisely talking about timing (quote: "No-one confirms anything at this stage"). And 2001 is not 1980 and the situation in 2001 was exactly the same, three rallies to go and...
