For s2000 cars mikkelsen, Basso, hanninen and some more from the IRC are top....in a WRC car and level of competition is a different story...and usually not a successful one.

IRC is a very good base with some great talent, but in order to be WRC level you have to evolve from the IRC driving.

Ola Fløene (Mikkelsen's co driver) said somewhere that he would be 300 days away from home this year, in addition to all IRC rounds and testing they do 5-6 rounds in WRC and recce on most others.

For me main problem for the step up from top-class (IRC) to world-class (WRC) is the different character of the rallyes....roughly said IRC is a tarmac cup, WRC is a gravel cup, in this respect I think Neuvilles performance is very good, and it is just a matter of time until he can fight for podiums...
back to topic:
Andi Aigner is very happy with his first outing in the Impreza, he said he was never pushing at all, just adjusted his speed to his main-rivals (other production cars, his order was clearly to win this class, not more or less), and used the event to try different setups and learn the cars performance...
IRC: Korsika-Rallye - 2012 - Rallye - motorline.cc
Teamboss Manfred Stohl was also very pleased with the result, next rallye for Aigner will be Ypres...

The Mini is at the same level as Skodas and Peugeot's. Now we need to confirme this in a gravel event.

The Fiesta RRC also show good speed.Three gears are enough!

New for him? Get real, he has done thousands of kilometers in Mini. The S2000 variant differs only in engine performance and less aerodynamic grip. Also Sordo did Corsica more times than IRC drivers before 2012 (Kopecký 4x, Basso 1x 11 years a go, Mikkelsen 3x), Sordo did Corsica 5x. Also Sordo is No.2 world driver on asphalt and if the car was on pair with other cars he would have to win quite easy. That's not my feeling from the event although the early problems for Basso and Mikkelsen didn't get so much comparison. And there is one point. The Mini S2000 is way more expensive to run that 207 or Fabia S2000.

To have done Corsica by the last time 4 years ago, is not the same as doing it last year. But ok...

The future will show how things will be.
By the way and talking about the RRC prices. More than 500.000 Euros by a Fiesta RRC?!?!!? The Mini must be at the same level... this people are being completely crazy!Three gears are enough!

I meant running cost. From what I heard from people having their own 207, Fabia and Mini it's a big difference.
